Only a half mile walk to the beach, and situated across from St. Stanislaus athletic fields. Lovely art galleries, gift stores, antique stores, restaurants and bars abound. The large garden is fenced and safe for dogs. We have recently added a saltwater pool with ample comfortable lounging ,and seating surrounding it. The cottage is circa 1880's and was renovated two years ago which includes a fully equipped stainless steel and granite kitchen. The bathroom is modern with a tub and shower. We have just completed the addition of another bathroom, with stand up shower. Charming wrap around side porch (perfect for reading), and deck on back of home. Rooms are light and bright with high ceilings and fans. Washer and dryer in home. Large off street parking area. The property has three majestic oaks, and many birds abound.
Great location for a couple with dog(s)! No weight limit!

About Julia Kingham
We live in New Orleans and have been visiting BSL for many years. The contrast from the bustle of the city is really relaxing, and we find the locals welcoming and friendly. We are huge dog lovers and have often run into the dilemma of our dogs being large and having three total makes it almost impossible to find accommodation. So we are happy to open our home to responsible dog owners. Quite a few of the bars/restaurants allow dogs, which we really take advantage of.
Julia Kingham purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Julia Kingham chose Bay Saint Louis
It is walking distance to the beach and old town. We have comfortable outdoor seating for lounging and dining, and an all around well appointed and tastefully decorated cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
The old historic charm of this cottage reminds of us New Orleans, with the benefit of being walking distance to the water, and small town atmosphere.

You and your dog will love this house!
Charming, comfortable, convenient. Your dog is truly welcome here. The owner has made sure the dog will be as comfortable as you are! The house and yard were both as clean as a whistle when we arrived. Everything was in perfect working order. The cupboards and refrigerator contained generous staples for the renters' use. So many details are in place to make the renter (and dog!) comfortable. There's a little electric "fireplace" that was surprisingly cozy in January; soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. in the bathrooms; comfortable bed; a special dog cupboard containing everything you can think of for use by the renter (collars, leashes, brushes, shampoo, blankets, you name it); a handy dog door allowing your dog access to the large yard (which is a fascinating place full of balls and toys); washer and dryer in excellent condition; much more. Owner is very nice and helpful. A very helpful manual is provided. Perfect little cottage for a lovely get-away.
House was clean and comfortable. Pool was lovely.
My husband and I stayed here for our yearly vacation in BSL. We have stayed at several places over the years but this house by far is our favorite. We loved the house, the decor and it was plenty of room for the both of us. We especially enjoyed the pool. It was great to watch the baseball games across the street. We even went across the street one day and bought hamburgers and hot dogs from the concession stand. We will definitely be staying at this property again!!
Thank you so much for sharing your charming cottage on VRBO. Everything is so tastefully decorated and the yard & pool are beautiful. My women friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our five day stay and my little lab Bella gives it 4 paws up 🐾🐾! The only thing missing for her were your dogs to play with, ha ha, but she enjoyed picking up their scents around the yard. You have thought of everything and provided for your guests’ (human and canine) every need. Morning coffee on the comfortable and shaded side porch with a good book and the scent of magnolias and gardenias in the air was a particularly pleasant way to start the day. Followed by cycling through the neighborhoods (I brought my own bike), lazy afternoons in the pool and homemade margaritas at cocktail time, this was just what I needed. We were fortunate to be there on 2nd Saturday and enjoyed strolling along Main St. and the beachfront before dinner. I’ve stayed in several VRBO rentals in BSL since Katrina and yours ranks at the top. There are only a few 1-2 bedroom private cottages with pools (and I’ve now stayed in three of them) but yours is the only one that is dog-friendly. Don’t pay attention to the one strange & completely undeserving negative review because the neighborhood, just like all of the surrounding neighborhoods, is perfectly fine. Very peaceful and safe. I loved having the St. Stanislaus ballparks across the street where there were practices in the late afternoon and I would have enjoyed a game too if it were baseball or football season. The owners have clearly put a lot of work into creating their BSL oasis and are very generous to share it with others. I know because my husband and I are in real estate in New Orleans and have several rentals ourselves. I hope to be back next summer!
We had a great time here. Perfect and charming cottage. Great walking town with beautiful beaches. We were especially grateful for accommodating our dog. He was one happy pooch.
Bay St Louis
Two words.....NEVER AGAIN!!! We didn’t even stay one night of the six nights we were supposed to be there. In their defense...the inside of the house was very nice and clean. The problem was it is located in a horrible neighborhood and it was not dog friendly for our dog. The owner seemed very nice...it just wasn’t a good property for us.
Two words....THANK GOODNESS!!!! these guests didn't stay. Shortly after arrival we received a call from a concerned neighbor that there was a very loud domestic dispute (full of expletives) taking place on the front porch. This disturbance was followed by luggage being kicked from the porch, onto walkway and then kicked again into the parking area. (Damage to the porch resulted). There was some concern as to whether the police should be notified. However, upon being told the the guests had vacated realized it was not necessary. As the many reviews claim the home is very dog friendly, and has received zero complaints about such, or the neighborhood. We always appreciate being told that there will be dog(s) and if one asks for special needs we will do our best to provide. In this case we were not informed.
Every 2nd Saturday of the month is an artwalk that features the shops and galleries staying open a little later and offering music and libations. Some street entertainment is often present, and it is usually well attended. There are several casinos close by.
