Fabulous apartment with views over the roofs of old Nice to the sea. 100m from the markets of Cour Saleya and the beach with its abundance of cafés and restaurants this is a location that is hard to beat.
The apartment was selected by us, to include as one of our rental properties, for its location. Rue du Malonat is a quiet pedestrien side street, right in the heart of old Nice. You step out of the door, 20 meters to the end of the street, and you literally have hundreds of cafés, restaurants, and shops, not to mention the famous market stalls of Cour Saleya just around the corner. Another few steps from there and you are on the Quai des Etas Unis and the beach.
When you have had enough sun, and enough food, there are a multitude of other things to see and do, from scuba diving and sailing, through cycling and rollerblading, to a multitude of museums and maybe an evening at the Opera.
With all this on your doorstep, you are sure to enjoy your stay.
How to double the size of the apartment.: This apartment is on next door to another apartment we operate called Saleya. The two apartments can be rented separately or together to create accommodation for up to ten people. There is a doorway off the staircase that gives onto a hallway, from that hallway each apartment has it's own front door. If the apartments are rented separately, then the hallway remains 'public', and if they are rented together then the hallway remains 'private'.
Getting around: Busses- The TAM busses are operated by the Conseil General des Alpes Maritimes and now charge a flat 1.50 per person, per trip. ie Every time you get on the bus, you pay 1.50€ regardless of how far you are going. The busses are clean, usually on time, and air conditioned.
Trains- The TER trains are the ones that serve the coastal towns, they are regular and clean. A ticket Nice to Monaco return will set you back 5 euro, but if you fancy spending the day exploring several towns then you are best to go for the Carte Isabelle which allows you on and off the train from Fréjus to Vintimiglia as many times as you like in one day, and costs 12 euro, unfortunately it is only available in the summer month July to September.
If train journeys is what you enjoy then you might want to consider the Chemin de Fer de Provence which offers a very scenic train through the lower Alpes from Nice to Dignes, clinging to the hill sides as it meanders its way across valleys and on up into the hills.
Tram- The tram is popular, and is therefore usually crowded, Tickets can be bought at the stops, from the booths on the platforms
Pricing is as follows;
1 trip ticket =1.50 euro
10 trip ticket = 10 euro
1 day pass = 4 euro
7 day pass = 15 euro
Cyclotour- You will see, dotted around Nice, strange tricycles with a covered back seat. If you are worn out from to much walking and/or shopping, use them. They are usually driven by students who will take you wherever you want for 1.50/km, even on a tour of Nice.
Parking- For those of you who come by car, parking Saleya (under cours Saleya) do passes for the duration of your stay . As a guide they charge 49€ for a three day pass and 9€ a day thereafter, which allows you in and out as often as you like. It is worth remembering that if it is your birthday they will offer you your birthday parking for free, and they have bicycles that they will lend free to car park users. You can get information on all this on site in the car park.

We came for one week for my 21st, Rosemary kindly came to meet us and took us to the apartment. The streets and buildings are so beautiful and you're in a prime location.
We stayed in the apartment Saleya in about a week. This is the 4th floor . The apartment was made of one old construction . You may know the stories in the walls. The front door must have been made for many centuries and the largest I've seen. The stairs up to the apartment is worn but fascinating and go in . We were 4 people and enjoyed every day. It was close to everything you need. In addition, the apartment is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher and other equipment. Good beds and a cozy living room . Good view over the roofs of Nice. Where you get a delicious sea breeze through the window .
Regarding landlord Rosemary as she was of great assistance . We arrived late into Nice by train yet she stood waiting for us . We forgot again belongings and she took care of it and handed it back to us. Thanks for a great stayed Rosemary .
We had a fantastic few days staying in this beautiful apartment. Its location, on a lovely street right in the centre of Nice's old town, minutes from the market, minutes from the beach, beautiful park etc., was perfect for us. The building itself is also great. Rosemary was very friendly and helpful - she met us personally and showed us to the apartment, and gave us some great recommendations for restaurants, things to do etc., as well as a fantastic bakery! The apartment is spotless, cosy and had everything we needed (as well as a brilliant view of the sea over the rooftops of the old town!). We'd definitely recommend the apartment and are hoping to visit Nice many more times in the future! Thank you for a wonderful introduction to the city!
The flat is clean, good layout with 4 good beds. The dishwasher and washing machine are a bonus. Not really equipt for cooking as it only has one tiny pan and a frying pan. It was not a problem to us as the choice of places to eat are endless just around the corner. We were met by Rosemary as agreed, with a mobile text message from her on arrival at the airport.
One disadvantage is access. 3 flights off stairs of irregular hight of steps, however the location is a bonus. Just a few minute stroll to the beach, shops, places of interest and pubs and restaurants. The old town of Nice is stunning!
We booked for 5 nights SALEYA apartment. The location is great: the apartment is in the old town, the beach is 5-8min walk, the apartment is tidy BUT the biggest disadvantage for the apartment is that it does not have air-condition! It has only two small fans and one fan attached to the ceilings in one of the bedroom which is no enough when outside is plus 32 degrees. Please note that the apartment is on 4th floor. 4th floor is not the standard 4th floor its much higher because its an old town building which of course it would be Ok to climb if the room would have an air con. We will come back to Nice but we would rent a different apartment with aircon and on the ground or first floor only.
We were delighted to find that this flat was located to enjoy all the facilities of Old Nice (including Nice's best bakery in Rue Droite for morning croissants!). It gave us a genuine feel for the history of Nice and is positioned 5 mins from Cours Saleya (nightlife, markets) yet avoids the crowds and night time noise. The flat was impeccably clean and Rosemary's local knowledge saved us hours of trying to figure out the local bus system (apparently the Mairie only updates its website once a year!). We really enjoyed ourselves and have booked to return in September!
Location, location, location. Three words that best describe this apartments position. Just a few minute to the beach, main shopping district and to the bus station. You are in the heart of old Nice on a street that is quiet at night and day but with a hive of activity just around the corner. Close to Cours Saleya - the location of the daily flower market. Public transport is reliable and cheap (1.50€ anywhere on the buses) and offers easy access other places to explore from Cannes to Monte Carlo.
The apartment is located in the heart of Vieux Ville - Nice. Close (1min walk) to the Promenade des Anglais - Nice's famous seafront esplanade. It's 6km long and is a fantastic place for a stroll or hire a bicycle or set of Rollerblades. Nearby there are art galleries and museums (Musee Matisse, Musee des Beaux Arts, Musee d'Art Moderne) .
Why not indulge in breakfast on the beach, lunch with a seafood plater at 'Le Safari', and finish the day dancing to the small hours at 'La Bodeguita'
