About the property

On an historic and romantic baronial estate overlooking Lough Derg, your perfect holiday cottage awaits. Surrounded by primroses and with idyllic pastoral views, the cottage contains every comfort imaginable, including wi fi and tv. Newly renovated, it features a queen bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, and warm, comfortable and light filled sitting room. Gorgeous pastoral views from your rooms and walks along private pathways along Lough Derg, only accessible to visitors to the Estate, will be highlights of your visit.

The village of Terryglass is just down the lane, a short stroll away, and boasts two award winning gastro pubs. Terryglass Quay draws visitors from all over Ireland to enjoy the scenery, boating, waterskiing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Clay pigeon shooting, horse back riding, sailing, tennis, golf and archery are all close by. Your hosts, Jenny and Kieran, will be on hand and will gladly assist with organizing any activity.

The location of Terryglass in the center of the country mean that all the must-see places in Ireland are within a short drive. Take day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Galway, Kylemore Abbey, the Rock of Cashel, St. John's Castle, the Stone Circle of Lough Gur and Bunratty Castle and folk park, (and the famous medieval banquet in the castle in the evenings.) Birr Castle and Portumna Castle are on your doorstep. Do not fail to visit the Portumna Work House Museum, which is so informative and moving.

Wonderful break in every way.

A Magical couples retreat. The lovely cottage is spotless, with all mod-cons. We had a fantastic welcome from the hosts who couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, they gave us a tour of the main house, amazing! Thank you J & K. The grounds are quite breath-taking especially the private forestry trail along the shore of Lough Derg, the little dock is straight from a Mark Twain novel. Very close to Terryglass Village and Quay. We definitely will return.

Quiet, relaxing retreat

We enjoyed our time at this little cottage on the grounds of Slevoir House. Jenny and Kieran were very hospitable and welcoming. We loved our hike around the grounds and enjoyed walking into Terryglass.

Incredible! We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

  • 5 of 5

Jenny and Kieran were very warm and welcoming. They took us on a tour of the estate and ground. Beautiful home. The cottage was very comfortable and had every thing we needed. It was good sized and perfect for a couple. Nice sized kitchen with every thing you would need to prepare meals. Refrigerator, dishwasher, French coffee press, toaster. Plenty of counter space. Bathroom was good sized with a nice sized shower. Bedroom has a comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. Washer and dryer(nice to have both). Living room was equipped with a flat panel tv and plenty of seating. There is a small entryway ( perfect for storing our suitcases and leaving your shoes and hanging coats). The view was perfect. Very private location. Parking is next to the cottage. Portumna is close by for groceries and restaurants but we ate at the locale restaurant, The Derg, often for dinners and lunch. (Incredible beef stew).

We spent 8 days at the cottage before heading towards the Dublin area. We could have easily stayed for all 15 days. Actually missed the cottage when we left.

Thank you Jenny and Kieran for a very memorable getaway in Ireland. We enjoyed our visit and wished we'd had more time for more conversations.

A Wonderful Few Days

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for my needs - peace and quiet in a serene location. The view of the cottage from the outside does not do justice to the interior - a modernized kitchen with all necessary appliances, a new shower stall in the bathroom, washer & drier, wifi.....The place was clean and tidy upon arrival....Jenny & Keiran were v gracious hosts, giving me a tour of the mansion, which is being lovingly restored and already looks v impressive, and free rein over the estate, which sits on the shore of Lough Derg, part of the Shannon. Easy walking distance to the v picturesque village of Terryglass. All-in-all a very delightful stay.

Owner's Response: Terry was a delightful guest and we enjoyed our time with him. Very considerate and interesting to talk with. The cottage was spick and span when he left and we were sorry to see him go.

A Stunning Place with Wonderful Hosts

  • 5 of 5

My stay in Terryglass was absolutely the magical!!! This fantastic cottage is on a hundred acres of GORGEOUS land with extraordinary birds and a light breeze that is ever-present. I could have stayed a month and not seen it all. If you love natural beauty and unparalleled peace and quiet, this is the spot for you !!!! And if the unbeatable location isn't enough, then there's Jenny and Kieran, two people who are wonderful hosts and exceptional people. I was lucky enough to have time to chat with them and they are both so interesting to talk with as well as loving a good laugh. They made my visit so marvelous. I came by bus and they gave me rides which were not just helpful but perfect for a traveler wanting to learn about the area. I feel so lucky for my time with them, in that beautiful place. If you come to Ireland, this is the place not to be missed. Between the property and the hosts, you will feel like you hit the jackpot.
