A well appointed smart house with patios and pool, a few minutes walk from a nice village

  • 5 of 5

It's a smart modern house, well designed and appointed. There are several patios and terraces, and a good pool shared with a couple of other houses. The views are lovely. It's a few minutes walk to Gaiole, which has all the shops and wine tasting opportunities you could need.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the property for nine nights. Overall it was a very good experience. The unit has a kitchen, living area, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It is fully air-conditioned, with outside parking and a garage. The unit is part of a 40-unit community (borgo) constructed about eight years ago, and located immediately adjacent to the village of Gaiole. Residence includes use of a large pool located in an open area behind the unit and shared by 5 other units. Upon arrival we were met by a local caretaker and given two key sets. The place was clean and well maintained.

Pluses: All bedrooms have a shower. Parking availability is good. Modern, fully furnished residence. Proximity to a quaint village with a bakery, butcher shop, several restaurants, wine shops, a pub with craft beer, a bank with ATM, a fruit shop, a grocery shop, a coffee shop, and a bike shop. Washer/dryer, iron, in basement. Location is accessible by car to many Tuscan hill towns, wineries, and a designer outlet mall. Very comfortable for the five people in our group. The pool was a great plus after a day of sightseeing.

Minuses: Top floor bedroom and bathroom are tiny..but has exclusive use of a large attached terrace. Caretaker contact lives across the street but doesn't speak English. There were no written instructions such as how to operate the a/c, what to do with the garbage, or resources in the village.

Owner's Response: Dear family, thank you on behalf of the owners of the villa for your well thought and extensive review, and we are glad that you had a great experience while staying in Gaiole. We understand the difficulty with Vanna for complex talks in English, her knowledge is indeed basic, but she more than makes up in courtesy and quick reply to all queries. Thanks to your input we have prepared a small book in English with the main instructions like air conditioning, garbage disposal, and so on. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests, and look forward to seeing you again. Best regards, Franco.

Life doesn't get much more perfect

  • 5 of 5

A small Italian village with a pedestrianised main street nestled in a mountain valley. Three congenial cafes. Some wonderful restaurants. A small supermarket. A sprinkling of wine specialists and delis selling local produce - everything from olive oil to must-eat porchetta. The whiff of wood smoke in the autumnal air. And a short stroll away, a spacious villa complete with swimming pool. If heaven exists, I want it to be like this.

Tuscany Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We spent one week in this Villa and really enjoyed it. The place is large with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. The place was very clean when we arrived. The village is charming and we enjoyed morning coffee as well as evening wine in the village. We would only suggest the owner provide a guest book with instructions on using the WiFi as well as appliances in the Villa i.e washer, dryer, stove, etc. Also the pots and pans really need to be replaced. Would definitely recommend this place.

This house is the best value in Tuscany, if not the whole of Italy. Four friends and I spent a week there in the beginning of April and we had a blast. It can easily sleep 8 people. The bedroom on the top floor is a bit small and the queen size bed fills it but it has a huge terrace off it and it's own bathroom. The 2 other bedrooms are on the second floor (first floor in Europe) and they have 2 single beds each. Both these rooms are very large with huge windows to let the sun in. There is also a large bathroom on that floor. The main floor has an eat in kitchen and a large living room with a comfortable queen size sofa bed. There is a 3rd complete bathroom on that floor.

The house is very conveniently located, an easy driving distance to all the famous Chianti villages as well as Siena, San Gimiagno (sp??) and Voltera. It's located in the village and not in the middle of nowhere like most villas in Tuscany so you can walk to the shops and restaurants without having to depend on a car to go everywhere. There are many restaurants from cheap pizzerias to gastronomical eateries.

Even though we loved the house, there are a couple of areas that need improving: the house needs more wine glasses. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen but we always ran out of wine glasses. The kitchen could also do with new pots and pans. The ones there were old with the non-stick coating peeling. One last thing: we were there in April and the nights were cold. The house has heating but it took us a while to figure out. It might help to have a manual or somebody able to provide explanations (in English).

In spite of these few glitches, we really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, quiet and well maintained. We would not hesitate to recommend this house to any of our friends.

Owner's Response: Dear Claude, thank you so much for your valuable feed-back, and most of all we are delighted that you and your friends had a great time! We really appreciate your positive evaluation of our property, and more so the tips about improving guest's experience. We will definitely replace the pans and pots, and also add some extra wine glasses, after all the Chianti wine deserves to be refilled! With regards to the heating, we will instruct the caretaker to properly instruct or rather already set the temperature accordingly to guests needs. We have tried before with instructions, but as the system is very complex, the results weren't encouraging. Well, it was a definite pleasure to have you over at our villa, and look forward to see you again. All the very best wishes. Colin and Claire

Sehr freundliche Betreuung, lediglich die Küchen Ausstattung könnte mal erneuert werden. Töpfe und Pfannen sind schon stark strapaziert.

Waren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder!
