Tranquil House, a beautiful Caribbean Vacation Home sits comfortably on a hill in Long Bay, West End on the northwestern section of the main island of Tortola, British Virgin Islands. This property is surrounded by landscaped gardens with tropical flowers for the senses to enjoy. This four bedroom, three-bathroom split-level villa has magnificent, captivating views of the mile long, Long Bay beach and surrounding islands on the horizon. Tranquil House is very casual and ideal for a family or group.

Situated on a private estate, this vacation rental has been the perfect getaway for couples and families who appreciate secluded privacy and peace of mind. Recently renovated to a higher standard in 2004, you are welcomed by a large private swimming pool at the entrance. All bedrooms are air-conditioned, three bedrooms, the bathrooms and dining room are on the upper level. On the lower level is the fourth bedroom, living room and full kitchen with a large picture window that frames the view of Long Bay beach which is a mere four minute walk away.

The three separate patios and decks on this property provide our guest with cool tropical trade winds and the perfect setting to take in the mesmerizing afternoon sunset. location, location, location.

Loved it, a awesome home, Preston was terrific. All you need right there, beach chairs, snorkel gear and coolers. Tranquil house is an older home, with new appliances and upgraded bathrooms. The pool and other two decks were great. Thanks again Preston and Gilligan the local security dog.

HI we just came from our stay in Tranquil House. The first day we arrive we spent almost 3 hours without water also we did not have light outside the house including the pool. We arrive at 5pm so you can imagine that is not nice to be receive with this news. The master bedroom toilet never work during our 5 night stay. The second day they fix the pool light but the other lights outside the house never work. We spend the last night and the morning of the fifth day without water. The fridge never work well and our food was damage. The house is very well located (but you have to rent a car) and Preston the house manager is very nice but the house needs tons of work. The balcony of the house is very deteriorated meaning the wood is rotten. All of the appliances and furniture are very very OLD. They did not have water heater and the air conditioner never cool enough. We knew that the house was not new but being without water/light/fridge is not good or acceptable for anyone. We are very sad and disappointed. Definitely never staying again their. The house have tons of potential the owner should take note!!

beautiful view

This is our 4th time to stay at the Tranquil house and we returned for another 2 week stay. WE absolutely love the location on the West End. The view and the sounds are breathtaking. The house itself is adequate for our needs. If you want fancy, however, you need to keep looking. We were provided with coolers, chairs and beach towels for the beach which was extremely nice. There were new appliances in the kitchen which was a huge plus. The washer is still broken but Preston agreed to have someone do our laundry.

We still didn't have electric in two of the bathrooms which was really hard with 3 women!

The cell phone provided was so handy for numerous reasons.

We found several new places this trip. You must try the West End Bakery, Felix Harry, owner. It is awesome. We also found Smuggler's Cove, Long Bay on Beef Island out by airport, De Coal Pot Restaurant (great food and friendly service) and we experienced Foxy's Taboo and Bubbly Pool on JVD for first time.

We will be back to Tortola. Thank you for sharing your beautiful island!

We just returned from a month in Tranquil House, and we enjoyed it immensely. The view was as stunning on the 28th day as it was on the 1st. Long Bay beach, Belmont hill, Jost Van Dyke, passing sailing craft and motor yachts and, of course, the sea-- it is endlessly captivating.

It is true the house itself could use some work. There were things that needed fixing, like water, lights, leaky windows and washing machine, which never did work, although I believe it is fixed now.These are why (reluctantly) I could not give this property 5 stars.

But it doesn't matter. None of those things really matter. Preston fixed everything as soon as it was brought to his attention, except the washer (and he tried his best on that).

I can't say enough about Preston. He was always available, always helpful and made everything right. Because the washer didn't work, he took our laundry twice a week and returned it folded and on hangers. He had a water heater replaced in one day. I believe he could make his guests comfortable in a shack, and Tranquil House is no shack. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, the dining room very attractive and the pool and patio areas are wonderful, we spent hours there. It would not take much to make this a showplace.

If you like everything to be just so, you may be disappointed in Tranquil House. But if you are prepared to accept a few glitches to live for a while on the edge of Paradise, then you can do no better than this.

Missouri Gang

My husband and I decided to stay here for two weeks. We had 4 guests the first week and two the next.

The view, sounds of waves crashing into Long Bay Beach and night breezes were awesome! We never turned the air conditioner on during our stay. Preston, property manager, met us there upon a late arrival and very helpful in getting us all settled in.

The villa was clean, however, there were a few things that needed to be attended to. The lack of electrical outlets in two of the baths made things alittle difficult. The 4 slice toaster only half worked.

There were not dryers in each bath as indicated.

The gas grill on patio was awesome. Kitchen was stocked very well with dished, pots and pans of all sizes, coffee pot, microwave, etc.

Wi-fi was great, TV worked well, but the furniture in the living room needs to be updated. It is very worn and hard to get up off of as it sinks.

I would recommend this property to others as the price was very reasonable for its location, The pics are very accurate. Sebastian's is close and most of staff is friendly. Best two restaurants we found were

Bananakeet (best sunset on island) and Myett's in Cane Garden Bay. Ask Preston for Murlise's phone # if in need of a taxi. She lives just down the hill and is extremely accomodating.

We do plan to go back next year.

DO NOT leave door open to small balcony at night. Critters will eat their way through the screen looking for food!

Renter Beware

The view...priceless. The location....perfect. The need of serious updating. Pool nice, but the rest of the property is worn out. Broken furniture, cracked floor tiles throughout the property, rat bates on balcony. Not what we were expecting.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. This particular booking came through an agent and we were not aware of any difficulties or complaints during the stay at the villa. In any event, this is an older property (built 1960's) and renovated in 1996 with further improvements along the way. Since this review we have addressed what was mentioned. Cracked tiles which was in one bedroom has been fixed and replaced. Rat bait removed from balcony as this was not placed there by the owner/manager. Upon close inspection there was no evidence of broken furniture in the house. Again, although expectations were not met we have attended to the various issues brought to our attention. Thanks for taking the timeout for providing feedback.

The perfect pace to just relax and leave all your troubles behind. You can walk to the beach, also close to surfing at Bomba's Surfside Shack in Cappoons Bay.

What a wonderful GET AWAY! Tranquil House provided the much needed get away that we were seeking with the incredible views & surfing. So much around here. We love Evelyn and The Coal Pot and the food was delicious. Sebastian's was great and we had cocktails there. We found Nature Boy for coconut drink and beers on Long Bay beach. We loved Smuggler's Cove & its beauty as well. The Fish & Lime was nice for happy hour and enjoyed the food we had. Pussers had fun potato chip mountain appetizer that was outrageous & went well with the painkillers, et. etc. Bomba's was Bomba's and a hoot and our sons loved it.

We shall miss our retreat, the beauty and sound of the waves and that encompass the Tranquil House.

Thank you, Thank you!!.....Hate to return to the real world!! :-(
