3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, In The Mountains, On The Lake, Big Creek Area
About Joanne Geveshausen
My husband and I both grew up in the Midwest. We met in Minneapolis, MN and married in February, 1984, moving to Kentucky in August of that same year. There we had three sons, but our love for the lakes (Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes) kept our thoughts of heading back that way percolating in the recesses of our minds. However, we discovered Norris Lake back in 2000, and the rest, as the saying goes, is history. We have made many memories here with friends and family over the years. We nurtured a vision of growing our slice of paradise so we could share this area with other lake-lovers and have been fortunate enough to make that dream a reality. We now offer three cottages here in the Big Creek area of Norris Lake and have spent a tremendous amount of time and energy making this a family-friendly place for you to come to year after year! From the awesome swim/boat dock, pontoon boats, kayaks, to the decks and fire pit, SEAS THE DAY is a great place from which to enjoy the lake. We are confidant that you never tire of the beauty in and around Norris Lake. It is a feast for the eyes! Additionally, East TN is a HUGE play ground. Not only does is it home to one of the prettiest lakes, but there acres and acres of land dedicated to hiking, four-wheeling, hunting, biking and horseback riding. The outdoor enthusiast has a cornucopia of options! C'mon and enjoy!
Joanne Geveshausen purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Joanne Geveshausen chose Jacksboro
We choose this area not only because of its proximity to I75 and to town, but also for its privacy, its peace and quiet, and feeling of getting away from it all. The fact that the cabin is on a dead end lane lends itself to those qualities. There are two marinas in close proximity to SEAS THE DAY. They are Indian River Marina and Whitman Hollow marina. This end of the lake has a plethora of coves to hang out in, rocks to climb and jump off of,and rope swings. It offers nice and smooth areas to ski or tube, and plenty of places to dangle a fishing line. At night, the star-studded sky is something to behold. It is my humble opinion that it doesn't get much better than this!
What makes this Cottage unique
As a guest here, you will really enjoy the night sky, the summer night sounds of crickets, owls, cicada bugs, the sun coming over the mountain in the morning, the swim area, the fire pit, the decks, the dock, the peace and quiet....I could go on and on. Additionally, it is conveniently located close to town. Food-city and super Wal-mart are approx 5 minutes away. Lowe's, Wal-Green's, CVS, hospital, Liquor barn, etc., all are nearby. If you have to make a beer run or an ice-cream run, it won't eat up much of your day, where you really need to be out on the lake!

Do not book if you’re fishing a tournament
Booked this property to stay for a fishing tournament. The booking was before the Covid-19 situation blew up. Week of tourney was waiting to find out if tourney would be cancelled. Owner said would not refund if cancelled because they couldn’t rebook on short notice. While I usually would agree with that these were obviously extraordinary circumstances and wouldn’t have rebooked it anyway. Was told there were plenty of room to park 3 boats and tows. There wasn’t room and parking was horrible!!! You basically are backing off of a cliff!!! House smelled like a porta potty the smell was really bad!
This was truly a painful review to read as we always try to go out of our way to be as accommodating to our guests as possible. Prior to arrival date, we spoke on the phone about the possibility of the fishing tournament being cancelled and what our policy was regarding cancellations. Since the tournament was only a week away we offered to reschedule his trip at a later date. We both agreed that by the very nature of a fishing tournament, folks would be self-distancing on the lake so the chances of the tournament being cancelled was pretty slim. The tournament went on as scheduled. Regarding parking at the cabin: He was told that there was enough room for either 2 trucks and a boat trailer, 1 truck and 2 boat trailers, or 3 trucks. He was told that the marina provided a grassy field close by for all boat trailers. We are unable to address cliffs in the mountainous region of east TN. As far as the bad odor, if there was a problem while your husband was there, I'm curious as to why he did not reach out to me or my manager as he had both of our phone numbers. After your husband and his friends left, our cleaning gal went in and never said anything about an unpleasant odor, nor did we smell anything when we checked after reading your review. If you look at prior reviews, you will see all of the positive comments about how clean the cabin is. Maybe the fact that we kept $100.00 of your security deposit skewed your thoughts about your husband's visit? Your husband called my manager and asked if they could leave their vehicles on the driveway while they spent the day on the lake, this being on the day they were scheduled to leave, check out time being 10:30 per rental contract. They were told that since no body was checking in that day, it would be fine for them to leave their vehicles in the driveway. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding on your husband's part as all of their belongings were still in the cabin as if they planned on staying another day. Our cleaning gal came in the morning to clean the cabin and had to leave because of all the personal items still there. When she called my manager about it, my manager reached out and offered the cabin for another day or your husband could pay for a partial day. When it was decided that the group would leave, we kept out $100.00 for the partial day rental and to pay our cleaning gal for her time and gas having to make an additional trip to the cabin to clean it the following day. Overall, our experience was positive with the renters and it shows in the 5 star rating we left. We would have gladly dealt with any and all issues during their (your) stay had we been made aware.
