Stunning, luxuriously appointed 4 double bedroom Villa in Tavira with 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), 1 shower room, large living room with dining area and modern kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven/hob, microwave etc.

Features: Airconditioning in all bedrooms and living areas. Large 32 in LCD TV with UK Freeview channels. Gas fired boiler for plentiful hot water.

Electric shutters/fly-screens fitted to all windows and balcony doors. Large front balcony (off living room) with table and chairs. 2 bedrooms with king-size beds. 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds. 3 bedrooms with large built-in wardrobes, one bedroom with free-standing wardrobe. Hair dryers in all bedrooms. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have balconies with table and 2 chairs. 2 bathrooms with bath plus rainmaker shower, smaller bathroom has rainmaker shower. Ample towels in all bathrooms. Further shower on ground floor. Small pool at front. Rear garden is secure for small children. Car not essential but recommended.

Letting Agent: This is a privately owned villa and all bookings are managed by our local agents, East Algarve Rentals in nearby Vila Real, who provide a service which we believe is second to none in the area. Angie Graham, on +351 910 880 908, will meet you on your arrival, deal with any concerns that may arise during your stay and check you out on your day of departure.

Services include: Meet and Greet service at the Villa on your day of arrival to show you around and and answer any questions.

A welcome pack to help you settle in. This includes water, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, wine, beer, soft drinks (if there are children in the party) and toilet paper. The tenants' information pack in the living room includes useful phone numbers, guidance for use of the appliances, TV etc, details of local supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, places of interest. A mid-stay clean is provided for rentals of more than 7 days.

Angie is contactable 24 hours a day and will act as an English/Portuguese contact in the event of an emergency. She will respond to all enquiries re the property and appliances, arrange car hire/taxi if required and can organise golf (with preferential discount) at local courses. She will check you out on departure, collect the keys and refund your security deposit. Check out is at 1200 unless otherwise arranged.

Car Hire: Most of the usual car-hire companies are represented at Faro Airport. However, for best rates, we favour a small local company called Algarve Rent a Car based in Almancil on +351 289 395 316. Their representative will meet you at Faro Airport and your car will be waiting in the car park just across the road from the Terminal. When booking, please be sure to use the correct web address because there are others with very similar names! All enquiries can be addressed to info@algarverent-a-car and for preferential rates, remember to tell Alexandre Santos that your booking has come through the Villa owner, Roger Price, in Tavira. If you need to top up the fuel tank on departure, there is a convenient filling station on the roundabout just as you enter the Airport.

Please note that since Jan 2015, all Rental Properties in Portugal must comply with approved Safety and Fire Regulations and to display an identification plate next to the front entrance. This property is registered with Tavira Municipal Council under Licence no 7686/AL.

Living in England and a retired Airline pilot. I have been all over the world but always love coming back to Portugal. We spent some time looking for our ideal property, and we have never changed our mind about this Villa. We come here mainly in the Spring and Autumn.

Why Angie Graham chose Tavira region

First of all, Tavira is such a wonderful town. It is a working town and there is always something going on, Summer and Winter. It is not as busy or glitzy as Albufeira or Villamoura but there is still plenty to do, particularly if you like golf.

Being so far South, the skies are always clear and there are said to be 300 days of sunshine every year. You are also fairly close to the Spanish border, and is not much more than an hours drive to the beautiful City of Seville.

It might take a bit of effort to get to the main beach on Ilha da Tavira, and for this reason, it is always relatively quiet. The sea is clear (if a bit on the cold side) and the beaches spotless, washed by the Atlantic currents.

Then the property if very handily placed, it only takes 10 mins to walk into town which means everyone can enjoy themselves and no-one has to drive.

The Villa is still relatively new, very well equipped and we strive to keep it in tip-top condition and if anything goes wrong during your stay, we shall do our utmost to get it fixed without causing you any inconvenience.

Varando do Mar Villa 2008

The villa was exactly as described the location is just right so you don't have to rent a car to get around. The property was very clean and well maintained. Graham the pool man is very helpful and a credit to the owner. Also having good neighbours is very benefical. The customer care we received from Angie was fantastic its like having your own personal holiday rep and she is happy to help with any problems or information etc. I would definately recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit tavira for a relaxing villa holiday. I would recommend a trip on the little train that travels around Tavira. If you are missing home whilst away I would recommend Mad Hatters english bar there 10 Euro Mega breakfast is as english as you can get.

We didn't really do much else just relax, swim and eat. All I can say is that the Villa is fantastic with great facilities and the Management Team of Angie & Stuart are two of the nicest, friendliest, helpful people you could ever wish to meet. We may be going back next year.

We have just returned home after a wonderful holiday! The villa is well appointed, clean and spacious. Furniture and fittings are of a high standard as was the cleanliness of the property. The gardens and pool area provided hours of amusement for the children, the inflatables an added bonus.The spaciousness of the property allowed everyone to enjoy some space. Angie was very welcoming and took time to explain the features of the property, thank you . We loved returning to Tavira and sharing the experience with our daughter, her partner and children. The bird life on the marshes was fantastic, seeing a flock of flamingo in flight was spectacular. We enjoyed a trip to the fish and general produce market in Olhao, excellent lamb chops.Also a good experience for the children to see real fruit and veg rather than the well manicured of English supermarkets! Ethan aged 7 summed it up, 'the bestest holiday ever'. I think the gelato shop in town was a big hit too!

I was prompted to respond to the wholly erroneous review by the above who only gave the property two stars. We stayed here last July and found everything to be exceptional. Angie was very helpful whenever we needed help, which wasn't often, and throughout the whole booking process. The furnishings were of a high standard and the beds very comfortable. Regarding a car, we had one, which was invaluable for bulk shopping from an out-of town supermarket, so I would have to agree that one is desirable but not essential as the walk into town only takes ten or fifteen minutes. Once you are over the busy road, the walk is very pleasant with a great bakery and cafe en route. A car is also invaluable to get to the fabulous beaches to the east of the town, past Cabanas. Tavira itself is wonderful for a host of reasons.

I would love to come back and would certainly choose this property.

We were shocked by the "Asheville" review from April 2014 because we have never had any feedback like that and with hand on heart, it was not justifiable and also difficult to defend. But I hope that all the comments we have had since have now put that to rest. We love Tavira, the town, the beaches, the ambience etc. and it is hard to imagine what is not to like about the place - unless you are after bright lights and night clubs, which you will not find. We always listen to our guest comments and strive to keep everything up to scratch. Most of this is down to Angie, who manages and maintains the Villa for us and if you met her you would understand this. So thanks Angie And thanks again Malcolm for your review, please come back and see us soon!

Spacious, well equipped. Fab

Villa was fab. Each room was spacious & well furnished. The outside areas were great with pool/sunbeds and the rear area with great BBQ & dining area.

Although we had utilised all four bedrooms - there was never a time that we were on top of each other - this was due to the inside & outside space.

It was a 10 minute walk into the main town in Tavira - this was fine.

Tip. The 20 minute stroll from the main supermarket is quite difficult with shopping & bottles of water....I would therefore suggest a taxi.

Not luxurious

This is a relatively new house in clean condition. Angie and her husband, while very nice, proved somewhat unhelpful when things were not working and with arranging the deposit and final payment.

The house is advertised as luxury. It is acceptable, but far from luxurious. The mattresses are thin and seem cheap, the furnishings are stark and the kitchen is pitifully equipped. I was very pleased with the cleanliness, but had expected more of a high-end rental. In this listing, they promise a welcoming basket. Other than one bottle of wine, no such basket appeared. In fact, we were left with no soap, one half roll of toilet tissue, no paper towels -not even basic necessities.

Important facts about the house are not revealed: It sits across a very busy highway from Tavira. It is not close to town, about a 20 minute walk minimum. The ferry to the beach does not run in April, but one must take a taxi to a different town to catch it. I was told a car was unnecessary. While we made it work, I would not advise renting this property without a car.

A few upgrades with comfortable furniture, some rugs, a better equipped kitchen and nicer bedding would have made a big difference.

Owner's Response: I am very disappointed to read such a critical review. It is the first negative review we have ever received and some of the points made are simply not correct. The villa is equipped to the highest standards and the furnishings are expensive. The two double beds are designer made, in chrome and leather, and the mattresses are of first class quality. Admittedly the single bed mattresses are thin but with our target "twin family" market these are intended for kids. Also, there are rugs in all the bedrooms and the bedding and towels are of high quality. The kitchen is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, plus coffee maker, toaster and blender. Crockery, cutlery and glassware is provided for 12 places and is replaced regularly. There are adequate pots, saucepans, roasting trays and serving bowls plus plastic “glasses” for use outside and around the pool. This is not “pitiful” by any standard. It definitely does not take 20 mins to walk into town. The road in question is 300m away, as can be seen from the location map, and is not difficult to cross. Once across the road, it is a further 500m into town, along quiet residential streets. This should take no more than 10 mins. The ferry runs all the year round and was operating during their stay, which can easily verified online. The villa description clearly states “A car is recommended if you want to make the most of all that Tavira has to offer, but since the Villa is located just a short 10 mins walk from the centre of town, a car is not essential.” Angie, who manages the property has a reputation for being helpful and for having the best interests of our guests at heart. She apologises if the welcome pack was inadequate but says that there were two full toilet rolls and two halves so each bathroom had paper. She says she fixed the internet problem within 2 hours and explained about the water heater over the phone. Every time she was called, all requests were dealt with. All emails were answered and additionally she arranged the airport transfers for them, which all turned up punctually and no specific complaints were addressed to her at the time. In summary, I can only apologise that we were unable to meet the expectations of the writer. I feel the criticism is harsh, the comments are untypical and many statements are simply incorrect. I should like to understand more about this complaint if the writer would like to email me direct.

The villa was beautiful and superbly appointed and equipped. It was very clean both inside and outside with very modern fittings. The swimming pool was beautifully clean and warm - lovely in fact. Angie Graham was outstanding from the very beginning, from the booking stage to departure. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she was absolutely reliable and prompt in her attention : Fantastic.

There is something for everyone in the charming, historic town of Tavira. The villa is a just a 10 minute walk from the town centre with its many shops, bars restaurants and sights. The wonderfully secluded local beaches on the Ilha de Tavira are reached by a short boat ride from the town. Close by are the magnificent golf courses of Benamour, Quinta de Ria and Castro Marim (discounts available) and Esturi (30 min away in Spain). Boats leave the pier for deep-sea fishing all along the Algarve coast. Plus many other activities, places of interest and museums. In nearby Luz de Tavira there are fine examples of Manueline art and the Roman mosaics of Torre de Aves. Magnificent Seville is only 90 min away by car.

A car is recommended if you want to to make the most of all that Tavira has to offer, but since the Villa is located just a short 10 mins walk from the centre of town, a car is not essential.

Golf: Golf at Benamor (10 mins), Quinta da Ria/Quinta de Cime (15 mins) and Castro Marim (25 mins) may be booked through East Algarve Rentals at preferential rates. Other convenient golf courses are Esturi (just over the border into Spain (30 min) and the spectacular new Monte Rei Golf and Country club (20 mins), heralded as 'the most exclusive and cosmopolitan development in the Algarve' and set in 1000 acres of beautiful countryside between Tavira and Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

We offer all returning guests a 10% discount on our published rates. Any booking for the next year and made before the end of October on the present year will be charged at rates for the present year.

Normal occupancy is 8 guests and is priced accordingly. However, during Mid and Low season, we offer a discount of 20% for small parties of 4 guests or fewer as long as only 2 bedrooms are used.

A 25% deposit is required to secure the booking, with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival. The deposit is refundable for cancellation before 8 weeks but no refund can be given for cancellation inside 4 weeks. Refunds between 8 weeks and 4 weeks out are at the discretion of the owner depending on re-booking the vacant days. All charges will be advised by Angie at the time of booking.
