Hadleigh is a thriving town which is in the heart of south Suffolk
right on the edge of Constable Country; an area famous for its
outstanding countryside views and natural beauty. The town’s backbone
is the High Street with just the right eclectic mix of well-known and
independent shops, services, restaurants, cafés and pubs. Hadleigh is
surrounded by charming Suffolk villages such as Kersey which has been
described as Suffolk's prettiest hamlet. In the Middle Ages, Kersey was
a thriving village producing woollen yarn and over 500 people occupied
the timber framed houses. Nowadays, it's more peaceful place with circa
150 people occupying many of those same houses. Whilst staying in
Hadleigh other Suffolk villages well worth a visit include the wool
towns of Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare and Cavendish. In the other
direction are the equally attractive villages of Dedham and the famous
Flatford Mill. Hadleigh is also ideally located and is just a short
drive to Ipswich or Colchester.
