Lovely apartment in a fantastic medieval village with wonderful views over Monaco.
We arrived exhausted after a long drive and as soon as we saw the apartment we relaxed and knew that we were very lucky to be in such a unique area. The apartment is very well equipped to a high standard. We would love to return sometime.
Great Riviera base with "old village" charm.
Back for another stay at this well located, clean, modern and secure apartment that offers close proximity to the Riviera lifestyle but with a delightful medieval village atmosphere to savour on return from your daily explorations by car, train, shuttle bus or foot.A dedicated parking spot is included and is most welcome on arriving back from some of the busier neighbouring coastal hot spots.
The heart of the village is a maze of ancient alleys, staircases and quaint houses and workshops that make for fascinating wanders and exploration and let you soak up the local community spirit-friendly and lively with numerous restaurants, coffe spot, bar and shop that are of good quality and with young enthusiastic staff that facilitate many a pleasant evening only steps from your front door but without the crowds from the beachside haunts.Get back to your own balcony and enjoy the firework displays from across the bay for a great end to busy days.
Open country and ancient perched villages are only a step away in the other direction along the networks of walking trails and the train station down the hill gives access to Italy,Nice ,Cannes and other coastal strip favourites. The local "no 21" shuttle bus is superb, goes as far as Menton/ Monte Carlo and at E1.50 per person any distance is a gem-go down to the stop at the "Lavoir" below Jill's apartment and come back to "les Genets" above and you don,t have to climb up a step at all-just the one onto the bus.
This apartment, location and community are a "favourite place" for us and we would recommend to any whose interests are similar-a great mix of old and new Riviera but with the need to explore by foot on occasions to get the best that it offers.
Not very clean
The property has 28 steps down to it - being disabled and not being able to climb many stairs this was too much. could not walk to village as all steps. Was told at time of booking that the stairs were no more than the amount in a normal house, Our house only has 12 steps!
first night my husband stood on a pin that was in the rug - it stabbed him in the arch of his foot and was painful
had to wash all the plates and cutlery used as well as cups etc as they had dried food on them
The toilet seat was dirty and had not been cleaned sufficiently
view was very good of Monaco
very disappointed with property
I telephoned Mrs Crozier when she booked,to warn her of outside steps as she had told me she is disabled. During that conversation she said ,she was just a little slow and would manage.
As for the cleanliness, in 15 years of renting my apartment, I have only had praise and compliments on the upkeep and cleanliness of it.
If as Mr and Mrs Crozier state it was not up to scratch I can only apologise,I am not there to see for myself and rely on a very good local lady for cleaning etc. .as this is the first complaint in 15 years I am upset by it and will endeavour to ascertain what went wrong on this occasion.and make sure it does not occur again.
Very nice apartment in lovely medieval village
We really appreciated this apartment in Roquebrune (village). The village is stunning, is a great place to explore and has several good restaurants. Being a little on altitude (250m) means it's somewhat cooler in the evening, has a welcome breeze and is also away from the crowds. A car is ideal, though there seems to be a good bus service (not tried).
For the apartment, we really appreciated the stunning views. A real 180-degree view of the coast, Monaco and the hills of Roquebrune; the lack of vis-a-vis (hence the view) and the terrace (though small) is still great for a meal for two. We also appreciated the well stocked kitchen (someone likes to cook or thinks of others who do) and the parking space available. Our first time in Roquebrune (though not to the area) and would definitely return, and to this apartment.
Many thanks to Jill for a stay made easy.
A lovely apartment in a great setting!
A lovely apartment which was exceptionally well equipped, clean and well-maintained. It had wonderful views looking out towards Monaco from the balcony. We had a very efficient service from Jill, the owner, who promptly replied to our queries and gave very good instructions on how to find the property.
We loved the old village of Roquebrune Cap Martin - what a gem! Everyone was really friendly and we liked the fact that a lot of locals live there and it wasn't over run with tourists.
We didn't have a car which didn't bother us as we made use of the local shuttle service in the daytime and in the evenings there was a choice of 4 really good restaurants in the village. We did also venture up and down the steps to the village a couple of times which were well -lit in the evening.
We will definitely be returning!

This charming apartment is situated on the edge of the medieval village of Roquebrune, so benefiting from the romance & history of the picturesque ancient buildings, but having modern amenities itself.
The immaculately clean, winding streets of the old village surrounding the 10th century castle, which overlooks the area, give endless scope for exploring, and here you will find many restaurants & bars to suit all tastes & budgets. The famous 1000 year old olive tree is on the path down the hillside to Menton. Should you wish to walk, the coastal paths give stunning views & are within easy access.
Menton, about three miles away, is an attractive seaside resort with beautiful shops & a great many restaurants.
The Italian border, with proximity to towns such as Ventimiglia known for its market, is no distance. The opposite direction takes you to the glamour of Monaco, with the beauty of the famous casino, world renowned shops & the spectacle of the yachts in the harbour.
