About the property

Situated in a peaceful, idyllic courtyard, this property is a conversion of the stables which belonged to "Big House", situated next door and boasts a perfect location for keen walkers, including pets. Situated 4 miles from the market town of Newcastle Emlyn and, in the other direction, the delightful Welsh seaside village of Aberporth. This cottage is ideally suited for walkers, bird watchers and nature lovers of all kinds.
Highlights of the cottage are: many original features relating to the former use of the cottage, and with very limited imagination this dwelling can take you back to an almost forgotten era. Other features are the landscaped gardens with its very own disused quarry and incorporating a built in barbecue and patio area
At night the absence of ambient light means the stars put on spectacular show, and the complete silence is only broken by the hooting of the resident owl. Morning brings the dawn chorus in fantastic fashion, broken only by the harsh tones of the pheasants.
There is a village pub a very short car journey away (or a long walk),which serves good local produce, and local ales, but for cafes and grocery shopping the is a short journey to Newcastle Emlyn needed. Here you will find many conveniences such as an Indian restaurant, a supermarket, cafes and antique shops, all working hand in hand with the traditional rural lifestyle which incorporates a weekly cattle market.
5 miles in the other direction from the cottage is the delightful seaside village of Aberporth. This sleepy, largely unspoiled hamlet has 2 superb beaches and is ideal for both families and pets. While there you can explore the coves, picnic on the beach, or go for that seaside favourite, fish and chips, at the award winning chip shop.
The property has three bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 has a double bed
Bedroom 2 has two single beds
Bedroom 3 is a mezzanine floor, with a double bed
There is a bathroom upstairs, which has a toilet, wash basin, shower/bath
Downstairs there is a good size kitchen with everything you would expect in a modern kitchen. This leads directly, through to the living room with 2 armchairs and a large 2/3 seater settee
Below the mezzanine bedroom is a utility living space, which can be used as a dining room, play room for children or just a different living space, which has its own toilet.
There is parking for 2 cars.
Although the garden is landscaped to a high spec, it is not suitable for unsupervised small children, due to its steep nature and amount of steps.

Cozy and comfortable
Cozy and comfortable
Beautiful cottage - perfect Christmas retreat
The cottage has been beautifully renovated with all home comforts and more. The log burner - we were warm and cosy as a result. Lovely gardens - perfect for our puppy to roam in. Can walk straight from the door and also close to the beach. Shame about the appalling weather, which meant we made limited use of these things - but enjoyed the cottage enormously.
really peaceful hideaway
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Stables in its quiet, tranquil surroundings. It gave us the perfect base to explore the surrounding area. The property was nicely furnished and appointed and felt very cosy especially with the wood burner lit. The location was great for our children due to it being so quiet and well away from any traffic. There are some very nice beaches nearby also good walking country. We are definitely considering a return visit.
A lovely holiday in West Wales
We were thrilled to find--easily as it turned out---a comfortable and welcoming cottage after a rather difficult six hour journey. It is off the beaten track but you can get to Cardigan and several beautiful beaches very easily. Its a peaceful setting and the cottage is well equipped so felt very homely. We really liked the cottage as did a bat who wanted to stay, too. We had lovely weather and spent our days on beaches: we went to Aberporth, Llangrannog, Mwnt, New Quay, where some of us went fishing and caught lots of mackerel, Poppit Sands,Gwbert and Tresaith. We also enjoyed the atmosphere in Cardigan. The beaches were quite crowded as it was Bank Holiday week so at times it was difficult to find parking. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
Wunderbares Cottage - liebevoll eingerichtet traumhafte Lage - absolute Ruhe - sehr individuell
The property is in an unusually tranquil and unspoilt part of rural Ceredigion. Ideal dog walking country.
