A fully equipped Single Room with 2 single sofa beds and separate bathroom
A mitato is a hut to provide shelter to shepherds consisting of one large room that had been subdivided into living, working and storage spaces as needed.
We feel our humble dwelling is a modern interpretation of this ideal and we hope that all your requirements will be catered . Although compact the space is very well equipped for all the needs of the travellers who wish to explore the Akamas Peninsula as we love to do.
We will always be available to assist if required and are very happy to share our knowledge of the area, the walks , cycle routes. We have a small speed boat and excursions are available at very competitive rates for us to show you personally the bays around the Akamas Penninsula.
We have a kayak available for you to use as well as mountain bikes as well
If you wish to rent out your own craft then we would recommend Latchi Water Sports who will be more than happy to accommodate your needs.
The countryside is fantastic for walking whether it be to the deserted villages in the hills or to the sea and all the route maps are at your disposal.
There are flasks for picnics, which we can provide on request as well as Nordic poles.
The GPS coordinates are "E and it is very important you refer to them as it can be rather confusing as on Maps the Street is still named Elia Tavrou after the original Muktah (local village mayor) but all the road signs now refer to it as 31Georgio Paraskeva
On your arrival, if we cannot meet you, then the keys will be located in the key safe on the wall behind the back gate, the code for which we will have given you earlier when you booked with us.We will always only use the outer bolt on the gate but suggest when you are settled you use both if it is windy.
As you drive up the main road from Latchi into the village, the public parking is in the right hand side just before the Public Phone box and only 150 meters from Mitato .
We recommend you park there as the turning into the rear courtyard area of Mitato is a very tight turn and for our neighbours only and we want to respect their privacy.
Mitato is located on the left hand opposite side to the public Phone box 3 buildings up.
The hanging sign on the top foremost corner of the building will be visible (and at night the external light will be on to guide you).
Neo Chorio is a lovley village and there are several Tavernas but for the most authentic and fresh food Smyges at the top of the street is best with music usually played by locals on Fridays.Koopas is closer by and we would recommend the octopus especially as a starter.
For coffee and cake Alexis next door but one to Mitato, is delightful.
In Latchi there are several European style restaurants and Debbie’s is great for a bacon buttie after a brisk walk down the hill.
For special occasions Old Town in Polis is a wonderful restaurant, we think one of the best on the island and one of our favourites.
Further a field there is obviously a huge variety but Araouzos Tavern, Kathikas serves delicious local dishes and offers a fantastic warm welcome
We have a deadicated private parking area at the rear of Mitato.
It is an 8km walk into Latchi which we love to do if you are up for it.
There is a local bus service that runs every 20 minutes into Latchi and Polis and on to Pafos.

No complaints only praise
Mitato exceeded all expectations in terms of accommodation equipment and location. Felt like home immediately. Very cleverly designed interior. We road tested it with a view to a longer stay and ended up with more ticks than boxes and Jane and Andrew go that extra mile to welcome and advise guests. Thank you both we will be back asap. Ramon & Margaret (Yorkshire)
Thank you so much for your kind words it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both.
Perfect for the independent traveller
Mitato provided the perfect base for me as I cycled in the Akamas and Pafos Forest. The owners have transformed this once dilapidated building into a cozy abode with lots of extras tucked away in the ample storage. Neo Chorio is a real unspoilt Cypriot Village, with nearby Latchi and Polis offering a wider selection of shops and Restaurants. I’ll be back.
Paige and chad's first holiday together
Mitato was fantastic for us we loved our stay ,it was our first holiday together and was ideal and better than we had hoped for . The cottage has everything you need , the location is brilliant in quiet village of Neo Chorio . there is a little supermarket , a restaurant and a cafe next door but one ,where they do cake , snacks and coffees. the owners where great too with local information. We would return again in the future.
Thank you so much for staying with us.it was an absolute pleasure to have such thoughtful guests and would welcome you back anytime xxx
It is of course part of the fun to explore what is on offer and in the village there are several tavernas but for the most authentic and fresh food Smyges at the top of the street is best with music usually played by locals on Fridays. Kouppa’s is closer by and we would recommend the octopus especially as a starter and the Souvla (roast meat done on the bbq ) on Tuesday evenings. For coffee and cake Alexis next door but one to Mitato, is delightful after a long walk,. In Latchi there are several European style restaurants and Debbie’s is great for a bacon buttie after a brisk walk down the hill (it is a round trip of 10 kilometres but really gives you a great appetite. If you fancy it, take the first right after you leave Mitato then follow the road past the cemetery down to the water tank , bear left then take the next right all the way to the end of the Latchi harbour front. Debbie’s is the third block on your right on the seaside ( it’s open generally until 2pm ), For special occasions Old Town in Polis is a wonderful restaurant, we think one of the best on the island and one of our favourites. The traditional food is given fantastic twists such as Rabbit Steffado. Further a field there is obviously a huge variety but Araouzos Tavern, Kathikas serves delicious local dishes and a warm welcome. If you are travelling to a vineyard we would definitely recommend Tsangarides and on route stop off at The Vineyard Taverna in Letymvou if you fancy some traditional British grub. Otherwise Kolios winery, another of our best tips does a fantastic lunch and offers stunning views of the countryside but it’s a long trip so you must book in advance.
