About the property

Ours is a 3 storey family house close to Balham Overground Rail and Tube stations. A 10 minute taxi ride to Clapham Junction. There is a large Waitrose and Sainsbury's nearby. Many fabulous local markets restaurants and bars. The property is decorated to a high standard. Modern bathroom and kitchen appliances throughout. Tooting Bec Common is at the end of our road.

The house is large and perfect for large groups and family gatherings. With 5 Bedrooms 3.5 bathrooms and 3 sitting rooms all guests get space and privacy. Fabulous open plan dining, kitchen and garden provide wonderful communal eating and entertainment areas.

As foodies, we can provide a detailed list of great bars, restaurants, delis and things to do during your stay. Including details of great things to do in London e.g. Borough Market, Maltby St Market, London Fields, the Shard, the South Bank, Brixton food culture, theatres, music culture and good local and city restaurants.

Michelin starred restaurant Chez Bruce is a 10 minute taxi ride away. Along with countless fine restaurants in the area. Northcote Road market is a 20 minute walk. A large number of local bars, restaurants and supermarkets are within close proximity. And for great shopping, the Kings Road and Knightsbridge are 20 min bus/tube ride away.

Tea/coffee/ milk, yoghurt, fruit and muesli will be provided for your first night stay. We can arrange for a Sainsbury's Supermarket food delivery if you would like. Please email Karen a detailed list - a date and a time for your delivery.No smoking

We have few house rules; no smoking, and no parties or events. The property isn't suitable for pets. Check in is anytime after 3pm. Check out is by 10am except by prior arrangement.

Beautiful and stylish house with the warmth of a family home

This house really does impress from the moment you walk through the door: it's a period home that has retained many of its original features and has been brought up to date with stylish and tasteful interior decor. We spent a happy long weekend there, with two generations meeting up as my brother was over from Australia. The house is well-placed in a quiet residential area and is only 10 minutes walk from Tooting Bec tube station. A mini Lidl is 5 minutes away on foot and a Tesco express is about 15 minutes away. If you need to do a bigger shop, there is a large Sainsbury's in Balham. There is a very good gas barbecue in the garden which we made use of. The garden is beautifully laid out with formal flower beds and some garden furniture. With two living rooms and seating area in the kitchen, there's plenty of space for a large group to spread out or sit together as required. We were told by several people that this area has some of the best Indian food around so we ordered in a takeaway from the "Holy Cow", which was excellent and delivered free of charge to the house. The only downside to the property is the lack of dedicated parking for the house as you have to find a space in the street which is very crowded in the evening once everyone has returned from work. We also had a few niggles with a temperamental toilet flush in the top floor bathroom and a plug that didn't work in the first floor bathroom basin. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

Owner's Response: Hi Sarah thank you so much for looking after the house so well. Really glad the spaces worked for you. Apologies about the tricky loo flush - plumber was booked for Friday and clearly didnt make it. He is coming today so I am sorry about that. Plugs in basins dont seal they are free flowing - sometimes the compromises we make for aesthetics dont suit everyone but pleased that you had a great time. We would welcome you back anytime.
