A beautiful home, in a quiet rural setting overlooking the ocean
Why Pat O'Donoghue chose Doolin
We bought the old cottage in 2005 and proceeded to convert it into what it is today. The reason why we did this was because my father in law came for County Clare and my wife spent all her holidays in this very special and spiritual area.
What makes this Cottage unique
The property was an old derelict cottage located on a quiet cul-de-sac with spectacular views all round. Named Sea Mist, it is situated on the southern side of the famous Cliffs of Moher, and 2 km from the village of Doolin known worldwide as the cradle of traditional Irish music. The Burren, one of the largest exposed limestone areas in Europe, is within easy reach of the house and is a haven for walkers and anyone interested in nature. We fell in love with the cottage and it's beautiful location, as soon as we came across it. We continue to enjoy it with our friends and family, as indeed, we know you will.

Seamist - Perfect for our Family Vacation
My husband and I visited Ireland back in 2016, and wanted to come back to Doolin with our children. We were so happy with Seamist.l! Our kids loved seeing the cows right out the front door, with the ocean just beyond. They loved playing in the yard, which was absolutely breathtaking. We took nightly sunset pictures after we explored Doolin and the Wild Atlantic Way. Communication with Pat was great! The house is very well stocked and just very cozy and welcoming. We hope to return someday in the near future!
Many thanks for your positive review of your stay at Sea Mist. Hope you will come back someday
A family retreat
Absolutely stunning location and property. We had ages from 5 - 82 years, and all loved it. From the gardens and fields for kids to roam, to the downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms for older people, this house covered everything. And of course the views are incredible. The house is a short drive to Doolin via a country lane, and within easy access of a huge diversity of superb natural, historical and cultural attractions.
What a wonderful review! Many thanks for taking the time to write it. So pleased you had a great time.
The house was absolutely beautiful. We loved every minute of staying there.
From start to finish renting this property was great. Pat the owner got back to us right away with any questions. The house was so comfortable. We hope to stay there again soon.
Thank you so much for your positive review of your stay at Sea Mist we would love to see you back someday.
Amazing in Doolin
Incredible views walking distance from Doolin (uphill!). Stayed for a wedding, absolutely stunning property inside and out. If you're staying in Doolin, stay here!
Stunning property in an incredible setting
We spent 4 nights at Sea Mist and it was the perfect home base to explore the Cliffs, the Burren and the beautiful village of Doolin. The views are stunning and the house was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We did some grocery shopping in Lisdoovarna and started each morning with a home cooked breakfast and also had one fantastic dinner in.
We enjoyed the house immensely and would recommend it highly to anyone staying in the area.
Thank you so much for your positive review of your stay at Sea Mist. It's great that you enjoyed yourselves and would recommend it as well.
Sea Mist House in Doolin
This house in Doolin was even better than anticipated. It was our home away from home on top of the world in Doolin. The owner Pat answered my messages immediately with advice when needed. The house has an electric fence out front to keep the cows away from the garden. One issue was that we had no advance notice on this and mentioned that this should be noted in the house booklet...info would be helpful for non farm folks..ha! We loved every minute at this Sea Mist House. A well stocked kitchen as well. We stayed in for meals and cooked a lot. Can't wait to come back to the Sea Mist house with family and friends. Highly recommend this house if you can afford it... well priced for what you get. My family in Ireland also loved the house and may also rent it for family getaways in the near future. We will be back. Thank you Pat. Also, the surprise welcome package was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.
What a fantastic review, really appreciated ! Yes, we have to warn 'non farming' folk about the electric fence.
You would be welcomed back should you ever decide to stay in Sea Mist again.
Visit the Cliffs of Moher Ireland's tallest cliffs and 2nd most popular tourist attraction is a short 10 minute drive from the house. Also a must see is the Burren the largest limestone area in Europe where Mediterranean and Alpine flowers bloom together. It's karst landscape of glacial-era limestone, with cliffs and caves, fossils rock formations and archaeological sites are worth seeing.
The quaint village of Doolin is very close by where you can enjoy good food and it a renowned centre for traditional Irish music in pubs such as O'Connors, Maganns, and McDermotts.
There are two excellent upmarket restaurants in Doolin that we would recommend and they are Cullinans and The Roadfort House.
At Doolin harbour you can take a ferry to the Aran Islands or see the Cliffs of Moher from the sea.
There is a walk along the cliffs which is 14 klm long but you can take it in stages if you prefer but it is a wonderful experience. You can also go on an accompanied walk with Pat Sweeney who will fill you in on all aspects during the walk.
