About Liz Mayatt

Liz and Gary bought Holly Cottage in 2000 after holidaying in Hutton-le-Hole when Liz was a child and wanting to bring her own children to the village that she loved.

Liz Mayatt purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Liz Mayatt chose Hutton-le-Hole

We bought Holly Cottage in January 2000. This was our project for the new millennium! There was a lot of work to be done so we got to work renovating it and managed to complete all the work in 7 months. We then started letting it and have done since July 2000. We holiday ourselves in Holly Cottage as often as possible and still love spending as much time there as possible.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful location overlooking the village and hills. Holly Cottage is even featured on postcards sold in the village. Very spacious and warm - perfect for coming home to after a day exploring.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just a quick one to say thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely cottage, it’s a fantastic holiday home. Unlike a lot of holiday homes we’ve stayed in, it was very well equipped with kitchen utensils etc and it really felt like home.

Hopefully we will return another time to maybe enjoy it during a different season.

Had a very good weekend here

meeting up with family ( 4 couples). Clean and well equipped. Great position in village, close to the pub which had a good menu and was dog friendly. Would definitely book again

Beautiful holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a lovely 5 days in Holly cottage. Gorgeous setting in a lovely village. The cottage has all the facilities you need and is in a great location to explore the surrounding countryside. Ampleforth Abbey, Whitby and York all within easy reach by car. We were a party of 7 and there was plenty of room for us all. Recommend The Crown for lunch and evening meals and The Barn for breakfast, both located in Hutton-Le-Hole. Would definitely go back to this property but would stay longer next time.

Lovely property ideally suited for our party of 3 couples clean, tidy and well equipped

  • 5 of 5

Met the caretaker on arrival who welcomed us giving information and advice about the property and village. Less than 2 minutes walk to The Crown, nice beer and good food. Took the NYMR steam train from Pickering to Whitby, great day out.

Property was a good size for our party of 3 couples with plenty of room to relaxe and chill. Would definitely recommend it and stay again if in the area

Warm and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to relax after long days of touring the Moors. We loved the village and the folk museum in town. Highly recommend the Bridge Inn a couple miles away. The food and atmosphere were great and one of the best meals we had during our 3 weeks in the U.K. Liz was great to work with and their housekeeper was wonderful in going out of her way to mail an important travel folder to us that had been left behind. Great place!!! Highly recommend!!

Very comfortable and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is quite large and very comfortable. The facilities were great and you needed for nothing. The village is a delight and for a walker ideally situated for plenty of long and short walks around the North Yorkshire dales.
