Supreamly comfortable,stylish 1 & 2 bedroom apartments - Centrally located

The Albert is the latest of our beautifully restored apartments to be made available at Clarence House.

Covering the whole of the top floor, this light filled and airy apartment has the added advantage of vertical and horizontal light, with a glass star gazing ceiling in the very large family bathroom.

The newly created,separate kitchen diner overlooks the wall garden and lovely views of St Boniface Down from the lounge. Both the master bedroom with it's antique french king size bed and the twin bedroom also with antique french beds are spacious with plenty of space and storage.

The lounge has plenty of relaxing sofas and chairs, plus there is a separate reading nook with a chaise-long for an escape from the tv.

A beautiful apartment with all the creature comforts of home.

The Isle of Wight was never a place I thought we would call home until a surprise birthday trip organised by Robert for my birthday.

We fell in love with the beauty of Ventnor and by chance spotted Clarence House in the window of a local estate agent.........

And so here we are.

With our Elegant, Victorian Manor House in the heart of Ventnor with 4 holiday apartments and gorgeous views over Ventnor Park.

We hope by sharing this stunning house and it's location you too will fall in love with Ventnor re-styled and re-discovered.

Why Gillian Mechan chose Ventnor

We fell in love with Ventnor and the friendliness of "The Islanders".

It truly has a different feel from the mainland and yet is only 1/2 an hour away by Catamaran or Ferry.

A drive through the country lanes brings lots of Ohhhs and Ahhhs at the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the quaint thatched villages.

A superb destination for walkers, cyclists or the hearty tri-athletes. There is much to be seen on the Coastal Path with striking chalk geology featuring heavily here in the south. There are great views out to sea and many interesting places to visit, reflecting the island's heritage and royal patronage over the years. Isle of Wight boasts many wonderful cycling and riding routes around the island's dramatic coast line with varying degrees of difficulty.

Beautiful apartment but lots of steps

This is a really lovely apartment, decorated in a quirky but luxurious style in keeping with the age of the property. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Ventnor and the seafront. The only downside is that it is not really suitable for anyone who finds stairs difficult, as there are two sets in the garden before you reach the house entrance, another set to get to the apartment front door and then a half set of stairs between the kitchen, by the front door, and the rest of the living space.

Wonderful New Year break in a beautiful apartment

We booked a short break over the New Year, very last minute. Gillian was very helpful with a quick response to our request to book and then to any questions we had before and during our stay. We stayed in the Albert apartment which is at the top of the Victorian Manor house. It is beautifully decorated, fantastic attention to detail and had everything we needed during our stay. It was clean, tidy, with plenty of space, a comfortable bed and truly lovely bathroom (the ceiling window is an amazing touch!).

The location is great, parking available on the road out the front and a short 5 minute walk down to Ventnor Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property - and will be looking to see when we can come back again as we didn't want to leave! Thank you Robert and Gillian!

100% Relaxing

We needed to get away to chill, read, and walk with little use of the car. Clarence House is a wonferful Victorian House in an envious position just opposite a park, the cliff tops and walking distance to everything you need. Albert apartment has the whole top floor and just so spacious and relaxing. We read so many books and shared views on them with Gillian the owner who lent us more titles. It was simply a great stay that achieved every objective including giving us bathroom and decorating ideas. We have already booked next year.

Beautiful and comfortable

Every room on our apartment was beautifully decorated, but practical with plenty of storage space. Most importantly of all it was really comfortable. We loved our stay!

Special interest holidays:

Of special interest is the vast array of cycling, walking and swimming spots on the Island.With advice and information available from Robert who is a keen cyclist and open water swimmer.


More than half the Isle of Wight has been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty, and there are 65 miles of coastline to explore. Along the more beautiful south coast there's a beach to suit everyone. A 5 min stroll down the winding path and through the cascading gardens, you are on the golden beachfront of Ventnor, which has something of a riviera feel. The tide is strong here, but the beach itself is clean, mainly sandy, easily accessible, and has rockpools to poke around in at either end.


There are several ways to get onto the Island. From Lymington,Southampton and Portsmouth both Red Funnel and WightLink provide a very good ferry service.

Distance from Ryde or Fishbourne to Ventnor is apprx 12 miles of lovely countryside driving. ( or cycling for the more adventurous )


We are in the heart of Ventnor so all amenities are accessible by walking.
