This was our first visit to Bar Harbor. What a beautiful area for exploring! The weather was perfect and the food delicious. The townhouse was so nice and clean. We especially enjoyed the location away from the traffic and crowds. Thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience.
We loved the Northridge townhouse. We were very impressed with the cleanness, comfort of the beds and the helpfulness of the owners. The Barkers provided great insight into hiking, biking, restaurants and more. The extras at the house were so nice (for example a basket of books about Acaida, laundry room with detergent and more) We truly felt at home during our vacation. It is also nice the townhouse is so close to Acaida entrance and downtown Bar Harbor.
Everything about this house was just perfect, from the fully stocked kitchen (including a dishwasher!!) to the comfortable living room and the spacious bedrooms. The house backs up to the woods, and we saw deer back there many times. You can sit and eat on the deck or on a lower patio right next to the woods. The best part is that you are so close to downtown Bar Harbor, yet the house is located in a very quiet neighborhood. We were able to get downtown in 2 minutes. We were also able to easily get to many of our favorite hikes on the island in no time at all. Even crossing over to the west side of the island is quick because you're right off of 233. I recommend this place very highly. We had a wonderful week!
When we were looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor and found this home we were slightly concerned about the lack of recent reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. I am so glad we did! This home is in a great location close to Acadia, downtown, and hiking trails. We walked into town everyday and also hiked and biked right from the property. Since we were there at a busy time for tourist, when we did drive into town it was a challenge to find a parking space but we were always able to do so. It was so nice to come back to a quiet home after spending time in town! We had 4 adults in our party, and there was plenty of space in the home. We only cooked dinner in one evening, but we could have easily done so every night since the kitchen was so well stocked. The Barkers have many staples in the home that we have had to buy at the store when renting other places such as paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters, spices and so on. They even left 2 cold locally brewed blueberry beers with frosted mugs in the refrigerator ready for our arrival! We had one extremely minor problem with the dryer and Mr. Barker came right over when we called. We highly recommend a trip to Bar Harbor and that you stay at the Northridge Townhouse when you are there. You will not be disappointed.
We rented this house in August 2011 and enjoyed our stay. The house in centrally located between
the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park-just a mile either way. The house had everything
you could possibly think of. The house was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. We definitely
My family of 4 stayed for a week at the end of May - beginning of June. The owner of this townhouse goes above and beyond to provide a warm and welcoming home equipped with all the conveniences of staying in a home away from home.
The location is perfect. Close to downtown Bar Harbor, hiking trails and biking roads, such as the Carriage Roads, sailing, a buy your own lobster house a minute away (delicious). The townhouse is listed as smoke free - an important feature for us - and it smelled smoke free - none of that after smell you often find in hotels which claim to be smoke free but clearly someone has smoked in the room. The owner also provided some very insightful information on hikes, etc.
We have hiked in many locations (national parks and forests and Appalachian Trail portions), but Acadia exceeded our expectations in hiking vistas and challenging climbs.
We did not encounter the infamous black flies - lucky us!
Stay here, you will not be disappointed.
One word of warning when shopping in Bar Harbor - before purchasing check the store policy for returns. My daughter purchased a blouse at the Hemporium but by the time she walked the length of the street she realized she should not have bought this item. They would allow a return. They do not tell you this and you are suppose to assume that the sign which reads "exchanges only with receipt - no exchanges on sale items" means there are no returns, period - that's assuming you even see the sign along with all of the other distractions in the store. They make no exceptions and no admission of deception (not even at my suggestion that they not only post a better sign but also verbalize the rule).
The Property sits in the middle of it all: Cadillac Park Entrance is within 1/4 mile; 3 mile drive and you are at the top of Cadillac for sunrise/sunset; 2 miles and you can be biking/walking on beautiful Carriage Roads; 1 mile to downtown and endless restaurants/shopping; less than 1 mile to hiking trails; golf is within 2 minutes; Ocean/beaches within 2 miles; whale watching within 2 miles.....the list goes on.....
