About the property

Englefield House near Stansted airport is the ideal stop over, located just 8 miles from the airport we can provide a convenient and pleasurable stay. The house is furnished to a high standard with 2 double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom and a superking bedroom with ensuite shower. There are two lounges, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and down stairs loo.

We have a sheltered rear porch which we have allotted as a smoking area as well as a large patio to the rear.

Sorry no children under 10, no pets, no confetti and no drones due to location within Stansted airspace.

We live within the grounds so are available should you require anything.

The neighbourhood

We are situated in Hatfield Heath, a thriving village on the Hertfordshire / Essex border. There is a post office, tea rooms, hair dressers, bakers, stationers and Co op store only 5 minutes walk away. We also have various takeaways ( Chinese, Indian, fish and chips, pizza and kebabs) as well as Hunters Meet hotel with its bar and restaurant and two village pubs both of which serve excellent food.

Every summer the Hatfield Heath Festival is held on the main green. The festival was started in June 1969 to pay for rebuilding of the village hall and its upkeep. After a gap of nine years the festival was revived. Its main purpose now is to bring the community together for a happy fun weekend.

To the north of the village is Hatfield Forest, the best surviving example in Britain of an almost complete Royal Hunting Forest. The forest is open to the public and covers 1,049 acres (4 km2) of woodland, grassland with trees, lake and marsh.

Bus travel is the only form of public transport in the village and is vital for younger and elderly residents. The most frequent bus services are the route 59 operating hourly between Harlow and Chelmsford and the route 5 operating hourly between Bishops Stortford and Saffron Walden and serving Stansted Airport

A beautiful well cared for house in a rural location.

  • 5 of 5

We picked the house as a base for a family Wedding in the area and it exceeded all our expectations. Spacious, immaculate and very quiet with a lovely garden. It helped to make the Weekend extra special for us all.

The owner Debbie was both very welcoming and helpful.

Our only suggestion would be the addition of a shower over the bath in the family bathroom, to avoid a queue for the shower in the mornings.

Beautiful home with warm welcome and everything we could need

  • 5 of 5

We were warmly welcomed by Debbie who was lovely and gave us a tour of the property. We were made to feel at home and given recommendations of where to eat, taxi companies, etc. The house itself is beautiful with all the facilities we could possibly need. I cannot recommend Englefield highly enough and would definitely recommend staying there to a friend.

Beautiful property in a lovely setting.

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and very modern. All parts were clean and tidy, and the landlady was very helpful to us, including giving us a spare key to help us out.

The only downside was the there was only one shower and it was located off the master bedroom, with no separating door. For a 7 person house it could use another shower, but otherwise a great place to stay.
