City Visit To San Cristobal De La Laguna
We had a lovely time in this part of Tenerife. La Laguna is really worth a visit. It is an enchanting colonial style town with so much to see and do. The climate is so temperate and pleasant and the people are all very friendly and helpful. Completely different experience to the South of Tenerife. The Anaga national park is a treasure and the views and small towns at the coast are spectacular. Other attractions which are very much worth visiting are as follows: Tiede National Park, El Sauzal(Lovely town/Bodega/Restaurant), El Tiede national park, Guimar, Candalaria and not forgetting Santa Cruz(Tram ride of approx. 25mins.Tram is a short walk from the apartment)
The hosts Juan and his wife are very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
Location of this property is fantastic. You can walk into all areas of La Laguna and the local neighbourhood is full of local bars/tapas etc. Parking is free but you might have to drive around a bit to get a free spot. Any closer to the centre and you will really struggle for parking and pay for it. You are right beside the tram and have some small supermarkets within a 3min walk of the apt. The location feels very safe. It is a large apartment that is decorated fairly well. It is very clean, has a very good shower and bathroom. Internet access is very good. You have a large patio to eat outside if you wish but sun only hits it in the morning.
It is an ideal apartment for people who wish to experience the real Tenerife in a university town that allows you reach the capital by Tram. We were only two but the apartment is very reasonable for a family or for a group.
It is not perfect. The design is old hence a lot of the rooms are dark and windows open to the street. If you are looking for a beach style apartment this is not the one for you. The apt is clean well maintained. Kitchen could do with an oven but otherwise well equipped and large. Ultimately it is an old style apartment locally very centrally and I would highly recommend it to people who want the city life close by on their door step but also wish to explore the beautiful scenery and towns that abound in this region.
Many thanks to Juan and his wife for being such nice hosts. We would have no hesitation in returning to this area or to this apartment for a vacation.
I could write a thousand more words at least about this area but hopefully I have given enough to encourage people to give it a whirl.
The municipal term of San Cristóbal de La Laguna is situated to the northeast of Tenerife, between the massif of Anaga and the mount of the Hope. Located at an approximate altitude of 600 meters, its highest elevation is in Cruz de Taborno, to 1. 020 meters on the level of the sea.
On its coast, in the north of the municipality, are located the agricultural regions of Tejina and Valle de Guerra, but also the tourist centers of Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo.
In Anaga they emphasize the hamlets of El Batán or Las Carboneras, among other rural settlements. In the center of the municipality, in an extensive valley, stands the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, declared Cultural Heritage and World Heritage by UNESCO in 1999. It was the first colonial city without walls that preserves almost its original layout of the XV century, which served as a model for many colonial cities in America. Its streets, marked by an attractive commercial, gastronomic and leisure activity, are full of monuments and historic buildings.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna has several approved footpaths that cross its leafy peaks. The route PR - TF 10 Cruz del Carmen - Punta del Hidalgo descends from the visitor center to the coast of Punta del Hidalgo and is reserved for hikers with some experience, since it has a length of approximately 10 kilometers and a duration of about four hours. In this route can be known the hamlets of Chinamada and Las Carboneras. PR -TF 10. 1 Las Escaleras - Las Carboneras - Chinamada is another path, much shorter and medium level, that allows you to discover both hamlets.
Before visiting any point of the municipality is essential to carry a map or map of the area, also if you travel by car have a road map.
We invite you to visit the many trails that dot the orography of La Laguna, starting on some occasions from the summit and on others from the coast.
