We have recently stayed at this villa in mid September and have to say it really has the Wow! factor. I have stayed at the smaller villa Alcors on El Valle before, but the Villa Algaba is so much bigger. It's bordering on vast and has the added bonus of a larger pool too.
We arrived on a late flight so Andy didn't meet us which we were aware of,but he'd put the lamps on for us so as soon as we walked in it felt homely :-) The living area with it's high vaulted beamed ceiling is lovely and again, gives the villa a feeling of lots of space. All the bedrooms were a good size and having three WC's is always a bonus! As stated there is a dressing room off of the master bedroom which is ideal, and there is plenty of hanging space AND a hairdryer and GHD hair straightners to use, along with golf cubs etc ( We don't play golf though so not needed ) The villa was absolutely spotlessly clean so a special mention to Claire ( The cleaning lady ) as she'd done a wonderful job and was most impressed as all the towels were presented in little fan shapes on the beds etc, just like you would get in a hotel. This was a really nice touch.
Outside the living area again is vast.Plenty of good seating areas etc so all in all perfect for a party of 6.Nice BBQ area etc overlooking the golf course with beautiful views back over to the mountains.
I would have given this villa a 5 star review but, unfortunately we arrived to a fridge freezer not working.Obviously we appreciate these things happen, but it took us being there nearly 48 hours to get a replacement fridge, which is not great in 30 degree heat! Obviously we arrived late on in the evening so couldn't report the fridge problem until the following day,but not even a cool box or mini fridge ( Which would have been suffice ) was offered to us just to help us out until a replacement was found,so the everything in the welcome pack we'd bought in had to be binned.
As for the resort, it's a lovely quiet haven set in beautiful surroundings. It is remote so you do need to have a car to see the best of the area. The club house is nice with beautiful views across the Mar Menor in the distance. There are plenty of nice places to visit in and the Murcia region. The beaches along Los Alcazares are great and the shallow waters ideal for young families.A trip to Murcia city is a must too.
Despite the fridge glitch, I was still most impressed and can highly recommend.Cheers Paul :-)
First of the pictures shown particularly outside are very mis leading. The garden furniture was very dated and used and outside overall was dirty and in need of some TLC.
There is no American style fridge freezer as stated supplying cold water and ice.
On first impressions you think wow, but the longer you stay the more you realise that the villa has been left to deteriorate which is such a pity.
On our 3rd day we had no hot water, thinking it was just a glitch I left it until the following day to contact Sally who promptly arranged for a gas engineer to come out at 12 the following day.
On Wednesday I again had to contact Sally to ask when the pool man was coming as the pool was very murky and dirty, Sally arranged for the pool man to come the next day and he found that the pump system had not been working, which resulted in us not being able to use the pool for 3 days, but in fairness to the pool man he came everyday to treat the pool and by the Sunday the pool was clearing although that doesn't help with the amount of tiles that are missing!!!
We could not get the TV or the surround sound to work and the smell in the single toilet was of sewage and we had to keep that door closed throughout our stay, but even so the stench was still outside the building in the toilet area, I did not have the heart to complain to Sally about the TV or the stench as she was very helpful with the other issues.
We spent more time away from the villa than planned because of existing issues, and we will not be returning again.
It is very misleading.
We had a fantastic time at the villa. the villa is massive and had ample space for us, the living area inside the villa is huge and is comfortable with a large tv and wifi also. The outside space was fantastic, loads of space with a large pool, lots of seating it made for a fantastic base for our holiday. The resort itself is beautiful, really well maintained and the club house has brilliant views. Would highly recommend, can't wait to go back.
Large villa with plenty of space and all amenities available within lovely resort. Clubhouse excellent for meals/drinks on the terrace and supermarket well stocked with friendly staff. Nice play parks dotted around with one immediately across the road which my daughter enjoyed. We are not golfers but course looked good and two sets of clubs are available in the villa for renters to use. Not much else within walking distance (El Valle resort is quite large) so recommend hiring a car. Cartagena is a must for a visit, especially the Roman Ampitheatre and the mud baths near San Pedro del Pinatar are good fun. We made the trip to Valencia which is well worth the drive and stopped off at Denia on the way back for dinner. Denia is a stunning little town with a lovely harbour and a castle/mountain backdrop which creates a great setting for a sunset dinner. We had rest days too and both the inside and outside areas of the villa offer plenty of space to relax. Inside is in pristine condition but have to agree with earlier comments that some of the furniture outside is past its best and there are some tiles still missing from the pool but these are purely cosmetic and did not detract from our enjoyment. Would recommend this villa strongly and consider it to be exceptionally good value for money.
Stayed August/September family of 6 including children and grandparents.
The location is superbly quiet and peaceful on a large complex that has gated security that is mostly made up of expats and retired folk. However that is something we loved as everbody is very friendly and enjoying the sunshine.
El Valle is one of 5 golf resorts built by the troubled Polaris world (read the wiki report on them) but I have to say the quality of the villa build is superb. Inside the villa is a credit to the Hancock family as its quality fittings throughout. The master bedroom is tastefully done and this theme continues throughout with the large living area being a fantastic family space.
The aircon and sky sports TV made me feel right at home and I can see as a man connected with Sheffield FC he is football mad like myself.
The only let down I have to put is the state of outside. The seating furniture has seen better days and most of it has its back coming off. The pool is starting to miss a few small tiles and parts of the whitewash render are flaking. It's not a massive issues but a few days TLC and its back up to the 5 * its purportes to be. I can understand that currently being for sale this may explain the issues.
But on the whole this is a splendid villa which any of my family would return to again if still for rent.
You definitely require a car to get around and the supermarket on the site is excellent which is 5-10 minutes walk away. Next to that is the clubhouse which is fantastic value and offers amazing views down to the Mar Menor.
If you want a relaxing getaway I recommend.
A superb location and facilities. Paul was on hand before the break to give pointers and was really helpful with regards to providing information regarding the local amenities. Would have no issues recommending the property to friends or family, in fact we were that impressed that my wife has insisted that we return later this year.
Whether you come for the day to visit, a week staying in one of our wonderful properties or just playing a round of golf, a game of tennis or paddle, you will take in the stunning location set with the mountain backdrop and peacefulness you will go way looking forward to returning. El Valle is surrounded by natural park land.
There are only 685 properties on the secure resort, 325 of these are villas with own pools and the remainder are fabulous apartments. El Valle is less than 25 minutes from Murcia Airport, around 15 minutes from the new airport at Corvera that is due to open at the end of 2011, or only 55 minutes from Alicante Airport.
Travel to the nearest beaches on the Mar Menor is just over 20 minutes away to soft white sand, water sports and a host of other activities, please see our activities section. Don’t forget you can hire one of our car pre-programmed satellite navigation systems to help you get there. A car is essential.
Golf: El Valle, a medium-length, par-71 golf course, is situated in a beautiful natural desert valley. The golf course is routed in a 'core' format that groups several holes together while keeping the surrounding development on the perimeter. This means many holes border other golf holes and not houses, creating a more open and natural golf experience.
Rather than length, the course relies on numerous subtle strategic elements to challenge golfers. This course puts a premium on accuracy, not power, and favours the intelligent player who can manage his or her game
