About the property

Just 2 km from the city center, in a quiet but not isolated countryside, located near the Via Francigena, spacious ground floor apartment with 2 reserved parking spaces in a small village called "La Cartiera". The ideal place to stay in touch with nature without renouncing the proximity of the center. The ideal place to continue to relax after a day at the Spa, around lakes or local sites of historical, cultural and naturalistic interest.

The spacious and open living, living and kitchen spaces as well as the spacious rooms make the apartment particularly suitable for families and anyone who appreciates the pleasure of open space. The presence of two fireplaces, one in the lounge to warm up the conviviality and / or the intimacy of the winter and the other in the kitchen to prepare in every season succulent grilled, make alive the taste of the countryside. Finally, the complete demolition of architectural barriers makes the house accessible to anyone.

The entire house will be available to guests.

For the use of the fireplace / barbecue, all the materials and the necessary tools are provided to guests. Use of the fireplace and / or barbecue adds an additional cost of € 15,00 regardless of the amount of material used. From 1/10 to 30/4 the heating cost will be counted upon check-out based on actual consumption and will be paid in cash directly to the Host. The city of Viterbo is certainly appreciable both for its thermalism and for its historical and cultural connotations.

The house is located just outside the historic city center, or near the medieval walls that surround it, in the neighborhood called "La Grotticella".

The entrance to the historic center takes place through the nearby Porta Romana from which every year, on September 3, the folkloristic transport of the CAR OF SANTA ROSA starts, a popular event in honor of the patron saint.

The historic center of Viterbo is a large, well-preserved medieval village, inside which stands the historic Palazzo Papale. The old underground city offers visitors more opportunities to learn about the city's history.

The neighborhood where the house is located is purely residential and in it there is the Strada Roncone, just 800 meters from the railway station of Porta Romana and the aforementioned walls.

Although it is a rural road, the Roncone is completely paved and urbanized; in it there are only recently built multi-family houses, manor villas and old farmhouses.

At the beginning of Strada Roncone there is an ancient fountain (with drinking water) which, historically, it supplied directly from the natural spring present near the former paper mill where my apartment is located today. Here there is also a small stream that cascades down, exploited in the past to feed the machinery of the paper mill, and now crosses the courtyard of the housing complex that still remembers the features of a small village in the countryside.

The Strada Roncone takes place for about 2.5 km (my house is about 2 km, or o of it) and represents a variant of the historic Via Francigena; for this reason it is often traveled on foot by marching pilgrims. It is a closed road and, therefore, with traffic strictly limited to residents and / or their visitors; for this reason it is also a frequent destination for those who like to take long walks and / or jogging in the open air without the chaos and the urban smog.

At its end the road gives way to the bush that you cross only on foot through a small path that climbs towards the nearby pine forest of Monti Cimini, at the foot of Ronciglione where it is also -most south - the nearby lake of Vico.

Viterbo, Northern Lazio City, is in fact located on the first slopes of the Cimini Mountains and extended to the west towards the last strip of the Maremma plain.

The average altitude is 326 meters above sea level.

The Municipality of Viterbo occupies an area of ​​406.27 square kilometers, populated by about 60,000 inhabitants and includes numerous hamlets (La Quercia, Bagnaia, S. Martino al Cimino, Tobia, Roccalvecce, Caves S. Stefano, Montecalvello, Monterazzano).

The City, capital of the Province of Viterbo since 1927 (territory of 60 municipalities with about 315. 000 inhabitants), consists of a vast historical center surrounded by walls and modern expansions surrounding, except south-west, where they extend agricultural and archaeological areas and thermal baths.

To the north of the capital, only about 25 minutes by car, is the Bolsena lake, an ideal place for a boat trip and to taste good fish including the local "coregone".

Strada Roncone is not served by public transport but near its start there is the city bus stop.

The nearest railway station is Porta Romana, which is about 800 meters from the beginning of the Roncone and about 2.8 km from my house, while that of Porta Fiorentina is about 4.5 km from the house.

Taxis are about 5 km from the house; the extra-urban bus terminal about 5.5 km away.

For guests who have their own car there are 2 reserved parking spaces in the courtyard of the house.

For those arriving by train the host, within the limits of their commitments and times of availability indicated, will be happy to offer you a ride to your home.

3 bicycles for men, women and children are available free of charge at the house.

During the summer, an urban "train" is active for a city tour.

The nearest airport is Fiumicino, about 60 Km.

The naval port of Civitavecchia is about 50 km away.
