Very clean both inside and out, even the leaves had been swept away. Bedrooms where clean, tidy, beds where very comfy and shower pressure good in the ensuites.
Lovely open plan living area, plenty of room for a large family to sit and play games, watch TV and a large dining room table.
Lounge area was cosy and modern, lots of light coming through because of the patio doors.
Lots of games and films which came in handy.
Couldn't make full use of the garden as the weather had started to turn, but it had a BBQ and enough seating for us all, lovely relaxing area, pretty flowers all around and the resident squirrel visited frequently much to everyone's delight.
Plenty of space to park upto 3 cars in the drive.
The management where more than helpful, though we didn't have to ask for anything as such because everything was their, but they had lots of information on places to visit or eat ext.
Overall a really good enjoyable relaxing family break, would defiantly recommend and defiantly stay again.
thank you for taking the time to write a review look forward to seeing you soon
All Furcoat & No Knickers
We booked this house in particular because it said it was suitable for the elderly & infirm.
Well !!!! it wasn't my elderly mum fell down the stairs from the main hallway where her downstairs bedroom was. These stairs were the only way of getting to the open plan lounge, come dining, come kitchen, so no other means off getting there. This holiday was booked for her & my fathers special anniversary break & because she fell on the first fell day as there was only one banister this ruined her anniversary & our break, she had to visit the doctors due to the pain. The whole visit was a disaster as the daughter whom you deal with gave up the wrong address & was on holiday in France so you can imagine the stress I was having, as I booked it & our party of four others thought I'd mad the mistake, & not the mention my mums who's eighty was very uncomfortable. I mentioned in the title all furcoat & no knickers as all the mattresse's very porr quality also the sheets had marks on them & weren't iron along with the quilt covers. in the kitchen there was two teabags & no coffee, however a loaf, milk, red wine& margerine was left. The kitchen cupboard was dirty & had not been checked by the cleaner. I feel for the money this property lacked the personal touch, ie a bowl of fruit, full tea bag & coffee pots, & decent mattresses & ironed sheets would go a long way as the house is lovely, but is no way suitable for elderly or infirm holiday makers, my mother has been in a terrible state along with the pain & hitting her head she has had sickness due to the shock, we we had to contend with on our holiday & during the car & ferry journey home.
We were the guinea pigs.....
The homes first visitors, the Retreat, great location close to town. High standard of finish to the property and really helpful neighbours !!
Would highly recommend this property and would go back at anytime.
In the immediate area of 'The Retreat' we have the old village ,Amazon World, Space Island and of course Sandown, Ventnor and Shanklin beaches and Sandown Golf course. The island offers many great places of interest Flamingo Park, Osborne House, Carisbrook Castle, Robin Hill, Blackgang Chine just to mention a few. During the summer months we have a lot of fates and festivals. Gaffas, the garlic festival, agricultural show, crab fair, Chale show, music festivals, etc.. We also have a carnival, fireworks, fairground and a circus(during certain months) The isle of Wight is a beautiful island offering many places of interest known for its quieter pace of life. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind. There is a lot of history that the island has to offer Queen Victoria summer home and various manors and castles to visit.
