Stirling is situated at the centre of Scotland and it has direct travel links to many of the major cities in Scotland – including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. There are many attractions in the local area, including, an historic castle which was believed to be the “key to Scotland” in medieval days, many nature walks and hill walking opportunities, numerous fine dining and entertainment establishments and the World’s only boat wheel – the Falkirk Wheel.
There are also many attractions for children all over the local area as well as shops, bakeries and sports opportunities galore as well as a fantastic safari park. There is also a microbrewery, golf course and fishing area should the adults wish to relax too!
We had a wonderful 3-night stay in Milton Hays. The property was as advertised. It was very comfortable for a family of 6 adults. Kirsteen and her team were very prompt in replying to emails. Our security deposit was refunded immediately after we left. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Milton Hayloft for 10 days in July. There were 4 adults and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We were impressed with the amount of space and all the amenities the house had. Initially we liked that this property had two kind sized beds. This was important as my brother in law is 6 foot 6 and we knew a smaller bed wouldn't be comfortable for him.
We were visiting family in Sterling, and on one occasion the family came round to our place. We had 17 people for supper and it was cozy, but we had enough room for everyone (one relative did bring a few folding chairs). I was able to cook for everyone. The kitchen was great, there were enough pots, pans and serving bowls to accommodate all the cooking and serving. One of the neighbors even came to our rescue when the smoke detector went off while I was searing some meat. He was friendly and helpful.
The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was clean and of high quality. Having a washing machine and dryer in the house was very convenient. We brought adapters, but unfortunately our hair dryers did not fit into the plugs. Luckily, two hair dryers were supplied in the bathrooms so us ladies were very happy about that!
The back garden area with table and chairs was lovely...we wish the weather had been better so we could have taken advantage. We also rented a car so a back parking area was a nice bonus.
We would recommend Milton Hayloft to anyone and should we return to Scotland, we will not hesitate to book this property again in the future.
Close to all local attractions and motorways
Accommodations are clean and modern, everything you could possibly need.
Would highly recommend to everyone who wishes to be in the centre of Scotland .
Milton Hayloft was the perfect property for our week vacation in Stirling in May/June 2016. The house is in a residential area, close to motorway links but only 10 minutes into the centre of Stirling. It is well located to explore the attractions of Stirling, Falkirk and the Trossachs, and there are good rail links to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The house is very well furnished and contained everything we needed for our stay. The open plan downstairs is spacious, upstairs are 3 bedrooms and 2 good sized bathrooms, more than adequate for 5 people. There is ample parking in the shared parking area at the side of the property. Kirsteen provided comprehensive directions and local information to help us plan our visit.
We will definitely plan to stay at this property again the next time we visit family in Central Scotland.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Milton. The location was great for day trips around the area and was easy access to major roads and streets. Accomadations we're welcoming and well suited to our needs. Very comfortable for all of us! Thanks. We would definitely stay here again. Do recommend the owner check the dryer venting...was almost impossible to dry clothes in a reasonable amount of time. All else functioned perfectly!!
Enjoyed the location and the roominess of the property. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. May want to check the venting on the clothes dryer. Thanks so much!
Milton was a charming hamlet for many centuries and was built around the numerous mills set along the Bannock Burn Valley . Modern Milton still retains many of the original mill workers cottages and farm buildings, although modern housing has been added and renovation of the original buildings has enhanced the area. Milton Hayloft is a sympathetic modern property very much in keeping with the surrounding buildings. The historical Bannockburn Heritage Centre is only a 2 minute walk from the property and there are pubs and restaurants in the area. The Wallace Monument is a 2 min drive; on the way, stop off and visit the Old Stirling Bridge.
The surrounding countryside is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts: walking, cycling and paragliding are all on offer on the nearby Ochil Hills. Slightly further away are The Trossachs, Callander, Loch Lomond National Park, Glasgow and Edinburgh providing, therefore, the ideal central touring base for your holiday.
