Everything was as stated. Richard was great. The best location possible. Would love to stay again
Robert is a very nice guest! Communication was great and we love to see him back!
Haarlem is the perfect home base for exploring the area. Yes, it is easy to get to Amsterdam, but the real gems are found exploring on your bicycle. The accommodations are charming and spacious and in the center of the village, restaurants and shops. The town is charming and welcoming and offers so much to enjoy.
Very nice guests, we hope to see you back soon! Enjoy your holliday in Europe!
Wonderful place. Great location
Very nice guests, good communication and they left the apartment spotless! Thanks for your booking and hope to see you again.
Perfect in Every Way
We stayed at Richard's apartment for the last few days of our two week Netherlands trip -- and it was easily one of the highlights of our entire vacation.
The apartment is beautifully decorated with art, soft throws, candles, and other details that make the space feel instantly luxurious and relaxing. Even though Haarlem's central square is right outside the door, the apartment feels like a peaceful oasis, especially from the rooftop deck with fantastic views of the Grote Kerk.
The stairs are steep, so seniors or travelers with small children should take extra care. But the views are worth it.
It's easy walking distance to anything in Haarlem, including the train station, beautiful Kenaupark (which was hosting a food truck festival during our visit) and of course the Grote Markt. We enjoyed the Saturday market there (warm stroopwafels!), as well as a lunchtime choral concert at St. Bavo and an "orgelexcursie" that took us up into the church's famed organ for a special tour.
Richard was a wonderful host, always reachable with any questions we had and kindly supplying extra towels and paper products for our stay. It's clear he put a lot of love into the restoration and thought into the experience of his guests.
From watching a thunderstorm through the living room's massive windows to hearing the church bells every night, we treasured every moment and can't wait to return. Tot ziens!!

It was a pleasure to have you in my apartment.
Tnx for leaving the house the way you did! Hope to see you again soon.
Perfectly located - Beautifully decorated - Comfy King Bed -1/2 Block off the Grote Markt
If you're seeking a centrally located apartment that is oozing with the culture and history of old Haarlem - you just found it.
This building dates back to the mid 1500's but Richard has tastefully remodeled & decorated it to save the old but with all the conveniences of the new.
Richard is an accomplished caterer and it shows in his taste and in his well designed, fully-equipped kitchen.
The views from the rooftop patio of the Grote Kerk / Sint-Bavokerk (Church of St. Bavo) are amazing. We had most of our breakfasts and a few dinners at home up there and took many photos and videos from this spectacular vantage point.
Richard is a great and gracious host and is always available and in immediate contact via WhatsApp or Email if you need anything at all.
He included a full cleaning for us during our 11-day stay which was appreciated.
The internet was perfectly fine - especially strong in the great room and I think the big flatscreen TV got 1,000 channels.
Shopping in Haarlem is the best with many one-of-a-kind shops and stores.
It's a 7-8 minute walk to the Central Train Station.
Take the #300 Bus from Schiphol airport if you are flying in and it will drop you 5-6 blocks away from the apartment.
We rented 3-speed bicycles for a one-week period for 74 Euros each and found them a great way to get around. We rode to the National Park, the beach, Leiden, and other outlying small towns.
We were able to lock the bikes to the post right outside the front door.
If you are OK with having the toilet one floor down from the master bedroom, this is otherwise a perfect & convenient place to use as your base to explore Haarlem and the surrounding area.

Ken and Susan were great guests to have. They took very good care of my apartment and left the place spotless!
I would love to see them back!
Wonderfully fun and perfectly located apartment. Richard is the perfect host and insured that we were situated comfortably and checked in on us periodically. The apartment is located in the heart of Haarlem and in the shadow of the cathedral. Everything is walkable. The apartment is on two floors with a wonderful roof top deck. Connected by steep stairs, but very manageable. Plenty of room, fun and complete kitchen, great bedroom with adjoining bath. Richard painstakingly renovated this historic property with great care and attention to detail. Cars are really not allowed on the street below, but its a popular area so there is a bit of evening street noise from nearby restaurants...but only makes the atmosphere festive. And speaking of restaurants, there are dozens just outside the front door. We look forward to coming back!
Paul and his wife were very nice guests to have in my apartment. Very good and friendly communication aswell.
About the sounds of the city, we just have dubbel glass installed in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom...
They left my place spotless and we are looking forward to have them back again!
P.s tnx for the nice bottle of wine !
The apartment is located in the center of Haarlem.
Most sights, museums, restaurants, bars etc. are within walking distance.
The apartment is right next to the large Bavo church, around the corner from the Teylers museum, Frans Hals museum, the Amsterdam gate etc all within walking distance.
If you want to go to the beach you can go to Zandvoort by car, bus or train. You can also rent bicycles in the area and cycle to the beach (± 30 minutes by bike).
A train to Amsterdam leaves every 10 minutes from the station. After 20 minutes you will arrive at the central station, also in the center.
Haarlem is also a few kilometers from the Keukenhof where you can see the beautiful flower bulb fields in April and May.
