The VILLA is set within a completely PRIVATE GARDEN enjoying genuinely uninterrupted VIEWS south over adjacent olive groves, vineyards and the Luberon, whilst being only an 8 minute walk up a local lane to the centre of the historic village of Saint Saturnin lès Apt with its local shops, restaurants, cafés and weekly market. The villa’s spacious living space extends on two sides onto TERRACES overlooking the garden, the 11x 5m PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL with natural stone surround (open from June to September and in May by special arrangement). Pool heating offered for bookings in June and September at additional cost.

Large modern fully equipped KITCHEN which opens onto a terrace, sheltered from the sun by a canopy of mulberry trees.

The light and airy SALON contains comfortable sofas, occasional chairs and opens onto the large south facing terrace which is perfect for evening dining. Indoor facilities include fast wireless internet ; Internet TV , DVD and CD players, radios and iPlayer dock.

SLEEPS (maximum 6 guests)

Villa: double bedroom, single room and a third single room which also contains a double sofa bed. There are two further rooms in an apartment at garden level, of which one is a double bedroom and the other an additional salon (included in rental, not rented separately). A travel cot is available.

Outdoor space is amply provided with furniture for al fresco dining, and there is a barbecue on the upper terrace.

The LUBERON and Alpes de Haute Provence: The Luberon region of Provence lies between the Alps to the north and the plains of Vaucluse to the south. Brought to life for many in the books of Peter Mayle, the 'Petit Luberon' , to the west is separated from the 'Grand Luberon' to the east by the beautiful Combe de Loumarin, between Bonnieux and Loumarin. The village of Saint Saturnin d'Apt is very close to the picturesque Luberon 'coup de coeur' villages of Menerbes and Lacoste, the spectacular village of Gordes and the 'ochre' village of Roussillon. The attractions of the Alpes de Haute Provence department to the north including Banon, Manosque, Forcalquier, the Gorges de Verdon and the 'sub-alpes' offer a more rugged contrast to the Luberon. Whether your perfect holiday is relaxing by the pool, dining out in amazing restaurants, exploring the excellent wines of the Luberon or Cotes du Rhone regions, walking, hiking, or a host of other activities, villa La Musardiere and Saint Saturnin les Apt will not disappoint.

WIDER PROVENCE: For the more restless holidaymaker, the cities of AVIGNON (Palais des Papes, Pont St, Benezet, great restuarants), and AIX EN PROVENCE (historical city of art and culture) and ORANGE (Roman amphitheatre) are all charming historical gems well worthy of discovery, as are other towns including VAISON LA ROMAINE (Dentelles of Montmirail), SAULT (lavender) and St. REMY de PROVENCE (the Alpilles). More strenuous trips can be planned to visit MARSEILLES, the famous and ever popular Mediterranean coast including ST. TROPEZ , CANNES, ANTIBES and NICE.

La Musardiere is our family home. Anne and I work in London U.K. but spend most of our free time at the Saint Saturnin house, which our family also visit regularly too. We rent out the house for relatively few weeks per year, interspersing rentals with family visits giving the house a genuine 'loved and lived in' feel.

The pool is open and available June - September. Our local agents speak excellent English as well as their native French, and will welcome you on arrival.

Charming and relaxing stay

We loved this place. We spent most of our time out by the pool or on the terrace enjoying the view. The pool is great, very well maintained, nice and deep (about 1.8m) at one end and shallow with steps for kids at the other. The location is great – a short walk to the local village where there is a bakery and a couple of restaurants and a short 10 minute drive to Apt where there is a supermarket. Inside the place was very clean when we arrived. It is tastefully furnished, well equipped and the beds comfortable. Booking, arrival and departure were easy thanks to good communication with the owner and the local manager. This was a great base to enjoy exploring Provence and we would love to stay again if we are back in Provence.

Lovely house with terrific views

My wife and I have family nearby and know the area well, so we were especially happy to find such a nice, comfortable house for us and our two small children. The location is terrific and the views from the terrace lovely. We made great use of the pool and enjoyed the boulangerie and boucherie in St. Saturnin les Apt quite a bit. Couldn't have had a better time.

We had been somewhere very quiet before so the road was a little noisy but we got used to that. Had a few problems with the electrics which were dealt with promptly.

House was lovely and clean and very well equipped. Beds comfortable and neighbours quiet. Village beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Our local agents are brilliant, and we know they will sort out problems which will from time to time occur. Our philosophy is to 'lend' our well equipped French family house to you and we want all guests to feel as if at home there. If problems do arise, they will be resolved. The house is next to a local road. There is local traffic for short periods in the morning and around midday (lunch-rush). It's local/agricultural traffic, and is not invasive at pool/garden level.... if you want absolute 'hill top' tranquility, our villa is not for you. If however you want a secluded villa within walking distance of a useful village, with a great pool and a stunning view, then please consider booking. Anne and Duncan

blissfully relaxing

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the villa fantastically equipped and ideally situated. It was our third visit to the Luberon area and we found this a great base from which to explore.

Our teenagers particularly enjoyed the large pool and the wifi, (!) while we enjoyed the close proximity to some great food shops and restaurants as well as the fact that there were lots of lovely walks almost on the doorstep.

Lovely house with great views

Well equipped and comfortable house with lovely pool and gardens. We had some lovely walks at the Colorada Provençal at Rustrel and found a good walk up in to the hills above St. Saturnin village.

Our second visit to this house and we look forward to returning again.

Well equipped property with lovely views

Well equipped property with lovely pool which had steps down into it so suited both our young grandchildren and less mobile members of the family.

Lovely local walks and the village of St. Saturnin has all the facilities you need without having to drive anywhere.

The Pont du Gard is easy to get to and the river is lovely to swim in as is the lake at Monmoiron and as it is close to Mont Ventoux those wanting a drive to the top for a great view should do it.

We like the village of Goult and Sault is a lovely small town.

The hoopoes that visited the trees in the garden made bird watching exciting.

We would certainly recommend this property.

The medieval village of Saint Saturnin lès Apt nestles in the shelter of a low cliff, with the ruins of a castle high above. The village has a ‘lived in’ feel, and although visited by tourists, its character remains ‘local’ with all necessary amenities. You can stroll through the narrow streets lined by ancient houses, many with plaques noting their history and wander up to the 11th century castle to enjoy a magnificent view of the sunset over the village and the Luberon hills beyond. Saint Saturnin les Apt, situated in the Parc National de Luberon, is very close to the famous villages of Roussillon, Gordes and the 'coup de coeur' villages of the Luberon including Bonnieux, Menerbes and Lacoste. The full range of outdoor summer activities can be accessed locally. The local town of Apt (8 km) has a range of services. Avignon (40 minutes drive) and Aix en Provence (1 hour) are easily accessible.
