Lovely Stay in Inistioge

  • 5 of 5

Mark and Margaret were incredibly accommodating and friendly hosts. Their home was beautiful and provided an excellent getaway. Inistioge is a scenic small town with easy access to Kilkenny and nearby towns. The coach home was clean and well maintained and the tennis court was very cool and provided a nice little evening activity! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an Irish getaway!

Absolutely beautiful! Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had seen photos of the house and property, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The pictures didn't do it justice! It was perfect for us! Maggie and Mark were gracious hosts and we wish we could have spent more time getting to know them. They are readily available when needed, but not at all intrusive. There were fresh cut flowers from the garden waiting for us and the house was warm, clean, and cozy. It was only my husband and myself on this trip but the house would have easily accommodated 2-3 more. The location was perfect for day trips to Kilkenny and the surrounding areas. We were never at a loss for something to do. We stayed for a week, but could have stayed for a month! The village is quaint and locals are warm and welcoming. We had lunch at Circle of Friends - great burgers and desserts! The owner and her husband couldn't have been nicer! Also lunched at Schoolhouse one day while strolling through town. Great soup and sandwiches! We visited The Otter Pub on our first night, looking for dinner. Unfortunately, they had already stopped serving food for the day (be warned, many places stop serving food by 7 pm), but the owner was kind enough to call a friend who owned a restaurant nearby, Mannion's, (10 minutes away) and reserve a table for us! The food was excellent! We re-visited The Otter Pub a couple of other times and had a pint with the locals and watched a session. Wonderful people! We also visited The Woodstock Pub and had a wonderful time. Woodstock gardens are a beautiful place to spend a day wandering. The nearby town of Thomastown was also a beautiful, friendly place to visit. Maggie and Mark have a few animals who visited us on a daily basis (a rooster and duck who are best buddies, and a cat). We welcomed their company, but did not feel like we had to. They would have easily left us alone, but we missed our pets and adopted them while we were visiting. The animals are kept in a pen until late in the morning so you don't have to worry about being awaken by a crowing rooster at the break of dawn! We loved our trip to Ireland, but our stay in Inistioge was by far our favorite part. It was wonderful to have a 'home base'. We took a day trip to Gallway and considered staying overnight, but found that we would rather drive the 3 hours back to Inistioge and stay in 'our own bed'. We are already planning our return and have highly recommended it to several friends. Can't wait to return!

Wonderful Rustic Location with Character

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for several days at this wonderful former coach house converted into a rather spacious two bedroom home with character. It was just the right size for our family of four. It is within easy driving of Limerick, Waterford and Cork among many other prominent locations in southeastern Ireland. Margaret & Mark were wonderful hosts providing suggestion on locations to visit and the best routes to take. The unit was well stocked with everything needed to self-catering and stores were easy to find along our return routes in the evenings. We enjoyed the resident cat, duck and two roosters. We could not have been happier with this choice to experience the Irish countryside and small town life within easy reach of the tourist must see locations.

Great stone Coach House in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We got exactly what we asked for with this little house. Perfect for our family of four. Couldn't ask for nicer or more accommodating hosts in Mark and Maggie. Wifi was spotty at best- no problem picking it up on the laptop, but our iphones wouldn't oblige. Fireplace did an excellent job of keeping us warm on some cold windy nights and the bed heaters were the best! Not terribly close to the big cities, but with a car we had no problem getting around to anywhere we needed to go including Cork and Galway. Loved the visits with the kitty and even a rooster that came to visit late one morning!

Wow wow sooo amazing! !!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing feeling to arrive in a foreign country and feel so welcomed. ..I just felt right at home what lovely hosts Barbara and Mark are. .but there's something very special about this place. ..I went all over Ireland. .but nothing else had the warmth the atmosphere that you feel the moment you arrive. .its like you can feel an energy of love warmth and comfort. ...There's so much I can say it's the perfect place to stay and be able to explore sooo many places around you. ..from here I visited Waterford. ..Wexford. .carlow. ..and the many surrounding towns and ofcoz Killkenny itself. ..but I have to be honest and say every where I stayed in Ireland was amazing. But this place ill treasure the feeling in my heart. ..There's just something very beautiful and unique it will stay with me forever. ..I'm so looking forward to being here in summer. i

Loved this place...

  • 4 of 5

My two cousins and I are all over 50 women thoroughly enjoyed our stay there! Great bed downstairs, loved the cubicles in the bathroom, rock work and beams...we even started the fireplace one night. Fun. Coach House is what we imagined it would be, quiet, relaxing and we loved the little chickens and ducks that came to visit. Owners were a dream to deal with, friendly but left us alone. Great little place to hike around, beautiful countryside. Would love to come back! Only down of the whole thing was the big spiders, my cousin did not like them.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. We are sorry about the spiders and appreciate your comment. We have installed a number of ultrasonic spider "zappers" throughout the house. To date they seem to be working really well and we hope this has solved the problem for the future. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again.
