This three-bedroomed stone-built cottage is in a convenient location in the picturesque Sett Valley within easy reach of the glorious Peak District countryside or the big-city delights of central Manchester. The friendly owner also runs the adjacent Grouse Inn, a traditional public house serving quality Chinese food and offering a well-stocked bar including a selection of real ales. A warm welcome is guaranteed, though if you prefer to prepare your own supper, you can take advantage of the well-appointed kitchen, including a double oven, five-ring hob and fridge freezer.
The wood-burning stove in the comfortable lounge will be a welcome sight for walkers returning from a hearty walk in the glorious surrounding countryside. Keen hikers and mountain-bikers can tackle the heights of Kinder Scout or Lantern Pike, both within sight of the cottage, or sample a stretch of the Pennine Bridleway which passes within 100 yards of the property. For the less energetic, the Sett Valley Trail, a converted railway trail that passes close by, offers easy walking or level cycling to the attractive stone-built village of Hayfield, setting for the BBC's drama series The Village, or to the nearest town of New Mills, offering local shopping and other amenities and access to the rail network for easy travel to Manchester, Sheffield, Buxton and beyond.
Off-road car parking is available for the motorist, though the village benefits from excellent bus links to Buxton, Glossop, New Mills and Stockport. Those with a car will find within easy travelling distance the delights of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, or the tourist hotspots of Bakewell, Buxton, Edale and the show caverns of Castleton.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the cottage, and dogs are not accepted.
The property sleeps six in comfort: there are two double bedrooms (one with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom) plus a twin room, with a second bathroom with shower. Newly decorated throughout to a high standard, Grouse Cottage guarantees a restful and comfortable stay. Our minimum stay is usually three nights, but this may be open to negotiation, especially during the off season. We are more than happy to answer enquiries and we look forward to welcoming you to Grouse Cottage.

We stayed for 3 nights in this excellently refurbished cottage. Brian the owner made us extremely welcome.
thanks for your review nice to meet you hope you come again
Very cozy and comfortable for 5 adults
Our family stayed here over the Christmas holiday so that we could be close to our friends and relatives. We were very happy with the cottage. Brian was very helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The beds are very comfortable and we appreciated having space to unpack our bags and make ourselves at home. The bathrooms are lovely and we were all impressed with the shower (even our 6'5" son!). The kitchen was well set up for our needs and we were very pleased to be able to cook our 20lb turkey in the oven to take to the family Christmas dinner. We enjoyed drinks in the pub next door and watching the TV by the fire in the cottage.
We did leave a few suggestions for kitchen utensils - like a potato peeler - and some more serving dishes - but that would be our only comment. We would certainly stay here again.
Beautiful location, Beautiful cottage & Fantastic Hosts
I would recommend this cottage without question fantastic cottage finished to a very high standard with everything you could ask for. Along with a pub/restaurant next door and extremely friendly owner and family made a perfect holiday. Will definitely be returning 😁
