What makes this Cottage unique
When we moved in, in May 2006, the properties needed some immediate substantial repairs. The origins of the house are uncertain, but the main house originates from at least the 17th Century, and possibly earlier. Orchard Cottage is an extension to the main house and The Bothy was an old coach house and stable, with hay loft above. They are both at least 200 years old. The main house which was originally thatched, is of stone construction, the brick facia at the front was added approximately 150 years ago. The two new houses to the left of West Hill House were built on what was originally the walled vegetable garden for the house.

Superb holiday in The Bothy
We stayed in Broadwindsor from 3rd to 17th of May.
The Bothy - it is like being at home. You will find everything, even if someone likes ironing... John and Elaine are wonderful hosts, who told us, where to find interesting places and how to get there. We love animals and so we were amused about the two goats at the other side of the fence. Dogs are secure in the nice garden, so that they could relax outside.
All the rooms are nicely decorated and there is a lot of space what makes it easy with two dogs. If someone wants to come without dogs, you can be sure, that you don´t notice, that dogs were in there - the housekeeping-team is perfect.
Broadwindsor is situated in the middle of the most interesting places in Dorset, Somerton or Devon. Visit the pub in Broadwindsor as well! You will be treated, as if you belong to this village, and we liked the food, they serve.
The only bad thing was, that we had to leave after two excellent weeks. But if we travel to Dorset again, we will book an accomodation here - to visit John and Elaine again!
