Le Petit Verger nestles in a tranquil corner of the Loire Valley 9km from the beautiful town of LOCHES. It accommodates 3 adults and a child up to three years old, in absolute comfort and privacy. A perfect hideaway for a couple or a family. It dates back to 1785, 4 years before the French Revolution, and displays many traditional features such as oak beams, tiled floors and external walls constructed from regional limestone rendered in the local style inside. It surrounded by a productive orchard and open countryside. Its southerly aspect offers guests unlimited views of the surrounding panorama and uninterrupted sunlight throughout the day. Le Petit Verger is, all in all, a perfect location from which to explore central France.
LIVING ROOM/sitting area: Living room.
Downstairs there is a large combined living room/dining room/kitchen area. The entire floor in this area is tiled with the original tiles which still retain their beautiful old terracotta colour despite being 240 years old. The kitchen section of the room has a fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a hob and oven as well as a dishwasher. This charming room has three windows with garden views.
The sitting area has an wood burning stove in the original fire place. There is also electric heating for the colder winter days. Two comfortable arm chairs and a settee make the place inviting and relaxing. There is a TV/DVD player and Hi-Fi system. WiFi is available too. Plenty of books to relax reading as well as games for all. TV , English and French channels, keep the visitors happy during the rainy days.
A dining table with four chairs sits in front of an old French dresser which houses all the cutlery, crockery and necessary utensils. BBQ utensils, table mats and a tablecloth are provided too.
Other essentials such as washing up liquid, soap, kitchen towels and table-cloths are provided as well.
Oak kitchen units, hand made by the local Menusiere, complement this part of the downstairs open plan room. A comfortable area where one can prepare food while sharing time with their loved ones. All necessary electrical appliances such as an electric hob, an electric oven, microwave oven and a dishwasher are in place to make the visitors time as confortable as possible.
There are plenty of saucepans, oven trays and kitchen utensils.
All crockery is kept in the large oak dresser by the dining area of the room. The dining table with its four chairs make eating times comfortable and enjoyable.
On the first floor there is a single bed, three arm chairs a small table and a bookcase. There is plenty of space that is used as a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. It is also the area in the cottage that one can sit and read, work or just have some time to oneself. A cozy little corner to practise yoga or to meditate. There are two windows overlooking the two gardens that surround the cottage.
The main bedroom is through this room. A king size bed with very comfortable mattress, two bedside tables, bed side lights and two arm chairs make this room again very comfortable and welcoming. There is large fitted double wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Two mirrors and book cases complete this lovely bedroom with its old ceiling beams.
There two windows towards the south of the property overlooking the fields with the vines and walnut trees. One window overlooking the garden and the fields across on the west side of the room. A very warm and relaxing place to sleep and rest with your morning coffee.
Local area: The local restaurant, La Rénaissance, in Saint Hippolyte opens daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is famous for its foie gras. Booking a table at the weekend is essential. The boulangerie in the centre of the village has everything one needs, from fresh bread and croissants to vegetables and wine.
Nearby, excellent walking routes, equestrian schools, a golf course and fishing lakes provide scope for a range of activities. 9 km up-river is the medieval town of Loches, which hosts a bustling market around Le Café des Arts twice each week and hosts a literary festival in the summer. Major châteaux and vineyards can be found within a 40 km radius.
