Very spacious, comfortable and airy living-dining room, well equipped; very well-equipped kitchen in terms of both cooking and laundry facilities, comfortable beds and pillows; very well-situated apartment in central Aix-en-Pce which made everything easily accessible, food shopping, train station, car hire, exploring the town on foot; very stylish building. We really appreciated the fact that Laurent waited for us even though we were late arriving as our train had been delayed.
Here are the less positive aspects of our stay: there were too few bath towels for four adults. Equally, hanging space in the smaller bedroom would have been welcome, plus a working central light.

I stayed here in January with my family of five. We absolutely loved this apartment. The location was superb: the best address in Aix-en-Provence without a doubt. We didn't even want to go out. In fact, after a few weeks traveling, we treated ourselves to a day in, just lounging about reading and watching tv. The kitchen was well-equipped, the shower was huge, the wifi worked. What more could you want? Aix-en-Provence is such a lovely town. Very easy to get around on foot, and like a postcard every time you turn down another street. We loved the Cezanne walk and especially the Musee Granet. It's also a great base to explore surrounding towns such as Arles and Avignon. (Make sure you leave enough time for Avignon. We rented a car and drove to Arles first and then rushed through Avignon, which was even nicer.)
Communication was excellent and the introduction to the apartment was seamless., with someone waiting there for us at the nominated time.
We had the pleasure of staying here for 2 weeks recently and loved it.
(1) Best location: This is a beautiful, elegant building in a beautiful, elegant city. The location is fantastic, right by the Roi Rene at the end of the Cours Mirabeau. From the flat, we had a beautiful view of the Cours on one side (no other building in front) and red tiled rooftops, churches and the mountains on the other side. We could see the markets unfold in the mornings and street performers in the evenings from our bedroom windows. Almost everything is within walking distance. Within minutes on foot, we could reach all the markets, bakeries (including 24-hour bakery La Varenne), the Granét, Caumont Centre d'Art , restaurants, cinema, supermarkets, hairdressers, pharmacies (one in the building), wine stores (one in the building - Jolie-Pitt Perrin vineyard), all kinds of shops, etc. Bus and train stations are about 15 minutes on foot. We took the bus regularly to go to Marseille (30 mins on the comfy bus). Many of the buildings nearby have something to do with Cézanne so it's fun to do a Cézanne trail with older kids.
(2) Comfortable, spacious, clean and well-equipped: There are 2 bedrooms and a loft with a sofa bed. The LR/DR is large, sunny and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to feed a family. We ended up not cooking because you can get the most wonderful fruit, vegetables, cheese, olives, roast chicken, pork, quail, duck and rabbit, lots of saucissons, quiches, ratatouille, etc at the daily market. We had a daily feast just by strolling to the market and hauling in the treasures of the day. The kitchen is equipped with tons of dishes, pots and pans, cups and glasses, and a quiet dishwasher. Washing machine is in the small closet in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of towels and pillows. Air conditioning works fine but we could manage without it at night by opening windows. Wifi and landlines worked well.
(3) The manager: She was the best. She gave us detailed and clear instructions and answered our emails and phone calls promptly even at weekends and evenings. She left a lovely bottle of local rose to welcome us. Thank you!
We plan to return next year for a longer stay, and recommend it highly for families with older children and those who wish to be car-free. There is a taxi stand right outside the building if you need one. Overall, we had the best possible Aix experience at the heart of the city!
Really delightful characterful and stylish apartment - very special. A little noisy at night with the windows open, but there was a carnival over the weekend we were there. So convenient for restaurants, cafés, shopping and La Musée Granet. We would recommend a guided visit to the Carrières Bibemus, where Cézanne painted many of his landscapes. This can be booked through the tourist office.
A commanding position right in the centre of Aix, looking down the Cours Mirabeau, and everything a short walk away. Spending 11 weeks there, we got to know and love it – although that’s probably possible just by looking at the photos. Being on the top floor of an old “hotel” (mansion), the apartment gets lots of sun from both the southern side and front of the building – important for us in winter. Excellent views across rooftops, and down the Cours – where all sorts of things happened, including the Christmas chalets and parades. Stacks of room with two complete bedrooms, as well as a sofa on the mezzanine, and with a well equipped kitchen that is relatively large for such places. Exceedingly well managed, and well maintained.
Numerous shoe shops, hairdressers and opticians immediately downstairs, plus every other possible shop. Cafes and restaurants within a short walk in every direction. A walk to the daily market, but markets reach nearby three days weekly. You’d need many months to discover facilities even within a three-minute stroll, such as the Jeu de Paume theatre. A top cake shop right at the door, although you might need to hunt down the cheese shop in the Passage.
As well as a very grand staircase, the building has a lift, for which tenants need a key. As luck would have it, the lift was out of action once when we had to lug suitcases upstairs, and again when we finally left. After nearly three months, we’d have to find a few irritations, but other than mentioning the noisy street some nights, they would be ridiculously niggardly to hint at, and I would not want to put anyone off. Much as we’d like, we’re probably not going to get lucky enough to return for any length of time.
