When choosing a place to stay, I always look for certain criteria: great reviews, cleanliness, lots of charm, and good value. This place has it all! The fact that Ronald is a helpful and personable host is an added bonus! The location is great -- a quiet spot yet a short walk to the action. The photos accurately capture the boat's charm. Our children loved the unique experience that reflects life in the city, and our trip to fabulous Amsterdam was perfect…largely due to our three nights in Ronald's houseboat!
Hello! My name is Thomas, 13 years old, and me and my family + my cousin went to Amsterdam from April the 7th to the 10th and all we can say is that this boat made the trip.
When we got home, super tired, me and my cousin could just lay down on the couch and wait until my parents made dinner!
Everything on the boat was in good condition.
We will like to take this opportunity to say thank you Ronald and the boat tomaking this trip to the best!
Best Regards Thomas and family Granbohm.
We are a family of 3 adults and stayed in Ronald's house boat for a week. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed getting to experience our dream of staying on a houseboat in Amsterdam. The location was in a very peaceful neighborhood, yet we were in walking distance from shops, restaurants and train station. The location was perfect for us as we explored the vibrant city, but loved coming back and having room to relax in our own space. My husband loved sitting on the dock watching the boats while enjoying a glass of wine before dinner. Ronald was very helpful and had great communication. We definitely hope to return some day!
We stayed in Ronald's house boat for a week and had a wonderful time. Our visit happened to coincide with the annual Gay Pride Parade which begins right in front of the dock where the boat is, so we were in the center of the events which was great. The rest of our stay was very peaceful and quiet which describes the neighborhood; plus, we were walking distance from shops and restaurants. So the location is truly perfect.
My husband and I stayed on Ronald's houseboat for six nights and enjoyed every second (of course, we didn't take the kids with us, so that probably helped! - though the boat is very kid friendly...) The photos of the property were accurate. The houseboat was clean, spacious, well maintained and very comfortable. The shower had plenty of water pressure and good hot water. The kitchen had all the modern conveniences. It was really great to be able to have a leisurely breakfast before heading out sightseeing for the day.
The location of the houseboat is so convenient - but it's quiet at night, too. There are shops only about a 5 minute walk away: grocery store, wine shop, butcher shop and cheese shop. Plus the whole Jordaan area is so beautiful and filled with outside cafes. One of our favorite parts of the day was to buy a couple of good beers (or wine), some cheese and other goodies and sit on the deck and watch the setting sun. The weather was beautiful, so there were all sorts of people out on their boats enjoying the canals. My husband called it the "anything goes, parade!" :)
For a good Italian meal, I would recommend eating at Café de Curtis in the Jordaan area, but make a reservation first. For other fun things to do in Amsterdam, see the following website: http://thomer.com/amsterdam/
Ronald was a fantastic host - very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to visit again! Thanks Ronald!
Our Family (2 daughters) stayed on the cosy houseboat for four nights and found evrything as expected from the descriptions.
The host welcomed us friendly, provided us with a map of the city and gave us tipps ( in addition to the guides about Amsterdam which were there).
Everything was perfect (even the weather!) and we enjoyed our stay fully!
If we could make one wish that would be a toaster (since we are not used to eat the sliced bread untoasted)... But we would even come again without this useful gadget.
Also we liked the central but still rather quiet location.
And finally we thank Ronald for his flexibility concerning dates of our Trip.
