Cozy 2 BR/1 Bath authentic log home on 3.5 wooded acres
About Karen Berndt
My husband, Carl, and I have lived in Baileys Harbor for over 15 years, and own the restaurant, Harbor Fish Market & Grille in downtown Baileys Harbor. We are always available for advice on sightseeing and love introducing our guests to hidden gems in Door County.
Karen Berndt purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Karen Berndt chose Baileys Harbor
It is wonderful to have that total Door County experience, an authentic log cabin on 3.5 acres, just minutes from great restaurants, theater events, music festivals and the parks that Door County is known for! Plus all the water sports and arts to be enjoyed!
What makes this Cabin unique
We fell in love with the cabin a few years ago so it was a simple decision to buy it from our friends who had decided to sell. It is the perfect blend of quiet and serenity without being completely remote. The cabin is located only 1 mile from Baileys Harbor, lovely beaches and parks and great bicycling and hiking areas!

Peaceful winter getaway!
We couldn't have been happier with this darling cabin. It combines up to date amenities with a rustic wooded location. Private, but not isolated, we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit with cocoa and Bailey's Irish Creme and walks in the woods. The owners restaurant, Harbor Fish Market, was amazing! We will definitely return!
We simply adored having these nice folks as guests -- and sincerely hope that they will return again and again! Fantastic guests.
A great weekend escape!
From the ease of check-in to the bottle of wine and gift certificate to the owner's restaurant that greeted us, we loved the Cabin in the Woods! Karen is so thoughtful, and we particularly appreciated the toiletries (I forgot shampoo!) and towels and sheets to put down so that our dog could join us on the furniture. We wish we could have enjoyed their restaurant, but had to leave a day early due to a big snow storm coming in. We would happily come back and strongly recommend a stay here.
For those with dogs, Captain Bailey's dog park is a short drive away, and our girl loved running out some energy! We also really liked visiting Bearded Heart Coffee and Door County Brewing, both of which would be a great and easy walk in warmer weather.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
No doubt, we loved having these great folks as guests! And we are already looking forward to seeing them again -- hopefully sometime soon!
Great cozy getaway
This location was perfect for a quiet getaway, yet close enough to all of the fun in Door county. We loved being able to bring our furry family member along!!
Such a pleasure to have these wonderful guests stay with us! We really hope that they return again -- along with their furry family member!
Perfect place to make memories
Visiting this cabin was like going to visit a good friend. That is exactly how Karen and Carl treated us. We were first timers to their cabin and to Door County and they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We brought our two dogs for a weekend in the woods and along the shoreline. Their cabin is in a perfect location and they welcomed us and our dogs to their home, and also to the patio of their beautiful restaurant in town. Don’t miss out on that! They even have a dog menu!
The cabin is comfortable, cozy and set in nature. All of the comforts of home are there! We loved being in the woods, and were greeted by three deer upon our arrival! We made a campfire one night and there are even bikes to ride around town! We enjoyed the screen porch with our morning coffee and their cozy fireplace watching late night TV. I hope we can return someday, but we are grateful for the memories we made at their lovely cabin.
Gem in the Woods
We stayed at the Cabin in the Woods for the first time this Labor Day weekend; it was exactly what we were looking for! The cabin is wonderfully provisioned, and it seems practically designed for those with dogs. Very peaceful on this side of the peninsula. Stopped at Waseda Farms to pick up some items for our first evening meal and found a secluded, lovely hiking path near Kangaroo Lake. Door County Brewing Company and Heirloom Provisions & Cafe are just down the road. We could hardly tell it was a hectic holiday weekend, which was exactly what we were looking for. Enjoyed mugs of coffee on the screened-in porch every morning and a campfire each night; a doe with her two fawns walked right by the cabin on Sunday morning. The owner is thoughtful and prompt to reply to questions. We were sad to leave and will definitely be back!
