Very clean and tidy with good facilities. Quiet and peaceful location.

Our family had a lovely holiday staying at this villa.

It was exceptionally clean and comfortably appointed with good facilities.

Our Satnav couldn't locate the house but did take us easily to the area and then the directions we were given made it simple to find and was an easy drive from Lisbon airport.

The location of the villa is good for visiting towns and villages and all the local tourist attractions. The house information folder helped tremendously with planning our itinery.

The property management company were excellent and Louise there helped us with any issues we had and made sure that our holiday went without any problems.

The property was accurately described, although I think the photos on the website undersold the property!

We sampled most the local cafes and many of the restaurants and bars and all of them were very good or excellent.

The highlights of our holiday for us was Peniche beach (surf is fantastic), Obidos castle and the winery tours we did.

Not to be missed is the sour cherry brandy that is made in this region (we went on a tour of the factory and turned out to be the cheapest place to stock up on this) We went on long walks around the lagoon and the wildlife there is amazing.

Overall we had a very relaxing and restful holiday.

Car hire is essential for this villa because of its location and also to be able to visit all the fantastic areas in the Oeste Region.

Great and stylish place to relax

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a great family holiday this year in the villa. Contact with the owners was always easy (as well as friendly and fast). Thanks to the detailed description it was no problem to find the holiday villa and we found the property well-maintained and exactly like the description (so have a look, what you see is what you get!!). It's a great place to relax and enjoy the nearby beaches at the lagoon, Peniche and so on. Since the Atlantic Sea is rather cold even in August our children enjoyed bathing in the pool every afternoon. The surrounding is very quiet and you need a car for your stay. We can recommend this holiday villa to everybody who likes nature, outdoor sports and sightseeing (we went to Obidos and Lisboa).

Fantastic stay by Obidos Lagoon

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find the villa beatifully clean and inviting. The layout is very sociable and preparing meals was easy and a pleasure in such a well fitted kitchen.

The pool was enjoyed by all and being positioned at the rear of the property made it much more private than some of the other villas in Perola da Lagoa.

Both the property management company and Jana were most helpful and informative before, during and after our stay.

A fabulous holiday location, particularly for families and a fabulous villa made our holiday complete. Might make it Portugal's Silver Coast three years in a row!!

Thanks again Jana and Barry :)

A very chill-axed experience!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late on a Saturday night and were delighted with our welcome pack to get us started. The house was exactly as described and it was absolutely spotless. The open living space works well and all the family can be together, yet doing their own thing. It is a rural location, up in the pine forest, yet you are 5 mins walk to the lagoon and 5 mins drive to the Atlantic ocean.

Our 3 young teenagers, never once said they were bored. Between the pool, the large T.V. with satellite stations and american comedy programmes, the DVD player and the bikes provided, they enjoyed themselves. Having their own bathrooms off the bedrooms was a big plus for them too.

The pool was cleaned once during our 2 week stay and prior to our arrival. One evening, we realised there was a problem with the gas supply and were able to contact the property maintenance management easily, who knew what was happening and were able to get the problem sorted promptly.

The weather was blissful, hot but with a balmy breeze so you didn't perspire - I think this is the climate of Portugal for mid-July anyway. It was our first time in Portugal and the climate definitely suited us all.

There is a great supermarket in Obidos, 15 mins away, called Pingo Doce. We also picked up fresh bread down at one of the cafes on Bom Successo beach - great reason to get out for the early morning walk along the magnificent Lagoon Walkway.

Obidos is a jewel, set on a hilltop, and well worth walking down all of its streets. We loved the beach at Bom Successo, which is vast and we had no problem setting up camp. Water is shallow in places and great for small kids who want to paddle. There are also lifeguards on site.

As a family, we ate in both restaurants down at the beach and found them very good - lots of fish dishes, but you can also get steak and pasta. The kitchen is the house is well kitted out and encourages cooking at home. We were very relaxed on this holiday and happy to hang out at the house for the majority of our stay - thats the kind of place it is!!

We spent fantastic holidays in Portugal. Started in Algavre and our last destination was Silver coast. We stayed in the villa for a week and enjoyed it. The area is not spoilt, the house is really very nice furnished and comfortable, we had our own barbecue outside and a lot of fun and activities at the lagoon. Will consider coming back. Wonderful weather in October.

We really enjoyed staying in this house. It is a fantastic place with a nice style. And the pool was so great.

Excellent stay

  • 5 of 5

We rented Jana's vacation house in Portugal for a week in March. We really liked the quite of the area and the fact its located away from all types of commotion. Great place to relax, but close enough to so many beautiful places to the medieval walled village of Obidos, Sao Martinho do Porto, Foz do Arelho. You should definitely have a car to rent here. There are 2 mountain bikes available and we use them on the trails around the small lagoon near by.

The house is brand new, with modern lines, and lots of light. It has a fully equipped and open kitchen where everything works! We ended up cooking in almost every day instead of going out for dinner as the fire place made the house too cozy to get out. All the rooms have great big windows so they have plenty of light. This is especially the case with the master bedroom with floor to ceiling corner windows that open to a private veranda. We really enjoyed our stay.

I would recommend this house and renting from Jana to any friend!

Less than an hour drive from Lisbon, this beautiful part of Portugal offers breathtaking views, beaches that seem to go on forever, picturesque villages and leisure activities for all year round. The sky is blue most of the time, the countryside is green and the weather is mild enough to enjoy even in winter.

Until fairly recently the Silver Coast was one of Portugal's best kept secrets, a place of hidden treasures, known only to locals. But over the last few years the charm of the Silver Coast has attracted more and more discerning tourists who prefer holidays away from the crowds.

With the Atlantic on its doorstep the Silver Coast is the place to come for seafood. The wines are great too - ranging from drinkable, inexpensive table wine to one of Portugal's rarest and most expensive labels.

Markets and monasteries, countryside and culture, beaches and bargain-hunting - and of course what to do with the children if the rain comes down.

There are places here where miracles are said to have happened, sites of superb royal architectural folly, monumental buildings that will take your breath away, famous places like Fatima that draw pilgrims from all over the world, and places where it is still possible to lose yourself in lanes and alleyways where life is lived at a pace remembered from a world long gone. The best way to experience it all is to park the car and wander the streets on foot.

In the Silver Coast region there are more UNESCO World Heritage sites than in any other part of the country. Three of Portugal's seven architectural wonders can be found here. But don't just come for the culture. The towns are also where the nightlife, arts, restaurants and shopping are to be found.

Places to visit:

Sintra, Fatima, Obidos, Alcobaca, Leiria, Caldas da Rainha, fishing village of Peniche, Baleal, Foz do Arelho, Sao Martinho do Porto, Berlenga Islands - famous Bird Sanctuary and nature reserve (about 35 min. by boat from Peniche).

The villa is just 500m from Obidos Lagoon - the largest sea-water Lagoon in Portugal, great for sheltered swimming, quiet walks, cycling, fishing, horse riding and water sports including sailing, water skiing, wind surfing and canoeing. Within 5 min drive - the Atlantic Ocean with its wild vistas of crashing waves, which attract surfers from all around the world. The impressive cliffs of Silver Coast coupled with long streched sandy beaches are blessed with truly spectacular views. Villa is nestled in tranquil surroundings of the Lagoon, eucalyptus and pine forest nature reserve and rural countryside. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants where you can sit, relax and enjoy the sunset with a glass of fantastic Portuguese wine. There are several local vineyards nearby to visit which offer wine tasting (wine is good quality and value). Small local villages around will surprise you with the best Portuguese gastronomy with its superb value for money. Three World Class Golf Courses are very close and easily accessible - Royal Obidos, Bom Sucesso and Praia del Rey. New Royal Obidos Spa and Golf Resort representing an investment of 200 million Euros, designed by Severiano Ballesteros, includes a touristic and residential complex, as well as an 18 hole golf course and is just in short distance from our estate. The historic town Obidos recently voted as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal is the pride of the region and a cultural centre of Silver Coast. It`s a fantastically preserved medieval Portuguese town, classified as Heritage Site and National Monument, traditionally the gift of Potuguese Kings to their Queens.

Obidos is is a cultural centre of the Silver Coast and an all year round destination for tourists with its famous festivals such as Medieval Festival, Chocolate Festival, Easter Celebrations, Opera and other cultural events.

The area has always been popular with Portuguese themselves as a weekend getaway from nearby Lisbon and as a beach holiday destination.
