About Bridgett Gill
Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our sixties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and a registered charity. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!
Bridgett Gill purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Bridgett Gill chose Belváros - Lipótváros
Why we chose this location: Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves! We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment was a former stables and we have preserved the vaulted brick ceiling which is a unique feature. Being on the ground floor the apartment could have been cold in the winter, so we have added underfloor hearing and have put 3 inch insulation on the walls, making it really cosy when it is chilly outside.

Great spot in the parliament district
This property is ideal for most stays. The only limitations are heating but not cooling, and Laundry is a 8 min walk away k
My husband and I enjoyed Budapest so much due to the location of the apartment! So close to everything we wanted to see.
Central but quiet
Only one block from the Danube and a short walk to the Cathedral, the apartment was ideal for a stay in Budapest.
We enjoyed the place!
The accommodations were just right for a couple like us but did not immediately recognize that the location was superb! Attila drove us from the airport and told us of the local activities and conveniences. The restaurant he recommended two blocks down Nador Utce had authentic Hungarian and other selections. They and everyone else we met spoke English and made our vacation special. The kindness and joyful spirit is alive in Budapest, and we were very glad for our selection of these accommodations.
Gorgeous apartment near St. Stephen's Basilica
The apartment is amazing! Absolutely gorgeous. Clean, quiet, great location. The apartment is located within walking distance to tourist areas, quality restaurants and cafes. I would definitely recommend.
Bridgett’s home was wonderful. Great location, great condo. 5 star review. Attila the driver was a added bonus. He met us at the airport, drove to the apartment, checked us in and when we departed, he drove us directly to the airport. Wonderful stay. Highly recommended.
The apartment is in the perfect location, near the Basilica in the prestigious District 5. All the top tourist attractions are within an easy 10 min walking distance, including the Opera House, Parliament, National Art Museum, Castle District and the funicular railway, the Famous Chain Bridge and the Vaci Utca shopping street. It is also close to a supermarket and a covered market where you can by excellent fresh produce. It is also, very importantly, only 2 mins walk from some very good bars and restaurants; the Hungarians have some really excellent wine and food! The nearest metro station is 5 mins walk away, and bus and tram stops are 2 mins away. The apartment is also close to the street which houses all the prime antique shops specialising in Biedermeier and Art Deco furniture. Budapest is regaining its former glory, there is street after street of fabulous architecture, many buildings are fully renovated and many still have their rather shabby-chique charm.
