About Les Arcis Alice
After 24 years of living in Paris, we recently moved back to England. Chateau Les Arcis has been our family home for the last 10 years - we went down every weekend from Paris and were based there permanently during the school holidays. Now that we live in England, we would like to rent out Les Arcis for several months of the year, so that others can enjoy it, while enabling us to keep hold of our beautiful home.
Les Arcis Alice purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2006
Why Les Arcis Alice chose Hauterive
Chateau Les Arcis is a very special place. People fall in love with it from the moment they arrive. There are so many great places to visit and things to do in the area but many guests prefer to stay put and enjoy the tranquility of the extensive gardens, lie by the pool or play tennis... There's no need to actually go anywhere! At the same time as being a peaceful retreat and surrounded by history, culture and gastronomy, there are plenty of amenities nearby ranging from local shops to a large commercial centre within 15 minutes drive. The famous caterers Festins de Bourgogne are within 10 minutes drive and they can cater for all your needs - from large dinner parties to romantic dinners for two...
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
A quote from recent guests: “A French chateau with some serious wow factor, this beautiful home in Burgundy was the perfect setting for our family holiday. Luxurious but also wonderfully laid back, it had every possible amenity - tennis court, swimming pool, fully equipped kitchen, gas barbecue, DVD with full library of movies, games room, etc - allowing us all to relax, unwind, keep everyone entertained and also treat ourselves. Would highly recommend hiring the local chef too for an extra special treat. Can’t wait to go back.”

Fabulous country retreat
Beautiful manor with excellent amenities including pool, tennis court (with racquets), gas grill and fully equipped kitchen. Alice and Marcha were easy to work/communicate with and were committed to our having a wonderful time. Seignelay was just a few minutes away and has fantastic boulangerie as well as nice supermarket. Lots to do within 90 minutes and there are books with information about local attractions/events. Our extended family of 8 had plenty of space to spread out and we had a memorable stay.
We highly recommend Les Arcis. We had a wonderful family experience which we would love to repeat.
We looked forward to a very special family holiday and Les Arcis did not disappoint in any way. Set in a lovely part of France, near a supermarket, villages and surrounded by countryside, the chateau is absolutely beautiful, typically French and very tastefully decorated. Whilst it is a stately home, with elegant furniture, it is also very comfortable and it had everything our family needed. From the time we arrived we enjoyed the pool and relaxed in the sun on the poolside seating. For cooler seating we used the veranda of the sheltered Summer house and a perfect eating and barbecue area next to the Atelier, which had a fridge for cold drinks. The Atelier also had every game imaginable and a TV area with a variety of DVDs and comfy seating. There is an electronic game/TV room in the chateau too, with seating for the whole family to have a 'cinema' evening. Outside, we enjoyed walking by the river, tennis, boules and table tennis and the children made full use of the slide and swing. The garden is beautifully maintained and it was enjoyable to spend time relaxing in the peaceful orchard. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen and had leisurely meals together around large family tables, in beautiful surroundings. Richard and Christine were friendly, very helpful and on-hand if we needed anything and we enjoyed meeting them. All in all, we had a wonderful experience which we would love to repeat in the future and we thoroughly recommend Les Arcis for a family holiday. Jane and family
Thank you so much! We are very happy that you and your family enjoyed Les Arcis as much as we always do. It is indeed a very special place. We look forward to welcoming you back anytime.
French Wine Country Heaven
This beautifully maintained property is less than two hours outside of Paris. We never wanted to leave the grounds, there is everything to keep the kids happy: miles to run, pool, tennis, and playhouse. We adults lazed all day by the pool while the children run happy and wild on the enclosed grounds. The owner gave us wonderful reccomendations for off the beaten path wine tastings. Make sure she shows you the mill across the stream where they make the best croissants and bread. The layout of the Chateau allows for several families to enjoy a vacation together, while maintaining peaceful , private moments. Best family vacation ever.
Thank you! I'm so glad you had such a great time and truly made the most of everything on offer.
We look forward to welcoming you all again soon.
Thank you so much! We are very happy you all had a good holiday and that love the house as much as we do.
We look forward to welcoming you back any time.
Very best wishes for 2019,
Les Arcis is located heart of northern Burgundy between Chablis and Auxerre,
A region steeped in history, culture, wine and gastronomy:
Auxerre, with its perfectly preserved medieval streets that wind haphazardly across, up and down this hilly town, majestic cathedral and equally grand churches and exquisitely refurbished quais along the river Yonne.
Chablis, surrounded on all sides by the vineyards that produce its famous wine which can be sampled (by way of dégustation) at the numerous caves and restaurants throughout the village.
The old market town of Joigny which boasts, along with Auxerre and Chablis, some outstanding restaurants, including
the Michelin starred Cote St Jaques.
The village of Pontigny, with its spectacular abbey, a Unesco heritage site.
The villages of La Foret d’Ote – little known gems in an area famed locally for its cider and best visited by bike to allow you to fully appreciate its spectacular countryside.
The Morvan, with its ancient forests, beautiful lakes and wild, rolling countryside.
The towns of Vezelay and Avalon,
are well worth a visit. Come here for walks, sailing, swimming, bike touring, white water rafting and nature and history tours of a region that was a major centre for
the Resistance in the Second World War.
A little further south is the town of Beaune, the capital of Burgundy where wine lovers can linger for as long as they can manage...
There is also the fascinating medieval construction of the magnificent Chateau de Guedelon which is being built using only techniques and materials used in the Middle Ages. And very nearby is the 17th century Chateau de Saint Fargeau, which is always a great visit and has a wonderful open air Spectacle Historique every evening in the Summer.
Les Arcis is approx 1h45 drive from Paris (A6 or A5) and 4 hours from Calais.. There are regular direct trains from Paris Bercy to Laroche Migennes which take 1h10 and we are only 8 minutes from the train station. From Orly Airport it is approximately 1h15.
