Platinum Lodge At Devon Hills 5* Holiday Village Near Totnes

Bedrooms 2
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Contemporary lodge with 2 bedroom 2 bathrooms, and open plan living area.

Devon Hills is a 5* holiday village situated between the coast of Torbay and the historic market town of Totnes. The site nestles in 60 acres of tranquil countryside and our lodge has a prime position with views over the Devon countryside and its own parking space. Decking wraps around three sides from which you can enjoy day long sun. This is an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful Devon countryside from the numerous blue flag beaches to the tiny picturesque hamlets. There is so much to enjoy right here, on your doorstep, and our lodge is the perfect home from home in which to return to after your day of sightseeing. The decking leads to the front door and into the open plan living accommodation with vaulted ceiling and double bi-fold doors opening onto the terrace. The fully fitted kitchen is equipped with a gas hob and electric fan oven and microwave. Also provided is a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, with the usual small appliances such as a toaster and kettle. There is also a separate utility with washing machine. The hallway takes you into the two double bedrooms both with quality mattresses. One with king size bed and the other with twin single beds. From the main bedroom is the fully tiled en-suite shower room with washbasin and toilet. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and washbasin. There are large mirrors and televisions in both bedrooms. The lodge has a real home from home feel, for winter breaks there is gas central heating and double glazing to ensure that you are warm and cosy on even the coldest of days, flat screen television, DVD, and games for the children on wet days.

The holiday village of Devon Hills is a five star rated site and has a leisure complex boasting an indoor pool with children's pool, a sauna and a steam room. The Gym at Devon Hills has a reputation for being one of the best in the area with first class equipment and personal training if required. Outside you can try archery, tennis and table tennis and there is a small but adequate play area for children. The Blagdon Inn is a short walk away and offers good food and local beers along with wines, spirits and a warm welcome. An ideal solution for those that enjoy a drink without the drive home.

The site itself has a very tranquil atmosphere without the noisy attractions that can disrupt a stay on some of the more commercial sites. It makes a perfect base from which to acquaint yourself with the area. Whether walking, sailing, climbing or window shopping, everything that you could possibly want can be found within a twenty mile radius of Devon Hills. Grocery stores such as Asda, Morrison’s and Sainsbury are a few minutes’ drive away. The two nearest cities of Plymouth and Exeter both offer different interests with Plymouth having the famous Barbican and Exeter with its cathedral and canals. The National park of Dartmoor is nearby with its notorious ten tors and Dartmoor ponies and the South Hams boasts unspoilt hamlets and villages such as the village of Stoke Gabriel with its Mill pond, Slapton sands and the adjacent beaches and the sailing centre of Salcombe. There is so much to see and so many beautiful places to enjoy whatever the weather, Dartmouth, Totnes, Brixham and Dartington. For the children you are just two miles from Paignton Zoo and the beaches and pier. In Torquay you can visit Living Coasts to watch the penguins and seals performing and people watch from one of the continental style cafes along the harbour.

We love living in Devon and are happy to help and advise should you wish to learn more about the area and we hope that you will choose our delightful lodge as your home from home whether it be for a short break or a long term stay.

Our lodge and decked area are strictly non-smoking and unfortunately we do not allow pets. We have 2 single beds in second bedroom ideal for children, but we do not supply a travel cot for babies, the lodge is equipped for a maximum of four guests.

About Mrs Susan Lamb

Sue and Steve Lamb.

We live in Plymouth, and so our holiday home at Devon Hills means we can have a short break when we feel the need, without to much travelling.

We have owned the lodge for 6 years and have sublet through Haulfryn and now with Owners Direct, we take pride in keeping it up to scratch and nothing pleases us more than reading our reviews in our guest book.

Mrs Susan Lamb purchased this chalet in 2011

We had a lovely stay in this lodge. (Myself, hubby and two girls - 7 and 4yrs). Brilliantly equipped with everything you need including toddler toilet seat! The on-site pool is an added bonus! The site is just a short drive away from shops, beaches and entertainment. We would definitely consider staying here again should we return to the area. Thank you.

Loved this lodge, absolutely beautifully laid out, bright and clean with everything you could need.

Loved this lodge. We've just come back from a holiday in Devon and stayed here for 4 nights. The owners have made it a home from home and decorated it in lovely bright neutral colours, and it was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It has everything you need for a mini break or longer including a washing machine/dryer in the well thought out entrance space if you need it. There is a large rotary washing line on the decking perfect for drying towels etc after a swim. The open plan layout is perfect and the double doors leading onto the decking area are ideal for family to spread out and enjoy the view/sun. Gated decking good for smaller kids. The kitchen has all the usuals that you might need including a dishwasher and when we arrived there was a starter supply of sugar, teabags, teatowel, dishwasher tabs, dishcloth/brush which is great. Please look at the equipment list provided on the booking site as it's all there, including a hairdryer. All the appliances appear to be almost new and are in perfect working order. It was a lovely surprise to walk into after a long journey. The pictures provided are a very accurate view of the lodge. The ensuite with the walk-in shower is great and a well thought out idea in a smaller space. I would definitely stay there again and it was a bonus to be able to book a short stay. Any communication or queries with the owners was answered very quickly and I would reccomend this lodge to anyone wishing to stay in the area. Lovely quite place to stay and visit South Devon from.

Re the Devon Hills itself, the food in the Blagdon Inn is good but very slow. There isn't a shop in the Inn, you just ask at the bar and they only really do the basics like milk, bread & butter and possibly a few more first night essentials. You won't need much more as there is a very large Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Lidl, and Asda all within spitting distance. If going to Sainsbury's in 2018 watch the roadworks, the entrance is via a short drive down the wrong side of the road - it is signposted but easy to miss. Morrisons is off the entrance to Paignton Zoo & probably the easiest to get to as it is straight down the road for about 7 mins. The post code for satnav for Devon Hills stops outside someone's house half way up the hill if you're coming from Torquay end - keep driving for another 2 mins uphill and you'll see the entrance. Reception open until 5pm and they are very helpful. All in all a lovely place to stay & a lovely lodge.

Excellent lodge in ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a 5 night stay in this lodge on Devon Hills Resort Paignton. The lodge was extremely spacious and superbly kitted out with everything you could wish for. A luxury fitted kitchen, spacious lounge area, two upto date modern bathrooms one of which was en suite and two excellent bedrooms. Large decked outside area with table and chairs.

The lodge was spotlessly clean.

The resort is well placed and provides easy access to Paignton and Torquay as well as many other places in the area.

Would definitely book here again.
