We are a family of five with two sons and one daughter. This property is owned jointly with our daughter, who as a a professional actress, with irregular work and income, wanted to get on the housing ladder and have a place to call her own! As for me, I worked as an NHS Catering Manager and School Meals Catering Adviser in the North West, then moved into Property lettings and management when the children started school, specialising in student, young professionals and family lets. Philip, Kathryn and I look forward to welcoming our holiday guests and hope that you will have some wonderful holidays in Mevagissey.
Carolyn purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Carolyn chose Mevagissey
We fell in love with this property the moment we saw it! The cottage had been in the same family since the 1870s and now it was going to become part of our family history. We have spent over a year renovating and reconfiguring the whole property so that it still has two bedrooms but also now has a large bathroom, while retaining the character and period features of the orginal cottage. We first started coming on holiday to Mevagissey over 20 years ago and all the family love it here. It is a great place to come to relax and recharge your batteries!
What makes this Cottage unique
Completely renovated in 2016 Parking for one vehicle included Outstanding views of the harbour, lighthouse and out to sea Close to beaches, village and countryside Outside seating area at rear of property Fabulous restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops within a few minutes walk Easy access to South West Coastal path The house feels like home when you walk through the door!

Perfect family get away
We had a wonderful stay at 19 Polkirt Hill.
The house was immaculate and had everything needed, it is very well equipped.
Carolyn had left us a bottle of champagne, some local tea and fudge as she knew we were on our honeymoon, there was even confetti on our bed and the towels had been folded into hearts- what a lovely & thougtful touch.
Beautiful views of the harbour and sea.
It was so lovely to sit in bed and watch the sunrise. The house is in a great location in very easy access of the Harbour & Village.
We enjoyed being able to walk to the little beaches and around the harbour.
We also ventured to the beach mentioned in the handbook that is in the house. It is def worth the short walk & many steps down to a hidden gem beach.
It was perfect family holiday.
We enjoyed a lovely boat trip, crabbing & fish and chips sat by the harbour.
The house is set in a peaceful village.
There are plenty of pubs, cafes & restaurants.
We had a wonderful stay and will def be back.
Thank you so much for your review. We are really pleased you had a wonderful stay and would like to come back again.
Wonderful flat in Mevagissey
We loved our stay in Mevagissey at 19 Polkirt Hill. We were there for a month and used this as our base to get to know Mevagissey and other small towns like Veryan, Port Isaac, ST. Michael ‘s Mount, St. Ives, Redruth, the Moors , St. Agnes, Gorran Haven, the ferry to Falmouth, the Eden Project, Thr Gardens of Heligan, etc. The flat was great for us 2 couples. Our friends went on several of the coastal hikes and enjoyed them. The flat itself exceeded our expectations. You do need to be careful coming down the stairs from the upstairs bedroom. Also exercise much care coming out of the front door due to very narrow streets in Mevagissey.
Harbourside Happiness :)
Cosy, spacious, clean and well equipped, this really is a great property. Tea bags and biscuits left for us which was lovely. It is so nice being able to see the harbour from the bedroom windows and well placed seating ensures comfortable viewing. Pretty tricky dropping off luggage as Polkirt Hill gets a fair amount of traffic and unbelievably it is not one way which does cause traffic chaos at times but that also provides entertainment!! AMAZING shower!! The double glazing is fantastic - really reduces sound and ensures the house is kept cosy at all times. Great that the TV's had Netflix. There is a really helpful file of information about the house and area. Lots of instructions for the essential equipment in the house EXCEPT the oven which did prove really frustrating AND the heating instructions do not match the thermostat control in the house and we needed to look online to work out how to turn the heating on and how to increase/decrease the temperature. The book advises heating on a timer but does not say what hours the heating comes on and off which would have been useful. DON'T let this deter you in any way. It is a lovely house and Mevagissey is a lovely spot to watch the world go by and make your base to visit other areas. It's one of the best houses we have stayed in since using HomeAway. Thanks so much Carolyn :)
Great location. Fantastic place to stay.
We had a really great time at 19 Polkirk Hill. The house is in a great location. The house has everything you could need and immaculately presented. The views from the property over the harbour are fantastic. We would definitely stay again.
Very well equipped with wonderfully comfortable beds and bath/shower room.
Excellent views of the harbour from the bedrooms and wifi and Netflix an added bonus. Very handy for all the town’s amenities but no on site parking. However, this is to be expected in a narrow street town like this.
Perfect location & amazing cottage!
This cottage is lovely inside, really well laid out and well maintained. The views are amazing and it is ideally positioned, just a minute or two walk to the village centre.
The owner was also really helpful and quick to respond to questions. We will be returning for a longer stay!
Thank you Carolyn
