About the property

Tudor town house central to Stamford with walled garden

The painted house built in 1663 has been recently lovingly restored by the owner to a stylish country retreat with beautiful traditional interiors. The house is built of stone and we have walls painted in beautiful antique heritage colours. Surprisingly spacious it sleeps 8 comfortably with 3 double bedrooms and 1 children's room with two single beds. We are lucky enough to have a lovely walled garden with a lawn and patio area for eating outside all this situated right in the heart of Stamford. The house is configured on ground floor with a dining room to the left and to the right a kitchen and sitting room with large inglenook fireplace and log burner. There is a downstairs shower and toilet and laundry area to the back of the kitchen. The door to the first floor leads up to master bedroom with king size bed and guest double. The bathroom is situated on the first floor it has an antique bath with shower and is ample room to relax in. On the top floor is another king size bed and the children's room with two singles. We have recently invested in the white company sheets and use neals yard products. This house is brilliant for family get together, celebrate a special birthday or girls getaway. We have a partnership with THE STAMFORD KITCHEN so can organise catering for a special meal lazy breakfasts or general cooking. Please let us know your requirements and we are happy to organise.

this is our family country home we still use today. we grew up in london but as my sisters and I flew the nest my mother decided to move to stamford as she preferred a slower pace. I am an interior designer and have worked in london and Italy creating beautiful homes that reflect the character and style of my clients. I currently work and live in london.

THE PAINTED HOUSE purchased this house in 1992

Why THE PAINTED HOUSE chose Stamford

I together with my sister have restored The Painted House, We have tried to create a really beautiful place to relax and unwind. we love coming here eating and going for walks entertaining our friends, this house does it well we can comfortably accommodate 9 so its good for family get togethers

What makes this house unique

This house has English heritage status. It is recorded as an example of British Jacobean architecture the house is featured as the door and rear window are older and came from 1100ad from the Austin Friars Monastery. we have updated this to make a comfortable country getaway and with your own courtyard garden we can sit out in the sunshine and enjoy the country air.
