A quiet, tranquil and beautiful setting for total relaxation and unwinding

Lassere offers you a fabulous base to explore the Pyrenees and the Gers, whilst Spain is only 45 minutes away.

Lassere is a converted C19th farm building that retains many of the original features including timber frames and beams and stone ‘galet’ walls and is set in 40 acres of private woodlands and meadows.

The site is south facing, so maximum sunshine for those that want it – and faces straight out onto an unbroken view of the Pyrenees. The accommodation is: The downstairs main room provides a large, open and cool environment that combines a fully-equipped modern kitchen, dining and living space. There is a dining table for 6 inside, as well as dining facilities outside on two garden terraces. Inside there is plenty of comfortable seating, a substantial log burner and a TV/DVD. Both bedrooms (1double, 1 twin) are fully oak-beamed with a stunning view of the mountains. There is a double sofa-bed downstairs. There are private gardens and a massive pool measuring 12 x 6m. The pool has a hard cover so can be used in bad weather, even when it's raining! Generally speaking, the pool can be used from April to late October!!!!

Holiday duration: All prices are per week Saturday to Saturday. Check in is after 4pm (which is perfect for flights to Tarbes/Lourdes) and check out is 10am.

Please talk to us if you would like a long weekend or an alternative start date, as we may well be able to accommodate you, particularly out of high season.

Cans and Can'ts: We cannot allow pets.

Smoking is NOT permitted inside the gite.

We can provide a high chair and a travel cot if requested.

We can speak fluent French so can help you with anything you need locally.

We do know local Estate Agents so can help you if you’re property hunting.

Other than that, we’ll do all we can to help make your stay a great one – please let us know if there were anything else you’d like us to provide.

  • The bathroom is an important feature of the property that we have devoted a lot of thought to. There are 3 different rooms so that one person doesn’t block all the facilities for everyone else. There is a separate toilet, a shower room and a bathroom (with a full sized bath and sink). This area also houses a corridor for cloakroom storage and a washing machine.

  • Both bedrooms are fully oak-beamed and have the unusual feature of their own separate staircase. Both look out onto the Pyrenees and the hills near by, so whichever room you wake up you are guaranteed a stunning view of the mountains (weather permitting of course!). The double bedroom is timber framed and has a large ‘galet’ wall with a king size bed and is tastefully furnished with traditional French textiles. The twin bedroom is also timber framed and has lots of room for either children or adults, again it is decorated with traditional French fabrics. There is a double sofa-bed downstairs. All beds are provided with all necessary bedding and linen. Towels and pool towels are provided too. A travel cot can be provided, but not its bedding.

Notes:
Outside, there is a private garden, two terraces (1 sunny, 1 shady), BBQ facilities and most important of all…. A 12m x 6m swimming pool that is south facing and overlooking the Pyrenees. Although we use this too from time to time, we can promise that with a pool of this size there’ll be plenty of room for everyone. We provide sun loungers and pool towels. The pool is open from June-end Sep, although this may be extended/curtailed depending on the weather (but cannot be guaranteed and is subject to the owner's discretion). The pool has a hard cover which enormously increases the water temperature and can extend the pool season to April to late October!

Beautiful farmhouse in peaceful location

We had a wonderful holiday in an idyllic location - so peaceful and relaxing. The house is well-equipped, clean and very comfortable and we really enjoyed the large swimming pool as the weather was so warm. We particularly enjoyed visiting surrounding area, beautiful towns and villages of the Pyrenees and even 'popped into' Spain for tapas one evening. We highly recommend this 'away from it all' farmhouse!

Great house in a great location - quiet, secluded with a great view of the Pyrenees. It was very difficult to find when we arrived at first. Lovely large pool although it was too cold for us wimps - it started warming up towards the end of our stay in mid-July. The weather is a bit changeable in this part of France.

Stunning Property in a Beautiful Location

We had a great two weeks at Lassere. This is a lovely property set in a very peaceful and relaxed location. The pool is huge for a private pool, and warm enough to spend hours in even on those more over-cast days. Christopher and Alison are both very approachable and helpful and, although based next door, the buildings are layed out in a manner which ensures privacy. Within 15 minutes drive is a huge outdoor high-ropes (parcour) centre, as well as a small in-door version in Lannemazan. There is also an open-air pool with slide again only 15 minutes away, which only cost 10 Euros for all four of us! Further afield we found plenty of attractions to amuse both ourselves and the children (ages 10 and 12).

Lassere, a perfect tranquil retreat

The property lived up to all our expectations. The gite was very clean, superbly appointed and well furnished providing all our needs. Lots of helpful insider information regarding local restaurants, markets, history and attractions is documented in a handy reference folder. Lassere has comfortable exposed wall and beamed bedrooms and excellent bathroom facilities as well as separate laundry provision. The owners are personable - exceptionally helpful and attentive without encroaching on our privacy. Should we have needed assistance they were very approachable. The layout of Lassere meant that we had our own gardens and pool - very private areas in which to relax in the Gascon sunshine. We would recommend this to discerning holidaymakers who want a quiet countryside vacation with magnificent views of the Pyrenees and superior scenery on the doorstep. The area has many small medieval villages and hamlets to explore where auberges were to be found offering regional specialities suited to all budgets and the quality was excellent. There are several notable attractions nearby for day excursions and the Spanish border is a short drive away. We found the Gascon people to be exceptionally friendly and added immensely to the enjoyment of our visit. We holidayed as a mature couple but the property would suit a family or friends holidaying together or even a younger couple seeking a quiet romantic break. This is the kind of place that you don't want anyone else to find out about. It really is that good. Rating 5/5

quiet and very private house

It was a very nice holiday for two weeks in a house with a lot of privacy, nice weather, a fantastic swimming pool and a million stars at night.

Halfway in between Pau and Toulouse, we are situated in fabulous countryside with a myriad of rivers, caves, grottos & places of historic interest. There is beautiful flora and fauna & the stars are breathtaking.

Only 30 minutes away, the magnificent Pyrenees provide plenty to do to fill a dozen holidays– whether that’s skiing, cycling, walking, climbing, canoeing or rafting! Some of the main local interests you might like to pursue are:

Lannemezan market – enormous, over 2000 people every week. The Gorges de la Save – a natural rock gorge (trout fishing available). Montmaurin Roman ruins. Chateau de Mauvezin. Grottes de Gargas–prehistoric 27,000 year-old hand paintings. Boulogne/Gesse–fabulous open air pools in the summer with slides.

Spain-pop over the border for lunch, excellent ceramics & VERY cheap booze! Skiing–lots of ski resorts & spa towns near by. Wine and cheese tours–excellent wine châteaux, Armanac distilleries nr Condom & the famous Pyrenees brebis cheeses.
