We have been renting out the larger house on it's own since June (2017), but we only recently bought the smaller house, and have only just started advertising the two as a "pair" so we do not as yet have any reviews for this option. You can however see reviews for the large house rented on its own, if you select the single house site, which sleeps a maximum of nine. It is property number 8209211.
The main house is a large Edwardian semi, backing on to Chapel Court, while the smaller house is an old Mews house which fronts on to Chapel Court. The two properties are both child and dog friendly and, booked together, cater perfectly for the larger party wishing to spend time together, whilst still being able to enjoy some privacy, particularly at bedtimes.
There is private parking for three to four cars with further roadside parking usually available within about 100 yards, or at the "pay and display" central Porlock car park.
The larger house has been recently renovated and updated with all modern conveniences, whilst retaining the original character of the house. Up to two dogs are welcome, but not upstairs please. There is free wi-fi throughout the house, and the televisions are all equipped with freeview to offer plenty of channels.
It has four bedrooms, three doubles (two with double beds, with a king size bed in the main bedroom), each with it's own en-suite, whilst the fourth double bedroom has two single beds, and adjoins the main bathroom. There are televisions in both the main bedroom, and the "twin" bedroom. There is also a z bed, and travel cots, which can be provided if requested in advance.
The fully fitted modern kitchen has a Smeg dishwasher, a Neff oven with plate warming drawer, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee maker (please bring your own capsules if you wish to use this), fridge, freezer, crockery, utensils, cutlery, and a large table to comfortably seat eight people. High chairs can also be provided, but need to be requested in advance.
The downstairs is open plan, with comfortable two and three seater leather sofas, and a comfortable chair in the lounge area. A working woodburner in an original surround, and a 49 inch smart television. Music is provided through a voice activated Amazon Echo, which has unlimited access to the entire Amazon music library of over four million tracks!
The utility room has a washing machine, condenser tumble drier, microwave and sink. There are also two large dog beds, a dog cage, bowls, and even a spare lead. It leads on to the downstairs toilet.
There is a fully walled back garden for the safety of both children and dogs (please don't leave children or dogs unattended anywhere on the property though!). There are two tables and comfortable garden chairs for eight, and a large modern gas barbecue.
The smaller house is a characterful two bedroom cottage, capable of sleeping up to five, and faces on to Chapel Court,which is a quiet little courtyard just off the High Street. Children and dogs are welcome, but no more than two dogs please, and dogs not allowed in bedrooms.
The main bedroom has a good double bed, and the second bedroom has a "trio bunk". This is a double bed, with a single bunk bed above, so can accommodate either a couple in the double bed with a child in the bunk above, or three children. A travel cot can also be provided.
It has a large kitchen with a fridge, freezer, washing machine,microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker (please bring your own Nespresso capsules if you wish to use this), plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery, and is generally equipped to suit a family of five.
The lounge/diner has a comfortable three seater sofa, and a dining table with four chairs. A high chair can be provided. There is also a modern flat screen freeview enabled television in the living room, and another in the second bedroom. Both tv's are equipped with Amazon firesticks. These are voice activated, and give you access to a wide variety of television services, and the Amazon music library.
In one corner is a good working woodburner, and there are wall mounted electric heaters throughout the house. Free wifi is available throughout both houses.
Should you wish to book both properties as described, please book well in advance, as the properties are also rented out individually, so the option to book both on a particular date can disappear without warning. We do insist on Saturday changeovers
