About Traci and Laith Hensley, on-site managers
Both from New England, the owners wanted a cool, summer mountain getaway for skiing, hunting, sledding and snowmobiling in the winter, and for hiking, biking, fishing, 4-wheeling and ATVing the rest of the year. The property was developed in the 80's and many improvements have been made including the adjacent 5-bedroom Ridge House built in 2009. The on-site managers, Coral and Steve Ashton, have been managing the property for about 10 years and the guests love them!
Traci and Laith Hensley, on-site managers purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Traci and Laith Hensley, on-site managers chose Greer
Greer is a place where you can get away from it all - the traffic, fast-food restaurants, and a face-paced city life. it's great to just walk out your door or drive a few minutes to our favorite spots. Greer is a small mountain village where you can have the conveniences of home without the stress. It's quiet but not too remote. You can walk to the oldest lodge in Arizona for dinner and a drink at the bar, or across the street to fish for native trout in the Little Colorado River.
What makes this Cabin unique
Antler Ridge is located in the center of town within walking distance to just about anywhere in this unique Arizona village with a year-round population of only 125 and less than 700 lots developed with beautiful vacation homes. It's the closest town to Sunrise Ski Park, Arizona's largest ski area, without the heavy traffic from Pinetop. You're on the slopes in 20 minutes and snowmobiling or cross-country skiing on developed trails just 10 minutes away. Kayaking or canoeing on the 3 Greer Lakes is only 2 miles away and there are many beautiful hiking trails in the forest minutes from your door that extend throughout the National Forest. Greer is also located in Arizona's Area 1 with some of the best elk hunting in the country.

checked in mon. 8/13, later in evening discovered a big leak in kitchen sink. went to office tuesday morning but sign on door said closed till 1:00 pm came back at 2:pm and office was closed for day. tv quit working also. went to office at 8:37 wed. morning, sign said back at 1:00pm. left for the day and came back late afternoon and found manager, he fixed sink and got tv working. sat out on patio to enjoy the view but the view was of your maintenence yard and the garbage enclosure. your web site never showed any pictures of the patio views so we had no idea what unit to pick. probably won't be back. checked out thur. with no problems.
paid almost five hundred dollars for three nights so expected more.
We are sorry that housekeeping didn't let our maintenance person about the leak and that the TV gave you trouble. Our manager was around all day on Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th except for a short time running errands. She may not have been sitting in the office but doing laundry and didn't hear the bell. When cleaning cabins, she puts a note saying which cabin she is in. She didn't find a note or receive a call from you. She always leaves her cell number on the door when off property so she can be reached for circumstances like these. In regards to the view, there is a picture of the this cabin's very nice view from the porch on VRBO with a ridge in the background across the street and the pond a short distance away. The nearby dumpster is enclosed with brown split-faced block and trash is picked up twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. You can see the barn, extra parking area and stone bonfire circle/pit through the trees but even that isn't unappealing and kept tidy.
The cabin fell short of the sleeping arraignment and was not advertised truthfully
we expected to have a fold out couch or futon for a guest and ended up with a grungy couch. After contacting management they blamed VRBO for the false information. BBQ grill was so gross and full of grease and started a grease fire. Cabin was grungy. lack of upkeep and maintenance. it appears the previous customer is responsible for cleaning. Never again would i stay here.
We apologize for the issues with your stay and will provide you with a discount. Over the years, furniture gets replaced/exchanged among our cabins and the VRBO listing is updated and verified accordingly. Due to a technical issue with VRBO, our most recent changes were lost. We are truly sorry that your extra guest was uncomfortable which is why I am surprised you didn't accept our offer to use the rollaway bed we have onsite. Your other comments have been shared with our new cleaning staff and we appreciate you letting us know. Renovations are on-going and this cabin has just received many exterior improvements and is scheduled for a kitchen renovation. Thank you again for your time.
The pictures online do not accurately depict the property interior. While the cabin appeared clean, (except under the beds -gross), the cabin interior is extremely outdated. The couch and chair are old leather and worn looking. The dining table was wobbly and had a folded up piece of paper under one side in an attempt to fix it, which it didn’t. The dish network only had a few channels available. Even basic channels were locked and said a password was required. The TV was tiny but at least the DVD player worked. The cabin was poorly insulated and was hot during the day, even with windows open and very cold at night with all the windows closed. I would not have rented this cabin if the pictures had been more accurate. The large main cabin is part of the photos which is very misleading . The exterior of the tiny cabin we had was not included in the online photos.
I appreciate you taking the time to review your stay and I'd like to address your comments. Cabin 4, also know as Mountain Vista, is a 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin that was built in the early 80's so renovations are ongoing. The rate of $125/night is appropriate for this cabin and the amenities provided. Cabin 4 is in the center in the online photo and the interior photos are accurate. I've removed the few pictures of our other cabins I thought a prospective customer might be interested in to avoid confusion. This cabin does have new countertops, exterior siding, some new windows and decking, and I am glad to hear you thought the cabin was clean. Finding a few down feathers from the comforter and a piece of lining from the box spring under the bed shouldn't be a problem. The temperature inside the cabin is a function of the weather. Greer averages 75 degrees in summer so rental cabins don't have AC. There is baseboard heating in each room and our managers are on hand to help you if you are unfamiliar with this type. Lastly, we have the basic Dish network channel package plus Pac 12 and a popular movie channel, and our managers are happy to help guests who have not used it before. It sounds like your box just needed to be reset. We also have a large video library, games, books and magazines in the office to borrow. Our managers are onsite most of the day and saw you on your deck but said you never complained or came by the office for assistance. We understand that some people are uncomfortable asking for help so our guest books in each cabin have some tips to help you better enjoy your stay. Our goal is for every guest to have a memorable, comfortable stay at this beautiful spot in the mountains.
We had a wonderfully relaxing time. The manager was very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect. We could walk to the restaurants and wander through the back roads ... with our dogs! We will definitely be back. The only thing that was disappointing was that the local diner was not dog friendly. They would not allow our dogs on the front patio even though there was plenty of space where we wouldn't bother anyone. We got our order to go and took it back to our pet friendly cabin!
We are glad you liked the cabin and could enjoy your pets in the mountains. As far as pet friendly goes - we love bringing our dogs. I think the diner has had complaints about dog owners not managing their dogs. It is disappointing to have to leave them behind but some people ruin the privilege for everyone else. Hope to see you back again soon!
Great place. Clean, simple, and totally relaxing. Managers are great. We will be back!

Nice Location for a Greer Vacation
First let me say that my husband and I decided we would stay in Pinetop-Lakeside if we visit the area again. Businesses are closer by and there are several good restaurants in Pinetop. The lakes near Greer are really nice and we drove to several of them while we were there. We also drove to the Petrified Forest National Park and saw the painted desert, which is gorgeous. The fish were not biting, but locals said they would be by later on in August.
For restaurants, Greer has Molly Butler (terrible) and The Rendezvous Diner (which was always busy, but we didn't try it).
Now for the managers at Antler Ridge cabins. Traci and Laith were very pleasant and obliging (when we could find them), and even cleaned our grill when we complained that it was very dirty from (probably numerous) people who had used it previously, and no grill brush was provided.
They do not really keep the "office" hour stated outside the door, so you have to catch them when they are around if you want to speak to them about something.
The cabin itself is just that: a CABIN. We found the bed to be hard and not really comfortable, but maybe that is normal at a cabin. The entire cabin could have used a really, thorough, good cleaning, and the hood over the range was filthy. We also found a really dirty pan in the oven that we washed out to use. If cleanliness is a high priority, these cabins would not be for you.
The windows (which we opened every afternoon/evening to cool off the cabin) were of poor quality and EXTREMELY difficult to slide back and forth.
The location was nice, quiet and peaceful, and we met a few of the neighboring vacationers, who were pleasant and friendly. Children seemed to really enjoy the pond the first few days we were there.
Wi-fi was "spotty" at best (the network is dial-up), and you continually needed to re-establish a connection to the internet if you were searching for something. Sometimes you just needed to give up and try again later.
It took us awhile to figure out the TV system, work the remote, and find anything to watch, although we did (thanks to my husband).
Toilet paper, paper towels, a dish washing sponge and a little dish and bath soap were provided, plus salt, pepper, and maybe a few sugar packets. Plan to bring everything else with you.
I appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review and will address each comment. Antler Ridge Cabins in Greer is a mountain escape from the hustle and bustle...no traffic lights or fast food restaurants. It's a small town with a year-round population of 125 people and it's not for everyone. As most would expect given the name, our rentals are "cabins" and not represented as luxurious on the web or in pictures.
During these busy months, housekeeping can miss things but do their best to give guests a thoroughly cleaned cabin. It's possible that the cleaning of a hood or a dirty pan in the oven can be missed. Guests don't always check out on time and this limits the cleaning time available and causes them to be hurried. It was brought it to my attention that you arrived the morning after the first night of your scheduled stay and that you were still occupying the cabin several hours after you were to checkout a few days later. Housekeeping was unable to ready the cabin for the guests to check in the following day. When my manager called me we decided not to charge you for another night as hotels and most other properties would, but offered you a discounted rate if you wanted to add a night to your stay - which you did.
The restaurant choices are limited at this time but Molly's has been consistently good when we have eaten there this summer and we haven't hear any complaints from other guests. We always get great reviews on The Rendevous. There is also a cafe in town and several restaurants a 20 minute drive away in Eagar and Springerville. We provide available menus in our guest books.
Game and Fish stocks the river and lakes with fish but they go deep when it's especially warm and the fishing can be challenging but our guests can enjoy our stocked pond.
This is our busiest time and as a result our managers are busy with cleaning, maintenance and yard work during your stay but leave a sign on the office door where to find them or how to reach them by phone.
The internet in Greer only has so much capacity and during high use times of the day it can be a problem we have no control over. We have the fastest DSL not dial-up. As for the TV, we have many channels and Pac 12 on Dish satellite which has a learning curve if you've never used it and our managers are happy to help. We have some windows that are not working properly and new Pella windows have been on order and will be installed in September.
Thanks again for your time
