About Mike & Jean Hare

Ola..and Welcome to our Little Oasis on the Costa Calida coastline overlooking the Mar Menor.

My wife Jean, and I had always wanted a 'Place in the Sun' and 12 years ago an opportunity arose for us to see that wish through, with the purchase of Miradores del Puerto, followed 2 years later by Marinesco 2.

We immediately were attracted to the area by the convenience of a 2.5 hour flight, the cosiness of landing at a small but very efficient airport at San Javier - and more importantly the apartment, its positioning and the surroundings, it just felt right.

We have tried to make each of our place's a 'home from home' thinking about what would be the perfect place to stay in if we were having a break abroad - and hopefully over the years of us owning them, we would like to think we have done so.

Solitary Confinement

Very Large comfortable 2 bed/2 bath. apt. Very Comfortable.

Everything is, as the owner Mike describes about the area is probably correct, if you go in the spring/summer.

No complaints about the apartment.

We came Feb '16 .........nothing opened...not one solitary thing except the supermarket.

The Marina with some nice looking shack restaurants...all closed!!!

The length of the strip (18 km) with more eating and drinking joints...closed!!!

If considering going winter eg. Oct. - Mar. be prepared to drive long distances to get anywhere open to eat, drink or see other humans (better not drink and drive) 18 km. to the start of the strip every time for the few open places not worth rating. Burger King !!!

If you like your own company, this is a great place to spend your winter break .

I must emphasise that the apartment is really great though, with all the comforts of home.

I have been in solitary confinement before and never thought I would repeat the experience especially as I haven't done anything wrong.

We were one of two apartments occupied. About 400 in all.

The owner Mike is so helpful and amiable on the phone, and with his informative emails (thank you Mike) although his manager John needs a few lessons in manners.

Our 'pre-arranged' welcome point was ignored and after waiting in a car park for an hour we called by phone to be told to make our own way to the apartment, 18 km away!!!!! It's nice to be told!

Very stressful experience after a 6 hr drive.

Also, having a key holder (very nice helpful people I may add) enter the premises for repairs when we were out was invasive and rude. The safe still doesn't work.

An email does not suffice.....seeing as we were miles away looking for somewhere open.

There is an underground garage reserved for the apartment right beside the lift.. BRILLIANT.... rudely parked in by the only two other occupants.

They never expected a very agitated Irishman to lay in wait for them in the dark beside their nice new shiny undamaged car. Best to keep it that way!

After that, it never happened again and they were very nice to avoid me for the duration of our stay.

There is a whole world of places to visit for winter sun, food, scenery, and socialising...this isn't one.

18 km !!!

Owner's Response: We really appreciate our guests feedback, as without this we would not be in a position to either maintain or improve on their experience. I am so pleased the apartment was to their liking as we have spent a considerable amount of time making sure it is "Home from Home" with as many comforts in there as you would expect in your own home - and sincere apologies for the safe being locked by the previous occupant, even though there are instructions on the safe asking for it to be left open to ensure who so ever is following in to the apartment can make full use of this facility. I have also passed onto our Management company your comments and I am sure John meant no offence in asking you to meet up with our back up team with keys at the apartment - there had been sudden fatality within the family and I know this will have been the first time in the 6 years of making use of MMPS they would have let a guest down. Yes it is very quite, we cannot guarantee restaurants to be open in the Winter period as pointed out in our introduction letter, and in all honesty this is the perfect place for long term lets from November through to March/April, as there is not as much demand or need to dine out every night, and one treats the experience as being at home, making full use of the apartment facilities, Separate full kitchen, great fresh produce from the modern supermarket 2 minutes away, full UK TV facilities including all the Sports Channels and a Film Library offering 690 films updated every month - plus if required full heating - warm air and underfloor in every room. I really do hope our guests will return as many do year on year and sample the other seasons, hospitality and great facilities of the Mar Menor.

Perfect Location

The apartment location is perfect, quiet, but within a few minutes there is a supermarket, two restaurants and a bar, about 10 minutes walk towards the marina are many bars and restaurants. There is a daily ferry to mainland Spain, and a good bus service to take you up and down the strip.

The apartment was well equipped and clean.

Great location, full comfort, unbeatable price.

The apartment is in very good condition and offers everything you need for an extended stay. The location is perfect, with residential pool, nearby shopping, beaches, restaurants and marina. Mike spared no effort in making the arrangements uncomplicated and communication was perfect. We will definitely return and recommend this property to our friends.

Lovely relaxing holiday

Our first visit to La Manga Strip was a great success. Brilliant weather and beautiful beaches. The apartment was lovely - clean, well maintained, well equipped and in a great location in that we didn't have too far to walk to the supermarket, beaches or restaurants. We also enjoyed being at the quieter end of the Strip. The apartment swimming pool and gardens were also clean and well maintained. We had dinner at a different restaurant at the Marina every night and they were all excellent, especially the Mexican and Pizza del Mare. There is an excellent bus service up and down the strip. We took the ferry from the Marina to Santiago de Riberia which was a lovely trip across the Mar Menor. The whole family enjoyed their La Manga holiday and we would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone.

A very relaxed and layed back holiday

We arrived at the apt and was met by Ness who showed us around the apt, the welcome pack gave us a good start so we didn't have to rush to the supermarket.

I was really surprised by what a good supermarket Supersol was , it has everything and lovely fresh baguettes. just by the supermarket which opens at 9 in the morning you also have a Burger King and there are another couple of bars there but i don't know what they actually serve as we didn't use them they weren't really geared up for the season and some bars are still closed as we went out 4th May.

The marina has lots of bars but a bit limited to tapas and pizzas but a real good find is Marios, Chinese food at its best and Martin was an excellent front of house..

.Captain Moonies a bit further on varies from one night to the next so i cant recommend it , one night was really good , 2 nights later must have been a different chief , not the same meal at all.

Fabulous sunsets from this side of the Marina.

Round the other side was Sinatra s Tapas bar , Fabulous meatballs and the baked potatoes made by Rosa, Ness works here part time so this is where i found myself between 11 and 2 sat talking to Bill and Ness watching the world go by.

We went on the ferry to Santiago , it only takes 40 mins , 4 euro one way , market day it Wed at the top of the town, we also went on the Sunday and there was a craft fair on the front and all the kids rides where open , Buddies English bar is now called Barracuda , and they do a really good breakfast, you will find this if you go straight across the road from the ferry up a small back st and turn first right , it is on your left.

We would hire a car if going again ( only out of season as the strip get's really busy July August)

I found the buses on the strip a total wast of time , i only saw one all week.

Ness and Dave who look after the apt are really friendly and will do all they can to make sure your holiday goes well , i couldn't fault them , they keep the apt in tip top condition and it was spotless, the furniture is very nice , beds are very comfortable, the safe is in an awkward position in the bottom of the wardrobe but we managed . would i go here again , .................yes very possibly ,

would i recommend this apt , ...........yes most certainly,

once you get used to how quiet the strip is that is when you begin to appreciate its locality . The weather was fabulous with only 1 half days rain all week.

Peaceful, relaxing just great

We stayed at the apartment last October (2008) We took my three year old daughter and we had a lovely time.

The weather was reasonable and we had a great time.

The apartment was incredibly clean and had everything that you could ever need - even the beach chairs, which were a real God send! never thought that I would do the washing but having a child it was great to have the washing machine on hand.

The only problem I had was the mosquitos! Not in the apartment but as we walked round - there had been storms the week before.

la Managa Strip is not the most picturesque place in the world but it was a lovely holiday and it is a safe place to take young children, with local parks etc.

Will definately be going back - especially if the apartment is available!

In all honesty the appearence of mosquitos are as rare as the storm that brought them in. The La Manga Strip is 22Km of land which juts out from the Costa Calida coast and creates the South west surround of the Mar Menor (Little Sea). With in the province of Murcia, it boasts 322 days of sunshine a year, and therefore one of the mildest climates of Spain. This has resulted in the name Coast Calida - 'The Warm Coast'.

The strip at its narrowest point is 100 metres wide and at its widest is 1.5km, with 44km of beaches, the protected bays and coves are on he Mar Menor side with the water boasting temperatures of approximately +4 degrees higher than its counter part, The Mediterranean - with the marina being some 18km along the strip.

Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and Caravaca dela Cruz present most of the history in the region, with Murcia being the home to the 600 year old Santa Maria Cathedral - the highest in Spain. Cartagena is an exceptionally beautiful city with Roman and Byzantine battlements visible to the public and walking tours can be arranged if requested.

Other Activities: Go Karting - Bird Sanctury - Great Markets Daily. Ferry across Mar Menor

Golf: With in 30 minutes you can be playing one of the 3 famous courses at The exclusive La Manga Club with an array of famous Who's Who of the sporting world, and the first choice of many continental football teams Winter training and pre-season training camps.

Further a field there are some great Polaris World/Jack Nicolas Golf courses at Mar Menor, Hacienda Requelmie and La Torre - all with very reasonably priced Green fees.

Fees No additional mandatory fees

* Confirmation will be accepted with a £100 per booking non-refundable deposit.
* Standard Check Out Time is 10.00 am, the day of departure - However, should a "Late Check Out" be required due to Flight Times the apartment can be yours for the Full Day of Departure for just an additional payment of £30 (If available) - please let us know when making the provisional booking and completing the Booking Confirmation Form.
* Final payments must be received 6 weeks prior to arrival at the apartment.
* Should the booking date fall within the 6 week of departure - full payment must be made at the time of booking
* The above prices include: Pre-clean, Welcome Pack, Sat & UK TV, iPod Docking Station, Linen & Towels, Air Conditioning & Wifi
