About Dawn and George Darling, owners, and Traci and Laith Hensley, on-site managers
Both from New England, the owners George and Dawn Darling wanted a cool, summer mountain getaway for skiing, hunting, sledding and snowmobiling in the winter, and for hiking, biking, fishing, 4-wheeling and ATVing the rest of the year. The property was developed in the 80's and many improvements have been made including the adjacent 5-bedroom Ridge House built in 2009. The on-site managers, Traci and Laith Hensley, have been managing the property for about 3 years and the guests love them!
Why Dawn and George Darling, owners, and Traci and Laith Hensley, on-site managers chose Greer
Greer is a place where you can get away from it all - the traffic, fast-food restaurants, and a face-paced city life. it's great to just walk out your door or drive a few minutes to our favorite spots. Greer is a small mountain village where you can have the conveniences of home without the stress. It's quiet but not too remote. You can walk to the oldest lodge in Arizona for dinner and a drink at the bar, or across the street to fish for native trout in the Little Colorado River.
What makes this Cabin unique
Antler Ridge is located in the center of town within walking distance to just about anywhere in this unique Arizona village with a year-round population of only 125 and less than 700 lots developed with beautiful vacation homes. It's the closest town to Sunrise Ski Park, Arizona's largest ski area, without the heavy traffic from Pinetop. You're on the slopes in 20 minutes and snowmobiling or cross-country skiing on developed trails just 10 minutes away. Kayaking or canoeing on the 3 Greer Lakes is only 2 miles away and there are many beautiful hiking trails in the forest minutes from your door that extend throughout the National Forest. Greer is also located in Arizona's Area 1 with some of the best elk hunting in the country.

Great location, inside ittle rough
We loved the location close to town and the porch. The inside could use some improvements. The cabinets had years of grime, some screens missing and some windows had broken latches. I could see some updates done, a work in progress.
Upgrades and renovations are ongoing including screen replacements, furnishings, linens, windows, decks, paint etc. as needed. The summer are high season And at times it’s hard to get maintenance done. We really appreciate your feedback. The cabinets were just refinished a few months before your stay, along with new countertops and tile backsplash. We hope you’ll give us another try and direct you to another cabin.
Antler ridge cabin 1
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Greer and loved the cooler weather. The cabin was clean and comfortable and we loved sitting on the porch watching the rain!
Great to hear it was cool and comfortable. It's so great experience rain there in the mountains. Hope to see you back soon!
Inaccurate website representation.
Website indicates “Internet” as an amenity. The signal is so weak even my brand new device would not connect. There is even a notice on the refrigerator that disclaims WiFi. After prepayment and check in, the notice to disclaim is very untimely.
My booking request was based on Vrbo search in Greer,Az. It shows property #839072, 73, and 74. These are located across from the community center (wedding reception venue). These properties are where the families were booked as well. My confirmation shows cabin #1 at Antler Ridge. I was checked in at property #831566 (not even a Vrbo offered property) at The Aspen Cabins not at Greer Village at Antler Ridge, not .1 mile from Greer Center as requested.
I prepaid an additional fee for cleaning the. Upon check in I found another note on the refrigerator indicating I was expected to wash, dry, and put away dishes used as well as to carry out my garbage or incur additional charges. Problem #1 no dishwasher. Problem #2 no dish drainer. Problem #3 previous occupant is not required to sanitize before restoring in cabinet. Problem #4 cleaning service will only check to see that dishes are stored not sanitized. Problem #5 unclean dishes for next occupant, which was me. There was a greasy film on the first plate I tried to utilize. I chose to lay a paper plate over it for my dinner and leave the dirty dish on the counter. As an “add on” fee for cleaning, I would not be willing to accept any of these “last minute” policies. Cleaning fees should not be subject to any regular expected maid services, just like hotel stays.
I booked with Vrbo in good faith. So much so I paid a pet fee for my Serivice Dog, as not to be in any way be deceptive. I’m not so sure Vrbo operates likewise.
As you can see by my star rating, I am very happy with the local management. However I would be reluctant to book through Vrbo.
It's unfortunately that you were not able to stay in the cabin you booked at our property because there was scheduling glitch and your cabin was double booked. Thankfully our manager caught it after the first guests checked in and found an available cabin at a property just a few minutes away that she viewed prior to personally taking you there for your approval. Even though you didn't stay in one of our cabins, I'd like to address a few inaccuracies: a dishwasher was not an amenity at in the cabin you booked at Antler Ridge either, guests wash dishes with dish soap only which is approved by the health board and occasionally housekeepers can miss a dirty dish, and the cleaning fee was part of your quote for our property and not a last minute policy or add on. A cleaning fee is typical for a cabin which requires significantly more cleaning time than a hotel room. A pet fee is also quoted on our VRBO listing and standard for a pet of any kind and all cabin rentals in Greer to my knowledge since extra cleaning is involved when a pet has stayed. The manager of the property you stayed at would have been happy to address your issues if they knew about the issue. Please don't let this unusual situation keep you from coming back to Greer or renting through VRBO. It looked as though it was a great wedding where everyone had fun. We're sorry being moved to another property was disappointing and would be happy to try to remedy the situation.
Thanks so much for staying with us at Antler Ridge. We're glad you had a great visit and hope to see you again soon!
Our family of5 has a great time. The cabin was great, small and functional. Perfect for a long weekend. The kitchen had all the basics for making meals, although I kept search for scissors, lol. They are a staple in my kitchen!
We had a great time, and would definitely stay here again.
Thanks so much for your feedback...we bought new scissors for the cabins. Sometimes they break and the housekeepers don't catch that an item like this is missing. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention and hope to see you again.
Cute but ill equipped
The cabin was small and quaint, but very ill equipped. I tried to make scrambled eggs and there wasn't even a spatula! No extra blankets which made for a cold night watching movies on the couch during the winter nights and we ran out of wood the first night! After I requested more wood from the office they delivered it so we were able to cozy up to the fire the second night. The views were beautiful and the location is perfect for waking through Greer.
We really appreciate your feedback which I've reviewed with our managers. Sometimes the housekeepers don't catch something missing and I apologize. Unfortunately, people often just throw away something damaged or broken and don't let us know. Regardless, we have lots of backup utensils, etc. and could have provided you with everything you needed from the on-site office. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience.
Greer is a mountain village with hiking trails and lakes a short walk or drive from the cabin. There is a local market, a few restaurants and gift shops in Greer. A ski resort with year-round activities, large grocery and drug stores, movie theaters, golf facilities, hospitals and several lakes in the National Forest and on the Apache Indian Reservation are a short drive away. Greer is in Area #1, one of the best Elk hunting areas in the Arizona White Mountains. This cabin is located within Antler Ridge Cabins, an 8-cabin rental resort. There is an on-site management office for check-in and check-out, supplies, movies, games and assistance with the cabin.
