Ever dreamed of a real luxury log cabin.....

Bedrooms 1
Space 1,937 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Do you dream of escaping to a remote hideaway, far away from the stresses of everyday life? We are delighted to bring you a beautiful Log Cabin, available now for bookings.

Nestled amoungst the spectacular mountains, magical moorland and ancient lochs, you’ll find yourself immersed in the best rugged beauty and wild landscapes that the Scottish Highlands have to offer. Loch Garry is a place of peaceful contemplation and natural splendor. Just over one hour’s drive from Inverness airport, you will find yourself in a location where you can truly unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Our snug log cabin offers luxury in the most tranquil setting.

This exclusive retreat is a log cabin in the most authentic sense. It has been built with giant Western Red Cedar logs, handcrafted in Canada using traditional methods. It sits amongst several acres of secluded woodland, just 50 metres from the shore of Loch Garry and overlooking a babbling burn (small river). Upstream is a wonderful Sir Thomas Telford bridge, giving access to yet more picturesque woodland and shoreline.

The cabin itself offers sumptuous luxury – sympathetically styled, with no detail forgotten. Comfortable beds, cosy places to snuggle up and relax, plus an invitingly warm Hot Tub outside on the deck will make your stay complete.

There are also 2 canoes and a rowing boat for you to use free of charge during your stay.

We’re sure that you will love every minute of your time with here, and leave relaxed and looking forward to when you can escape again!

About The Owner

Hello! My name is Alison Hougham and I am very happy to welcome you to Caledonian Cabins

I have been owner of Packhouse, Farnham for 13 years now. This ever-changing interior and lifestyle store is set in a 400-year-old Grade II-listed building within the Surrey hills between Guildford and Farnham. It sells a huge variety of vintage, antique and one-off buys from furniture and interior finishing touches to gifts and fashion accessories. You’re bound to spot glimpses of this treasure trove of interior inspiration during your stay.

My working life before Packhouse has been varied and colourful. My entrepreneurial spirit was set from a young age, and as a schoolgirl, I would make small gifts that my mum would take to her office and sell for me. Well, it’s one way to boost your pocket money! After leaving school I went straight to work in a little warehouse, then held down three jobs for many years to earn extra income. I’ve had various careers since, including being an administrator, courier, chauffeur, PC salesperson, window cleaner, antiques dealer and Firefighter, until taking over Packhouse in 2003.

In my spare time I am a very keen sailor, mainly sailing around the Solent, sometimes cross channel and along the Jurassic coast to the West Country. I also compete in Cowes Week, the Round the Island Race and The Royal Dartmouth Regatta. We haven’t won yet, but we’re having great fun taking part!

I have also been flying hot air balloons for 10 years now. This sport has taken me all over the world, flying in some amazing locations including Italy, Dubai, Thailand and the USA. Most recently, I flew across the channel from Dover to Calais as part of a record-breaking flight.

Now that I have a great team to run Packhouse for me, I have time to pursue other projects. In fact, it was small comment one of my team made that inspired me to investigate the prospect of building a log cabin, and here you have it! Hope you love it as much as I do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Paradise is nearer than you think! We loved snatching a glimpse of the Scottish wilderness on the short flight to Inverness. We loved hopping into the hire car when we landed and meandering down the Loch with stunning views complete with a castle. We loved the drive and the fact the cabin was easy to find. We loved all this and then we saw the cabin. Wow.. what can be said? Everything you could want and more. Was there a downside? Yes, having to leave. Thanks for a great time in a very special place.

My partner, daughter and I stayed here last week and we loved every second! The cabin itself is absolutely beautifully set out and furninshed to a very high standard, couldn't fault it at all!

The area is stunning, we utalised the kayaks and went out onto the loch for a few hours and it's well worth doing, the veiws are breathtaking! There are plenty of places to go walking as well.

The beds were very comfortable and everything was very homely and welcoming.

Alison is a fantastic host, happy to answer any questions and we'd definitely return!

Owner's Response: Hello Lee It was a pleasure to host you and your family at the cabin and of course you will always be welcome. It's so gratifying to read that you truly appreciated all the hard work I put in over last 2 years of designing, planning, building, painting, tiling, and woodworking to create this wonderful home from home; your review has made it all worth while. I, of course love it -but it's not all about me! Thank you

We were recently very fortunate to stay in this amazing log cabin on the shore of Loch Garry. The cabin was immaculately presented with every modern convenience that we could have wanted, it was also finished to an incredibly high standard of decor and beautifully furnished, enabling us to completely relax in a totally peaceful setting amongst the stunning countryside of the Scottish Highlands.

The owner, Alison, was available over the telephone to answer one or two initial questions that we had regarding the local area and made us feel incredibly welcome in the cabin, which we later found out was her very own holiday home.

Bravo Alison, we will certainly return to your beautiful cabin!
