3 bedroom/ 3 bathroom town house sleeping 8 people in the centre of Whitby town.
Navy House was finished in July 2017. As we are a brand new property please do email with your dates, we might be able to assist you with a short break or odd dates arrivals.
Navy House is a newly renovated Victorian town house in the centre of Whitby, just behind the harbour and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway station. We have three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an en suite cloakroom, drawing room, snug and huge kitchen diner. The house is on Cleveland Terrace, just a three minute walk to the harbour and the centre of town. The house benefits from a sunny south facing patio with garden furniture and BBQ and an artificial lawned area to the front, together with a back yard.
The house is built on a hill so you can enter from two levels. It is a typical Victorian Terrace so there are a lot of stairs to bear in mind if there are any mobility issues. There are three flights in the house and are typically Victorian and fairly steep. Whitby is built on hills, so it is characteristic of the town but the road from the harbour to Cleveland Terrace does get steep at a couple of points.
As there are many stairs in the house it may not be suitable for very young children or toddlers, or the elderly or infirm. A point to note, we don’t have any stair gates in place. Please feel free to talk through the house with me.
Entering the house from Cleveland Terrace you will find a large Victorian drawing room with Smart TV, DVD player and a wood burning stove. The drawing room is painted in Farrow & Ball Stiffkey blue paint with a traditional maritime feel with antique furniture and coastal finds and artwork.
There is another reception room on this floor that we call the snug which also has a new wood burning stove TV and DVD player. Having two living rooms is ideal if you are two families, or one for the children and one for the adults.
On the first floor is a newly refurbished bathroom with an over the bath power shower, WC and wash basin.
The stairs will take you downstairs into the huge basement kitchen /diner which again has just been completely renovated to include a 5 burner gas hob, two Bosch single ovens, dishwasher fridge and freezer and a microwave oven. There is a dining table to seat 8 people and a third wood burning stove. There is also a table with bench seating, giving you an alternative table meaning there can be dining seating for 14 - 16 people if required.
Everything in the kitchen is brand new, plenty of glassware, cutlery, porcelain dinner ware etc. There is a kettle, 4 slice toaster, sandwich maker, Dualit hand mixer, slow cooker and brand new Tefal cookware.
The kitchen / diner leads out to a utility room with washing machine and a second larder fridge, and then into the back yard where there is another patio table and chairs where you get the sunshine first thing in the morning. This back yard area is ideal for storing bikes, beach equipment etc and can be used to drop off shopping at the back door. There is an outside tap there for washing off sandy dirty wellies/boots.
There are three wood burners in the house, which you are most welcome to use. we do not provide and logs or kindling so you need to bring these yourselves. If you are not used to using a log burner, please see the instruction manual so you don't set off the fire alarms!
There is a security keypad on the door meaning it is safe to leave items in the back yard. You enter this back yard from the rear of Esk Terrace.
From the first floor you go upstairs and there are two kingsize bedrooms with antique furniture and Victorian cast iron fireplaces with brand new hotel contract grade comfortable mattresses and white Egyptian cotton bed linen. There is the main house bathroom on this floor, again with over bath power shower, WC and basin.
There is a small staircase leading to the converted attic space which has four full size single beds and an ensuite with a WC and wash basin. Again we have bought contract grade mattresses and have Egyptian cotton bed linen.
Outside to the front of the property is an artificial grassed area and sunken patio with wooden garden seating, umbrella, gas BBQ and plenty of fairy lights. This is South facing and is a real sun trap.

I'm Lucy Naish. My sister and I bought Navy House in March 2017 as we wanted a holiday house that we could use ourselves and share with others. We wanted to be in the centre of town close to the bars and restaurants, but wanted a proper house that we could live in comfortably rather than a tiny cottage and needed some private parking.

Fantastic property with plenty of living space. The decor of the property is beautiful and the owner has clearly thought very hard about the overall quality and design of the property.
We went as a group of six and spent most of our time in the large kitchen diner which is fab. We will definitely be returning in the future. The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had prior to your stay which is always a positive. Great weekend , thank you Lucy
Lovely holiday home
Lovely stay at the beautiful Navy House in Whitby. Stylish, comfortable great facilities and great location! Will definitely be booking to go back and would recommend.
Clean, modern and sociable spaces. Ideal for a family.
My husband and I had a double room and my niece and her husband the second double. Our four adult daughters shared the four single beds on the top floor, a veritable dormitory! Useful to have a loo and washbasin up there too.
The huge, sociable kitchen was well equipped and utilised and we found it a bonus to have two lounging spaces too. Two parking spaces were invaluable as on- street parking is difficult.
Communication with the owner was efficient.

A really stunning holiday home with all mod cons. Lots of lovely touches such as tea, coffee & sugar available, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets & logs (which we forgot to replenish, we will bring some next time we come).

Beautiful house, gorgeous décor and fabulous location
Stayed for my sister's 40th birthday celebration and were so pleased when we arrived, the house is absolutely stunning. We had 3 generations in our party and the set up of rooms was perfect for this. The two sitting rooms meant one room could be dedicated to toys and cartoons for the 3 and 1 year old and the other kept a bit quieter to relax in. The kitchen diner was superb so much space for cooking dining and playing the odd party game. The kitchen was so well equipped as was the rest of the house. The location was absolutely perfect for us, quiet with only a short walk into the centre of Whitby. Overall we had an amazing time and couldn't recommend this more.

Booking Notes - Booking is direct with the owner, by phone or email. A non returnable deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking, with the balance being paid 6 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. Payments can be made online via the Owners Direct website. Changeover Day- Changeover day is Friday. Short breaks are accepted but only in off peak seasons, however as we are a new property, please do contact me and we can look at the availability especially if we have availability at short notice. Arrival Time - You can arrive at the property after 3.30pm. Departure Time - Please depart by 10am on the day of your departure to allow the house to be cleaned ready for the next guests. Cancellations - Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
