This traditional cottage is in the centre of the quiet conservation village of Morebattle, amidst stunning scenery. The cottage has been fully restored and has all the amenities that you would expect in 21st century, including free WiFi.
The lounge/dining area leads from the porch which is there for coats, boots, etc.. You will find the table set for a cosy dinner for two. The flat screen TV has freeview and radio and a dvd is provided. Maps and walking guides are to be found along with lots of local information.
The separate kitchen has a full oven, hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine. There's a patio at the back of the cottage where you can hang clothes to dry or have a barbecue! It's a real suntrap in Summer.
Up the decorative spiral staircase is the spacious bedroom with its kingsize bed, second tv and radio. There's a kettle and all you need for tea making here. The bed is made up with cotton bedding and you choose either duvet or blankets. The large bathroom has a full bath with a shower over. Egyptian cotton towels are provided which look especially inviting on the smart towel rail and radiator.
There is excellent double glazing and insulation to take full advantage of the traditional thick stone walls and full central heating is all included in the price.
In the kitchen you will find tea, ground coffee, eggs, milk and sugar provided. We also suppkly a lovely Welcome Basket which include home made jam and local beer. Cleaning items and basics such as cling film, foil kitchen roll and toilet tissue are provided
Parking is available in front of the cottage or on the quiet road.
Morebattle has a general shop and post office, and an outstanding local butchers shop which sells excellent meat, haggis, sausages etc. Less than 200 metres from Benfield Cottage is a really good pub that serves good meals every day of the week, cask ales and good whisky. More restaurants and inns are only a short drive away in the nearby village of Yetholm, or in Kelso.
Morebattle was originally a Welsh name and Welsh is a common local name! Kelso (10 minutes drive or a bus ride) is good for supermarket shopping and interesting for its abbey etc.
