Stirling is situated at the centre of Scotland and it has direct travel links to many of the major cities in Scotland – including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. There are many attractions in the local area, including, an historic castle which was believed to be the “key to Scotland” in medieval days, many nature walks and hill walking opportunities, numerous fine dining and entertainment establishments and the World’s only boat wheel – the Falkirk Wheel.
There are also many attractions for children all over the local area as well as shops, bakeries and sports opportunities galore as well as a fantastic safari park. There is also a microbrewery, golf course and fishing area should the adults wish to relax too!
The home is absolutely beautiful and so comfortable! We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and all the little touches (fresh flowers, they setup a travel cot for our son, tea and biscuits on a tray, etc) made us feel so welcomed. The location really is ideal. Only a 40 minute drive into Edinburgh, was a great starting point for a drive to the Highlands, and a hop away from all the great sights in Stirling itself. Truly lovely home, we wished we had spent more time there and would absolutely stay again!
One bit of advice to management/owners- the welcome binder references manuals for all appliances being in a drawer in the kitchen. The manuals for the washer and dryer were not there and our tumble dryers in the US are a bit different (we don't have to empty the water tank). Luckily we were able to find a copy of the manual online when the clean bin light came on.
Beautiful modern accommodation sleeps 6. Very clean & comfortable & very well equipped. Ample supply of bed linen, towels, household items, etc. Home from home accommodation. Couldn't ask for more.
Our family loved our stay at Milton Hayloft. The accommodation was modern and spotlessly clean, it had everything you need for a break away from home. The welcome pack included tea, coffee sugar and milk not to mention a packet of shortbread too so after a long journey it was nice to sit and relax without rushing out to find the first shop! The neighbours must be the friendliest and most helpful ever! The accommodation was ideally situated for all the places we wanted to visit, from Loch Lomond to Edinburgh and the Fringe, the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies, it is just so central and made an ideal base. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Milton Hayloft to friends and family.
This is a lovely property situated on the edge of Stirling but getting into town and the historical sites is easy The "hop on hop off " bus is nearby .It is very well appointed and has excellent parking . There is a small shop belonging to Morrisons in the local garage so it is possible to get essentials for breakfast etc making life easy .
We had a wonderful 3-night stay in Milton Hays. The property was as advertised. It was very comfortable for a family of 6 adults. Kirsteen and her team were very prompt in replying to emails. Our security deposit was refunded immediately after we left. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Milton Hayloft for 10 days in July. There were 4 adults and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We were impressed with the amount of space and all the amenities the house had. Initially we liked that this property had two kind sized beds. This was important as my brother in law is 6 foot 6 and we knew a smaller bed wouldn't be comfortable for him.
We were visiting family in Sterling, and on one occasion the family came round to our place. We had 17 people for supper and it was cozy, but we had enough room for everyone (one relative did bring a few folding chairs). I was able to cook for everyone. The kitchen was great, there were enough pots, pans and serving bowls to accommodate all the cooking and serving. One of the neighbors even came to our rescue when the smoke detector went off while I was searing some meat. He was friendly and helpful.
The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was clean and of high quality. Having a washing machine and dryer in the house was very convenient. We brought adapters, but unfortunately our hair dryers did not fit into the plugs. Luckily, two hair dryers were supplied in the bathrooms so us ladies were very happy about that!
The back garden area with table and chairs was lovely...we wish the weather had been better so we could have taken advantage. We also rented a car so a back parking area was a nice bonus.
We would recommend Milton Hayloft to anyone and should we return to Scotland, we will not hesitate to book this property again in the future.
Milton was a charming hamlet for many centuries and was built around the numerous mills set along the Bannock Burn Valley . Modern Milton still retains many of the original mill workers cottages and farm buildings, although modern housing has been added and renovation of the original buildings has enhanced the area. Milton Hayloft is a sympathetic modern property very much in keeping with the surrounding buildings. The historical Bannockburn Heritage Centre is only a 2 minute walk from the property and there are pubs and restaurants in the area. The Wallace Monument is a 2 min drive; on the way, stop off and visit the Old Stirling Bridge.
The surrounding countryside is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts: walking, cycling and paragliding are all on offer on the nearby Ochil Hills. Slightly further away are The Trossachs, Callander, Loch Lomond National Park, Glasgow and Edinburgh providing, therefore, the ideal central touring base for your holiday.
