Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
The owners, Steve and Janna, have lived and worked in Southern Oregon all their lives. They have a combined 50 years of work experience with the U.S. Forest Service and can be a useful source of information about local sights, native plants and the wild animals in the area…as well as local history. Their son Jesse returned to his hometown of Prospect back in 2010, and he, along with his wife Samantha, have been helping with the Cabin along with other building projects his parents have been doing in the Prospect area. They, along with their two kids, enjoy the scenic beauty and quiet of Prospect life.
Why Owner chose Prospect
We actually built the cabin ourselves with the help of family and friends. We wanted to showcase our love of working with wood and this seemed the perfect place to do that.
What makes this Cabin unique
The grounds are complete with beautiful landscaping, a hammock, fire pit, an outdoor fireplace under the covered patio, and even a set of outdoor tubs and an outdoor shower. This site is within easy driving distance of Crater Lake National Park which is Oregon’s only National Park. The drive from the cabin to the South Entrance of the park is a 30 minute drive through a beautiful section of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The Wild and Scenic Rogue River is just a short drive away from the cabin. There are many hiking and viewing opportunities on this majestic river. Rafting is also available for everyone from novice to experienced rafters. Raft rentals are available within a half hour drive. Nearby attractions include Crater Lake National Park, Diamond Lake Resort, Rogue River Gorge, Natural Bridge on the Rogue, Mill Creek and Barr Creek Falls, Lost Creek Lake and the majestic Rogue River, just to name a few. Prospect is located along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway.

Great cabin. Everything you need inside, beautifully done and lots of places to sit and relax outside. Perfect place to stay while hiking and enjoying Crater Lake NP and surrounding national forest/state parks. Would absolutely stay here again. Very clean.
Most amazing place!
We have stayed in many HomeAway rentals, and this cabin is the most amazing place for many reasons. The cabin is beautiful- incredible woodwork, tastefully decorated, immaculately clean! The outdoor areas are just as wonderful - gorgeous landscaping, outdoor games, nice trail around the property, outdoor dining and lounging areas. The best part of this cabin is all the information the owners provide in a notebook. It includes details of amazing sites near the cabin all the way to Crater Lake. It was all we needed to understand the best ways to enjoy our time in this gem of a vacation area. This cabin is outstanding!
Wonderful Stay at the Red Blanket Cabin
The cabin surpassed our expectations: not only was it exceptionally clean, it was so well equipped with supplies (lots of plush towels, soaps, dishes, RECORDS! )and information about the area. The owners have taken the time to think about what a guest would need (and may have forgotten) and enjoy during his/her stay and have provided it all. They also created binders of information regarding the area, from hikes locally to information all about Crater Lake. I highly recommend this cabin if you plan to visit Crater Lake. My only regret is that we could not stay longer but we hope to be back in the future.
Red blanket crater lake
Absolutely beautiful place! The artistry, craftsmanship, and beauty of this home and area are breathtaking....and oh-so-relaxing and comfortable!
Clean and welcoming. Exceptional craftsmanship was evident in the use of local woods used to construct this showcase Quiet place with plenty of privacy. Short ride to Crater Lake and Shady Cove. The Little’s thought to provide everything. Weather was exceptionally hot for June and cabin was a most comfortable retreat from the afternoon heat.
Attention to Detail
The cabin is cleverly decorated and the surrounding property protects the visitor’s privacy but it is all the special touches that made our experience there so special. While it was too chilly to enjoy the outdoor shower or tubs, we did enjoy wine by the outdoor fireplace. The kitchen was well- stocked and after dark, we enjoyed selections from the classic movie collection. We would definitely rent this cabin again.
