17 Shimna mile is a newly built first floor apartment in a very quiet residential area only five minutes walk from the centre of Newcastle, the sea or cross the road and head up into the mountains by foot. The apartment faces straight onto the mountains and gives you a wonderful view. Bright all day there is a combined kitchen, living and dining area fully equipped including washing machine, tumble driver, TV, DVD, fridge freezer and yes if you want internet we have that as well!
We have 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite facilities the other adjacent to a full bathroom. Gas heating is very efficient and on cold days this is a cosy apartment. Easy to park, uninterrupted views and great facilities for a relaxed holiday.
Please remember this is a first floor apartment with no lift but the stairwell is bright and easy access - 15 steps.
We are a professional couple who love staying in Shimna Mile as much as our clients
Alan George purchased this apartment in 2010
Newcastle is very unique place nestling between the mountains and the sea. With great outdoor activities, incredible scenery and friendly and welcoming people it's a lovely place to visit. Our apartment is equally welcoming and will be a perfect base for your stay long or short.
Nice current flat in good condition with a great living-room-view towards the mountains. The property is quiet, and removed from the town center, but just a short walk through a park into the core of Newcastle. Alan was very nice; he met us and showed us the property and made himself available if we had needed him for anything else.
Newcastle is the perfect holiday resort for couples and families.
Beautiful promenade and lovely walks nearby. Interesting country parks and houses and the beautiful Mourne mountains on show from the lounge of the apartment. Beautifully decorated and furnished, very comfortable and supplied with everything we needed. Quietly situated but within a short pleasant walk to the front. Thank you Alan for your warm welcome and advice.
The apartment was clean, extremely convenient and well equipped. The view of the mountains from the living room is fabulous. Newcastle is a lovely little town with very fine restaurants and lots of outdoor activities. We stayed 3 days and plan to return and stay a week next time We would highly recommend this place to all our friends.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this top class apartment. We were met on arrival by the owner who showed us layout and facilities.
The apartment was spotless, modern, beautifully furnished and had all mod cons. It has been maintained to a high standard throughout. This apartment is extremely spacious and comfortable.
It is in a quiet location in a beautiful area and the view from the window overlooks the mountains. It is 5 minutes walk from the centre of Newcastle.
We would strongly recommend this apartment for a holiday and hope to return next year.
Myself, wife and 3 kids had a marvellous stay at this roomy 2 bed apartment, just 5 minutes walk from the town centre and all local attractions. I was met on arrival by the owner who showed me all I needed to know about the accommodation in a friendly courteous manner. We only managed to stay for 2 nights this time but do hope to get back for longer as it is at an affordable price, not over the top like some places, and really is a lovely spot. 5 stars in my book for this lovely apartment...well recommended.
Newcastle nestles at the feet of the Mourne mountains. it is the gateway to an area of natural beauty adjacent to marvellous coastal scenery and beaches, with easy access to Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks and miles of wonderful walking in the Mourne mountains themselves. This brand new modern apartment is fully equipped and within easy reach to all the area has to offer. For golfers Royal County Down golf course is only 5 minutes drive away. Birdwatchers and nature lovers can roam the Murlough reserve especially rich in the autumn and winter seasons. Hikers will be spoiled for choice with trails. Historians and the spiritually sensitive are only 30 min from the many ancient sites connected with Patrick and early settlements around Srangford Lough. Newcastle is only a small town but has all the shopping you will need plus a great choice of fabulous restaurants in the area. For an action packed or quiet reflective holiday in an outstanding natural environment look no further!
Golf: Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, the links stretches along the shores of Dundrum Bay, zigzagging back and forth to provide a different vista from virtually every hole.
The narrowest ribbons of fairways thread their way through as impressive a set of sand dunes as could be imagined. The fairways are surrounded by purple heather and golden gorse, so beautiful to look at but so punishing for any who may stray from the prescribed path. The finest of all links courses, it offers a stern challenge from the championship tees. From the Stableford tees it offers golfers of all standards the opportunity of playing a truly great course with dramatic panorama of the surrounding mountains and coastline.
The Annesley Links at Royal County Down shares the same magnificent setting as the Championship Links and is full of character. Although much shorter than the Championship Links, it is still a very testing course, with magnificent views of sea, mountains and dune land.
Founded in 1889 Golf Digest described it as the best course in the world outside of the United States.
There are many more fantastic courses within easy driving distance.
