Fantastic traditional house with character
An amazing house, packed with character and with plenty of space for our very large family of ten adults. The kitchen is huge and all the bedrooms were large with lots of quirky features. The setting is lovely and very private despite an adjoining house (we never heard our neighbours and they never heard us). We ate outside on the terrace every evening and swimming in the pool with its superb outlook was a big attraction at all times of the day. Listing was accurate and the house was as we would expect such a property to be. Ingrid, the owner was very helpful and there was good customer service from both her and the lady who comes to maintain the pool. There is plenty to do in the area with markets in Le Vigan, swimming in the river all around and walking/trekking galore. Overall we had an excellent time at La Maison Neuve and I would recommend this place to anyone.
A little haven of beauty
La Maison Neuve tucked away on the edge of the Cevenne national park is a gem. In a beautiful location this house offers stunning views and an opportunity to sit back, relax and escape the everyday hustle and bustle. We were a group of eight adults and one child and found the place very accommodating to our needs. Plenty of space, good size bedrooms and plenty of room outside to enjoy the warm evenings whether by the pool or on a gorgeous terrace surrounded by mulberry trees. Our daughter was 19months old so with the stone floors, steep (but beautiful!!) staircase and balcony, one had to be vigilant. The pool does have a security alarm but we didn't put it on because of the wind which can set it off. The house would accommodate older children better than our daughters age. If you are looking for a holiday property, breaming with character then this is your place. You can do lovely walks directly from the property in between enjoying the tranquility that la Maison Neuve has to offer. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Heaven in the Cevennes
I, my partner and my in-laws (8 adults and a toddler) stayed at La Maison Neuve for the first week of June 2014 and absolutely loved it. The house is very rustic and traditional, with lots of beams and has the most glorious views of the countryside, as well as horses and a market garden to add to the rural feel. The house was clean and well-maintained and contained everything we needed and more, including useful maps of the local area, and Ingrid and her family were extremely helpful and welcoming.
The house is within easy walking distance of a bakery which is useful for breakfasts and close driving distance to a very nice local town with supermarkets, pharmacies etc. There are good sightseeking attractions within reasonable driving distance (such as Cirque de Navacelles and the Norman Foster bridge) and lots of walks to do in the local area.
We recommend this property highly and would definitely stay there again (or the smaller property attached) if the opportunity arose. It is perfect for walkers and nature lovers but you could have an equally good time lounging by the pool and gazing at the views, if you are looking for something more relaxing.
My partner and I spent a month in France touring around and our stay at Maison Neuve was our favourite part of the holiday.
