Overview

About the property

Sunset is a three bedroom cottage set in approximately 8 acres of its own private bluebell wood, hazel coppice and pony paddocks.

The views from all side are of outstandingly beautiful countryside and farmland. To the back of Sunset your will enjoy far reaching views over Badbury Rings, Eyebridge and the Stour Valley.

On your arrival, the beds will be made, towels provided and a complementary “Welcome Pack" awaiting in the kitchen, so that you can enjoy a cuppa and some local delicacies!

Sunset is well appointed with a comfortable lounge equipped with SMART tv, Blueray player and Hifi. In the colder months, the log burner which is supplied with firewood from the private woods, produces a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob, oven, microwave, toaster, cooker, coffee maker and even a soup maker! There is a fitted dishwasher and washing machine/tumble drier and a free standing fridge/freezer. We even provide washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing powder/liquid.

The only traffic of any mention in the lane is of the four legged variety which nays and whinnies.

About John

We are an extremely friendly and outgoing couple.

We love to travel and take all of the ideas from our good holiday experiences to provide you with a very relaxing holiday where we have hopefully thought of most things.

In our spare time, we sail and are both Duke of Edinburgh Award leaders and assessors. So, when we are not working on the small-holding at Sunset we are outdoors somewhere else.

We do stay at Sunset ourselves, when it is available. That way, we can ensure that the cottage is up together and that the equipment and furniture is all of a high standard.

John purchased this house in 2008

Why John chose Wimborne

Sunset Cottage is set in 8 acres of its own woodland and pony paddocks.

It is a rural oasis about 2 miles south west of the market town of Wimborne Minster.

Properties like this do not often come to the market, and we were lucky enough to be it the right place at the right time to purchase Sunset Cottage.

We live in Wimborne Minster and take every opportunity to stay at the cottage, which is just such a tonic of relaxation and beauty.

What makes this house unique

2 Acres of bluebell woods

6 Acres of pony paddocks

A quiet rural location with stunning views over the Stour Valley towards Badbury Rings.

Goog connection to the A31 and A35, giving easy access to explore Poole, Bournemouth, The New Forest and all the other tourist attractions along the Jurassic Coast.

Wimborne Minster boasts an excellent variety of pubs and restaurants. Very few of them are part of a chain, so that you get a very personal and welcoming experiences from the smaller retailer.

A great stay in a comfortable house in quiet countryside, owners helpful.

  • 4 of 5

Weather was great so made full use of decking area which had sun all day. A bench in the front or main garden area would have been a useful extra.

The beds were not like those in the photos and all were found to be extremely comfortable in our adult only group.

The kitchen was well appointed with most of the items you would have at home, enough crockery etc to make use of the dishwasher without running out of things.

Although the house is tucked away in the quiet of the countryside we were not far from main roads so exploring Dorset was easy in the car.

Instructions, for the washing machine especially, would be helpful although the digital display does show you what you have selected.

All in all a place to return to and bring the dog to walk the lanes.

Sunset - Dorset

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable stay down at Sunset which is ideally situated for local attractions. Monkey World, Tank Museum, Poole and Bournemouth within easy reach. We found the property to be well furnished and equipped and ideal retreat after a days out on excursions. Quiet property situated on country lane with plenty of room for the kids to play outside. Only minor comments would be on the absence of utensils (frying pan, vegetable peeler) which can be easily remedied. Thanks again Jon and Lin for the welcome hamper.

Very "homey" feeling as soon as you enter

  • 5 of 5

All four of us loved the scenery from the cottage windows and decking as well as the house itself. We were lucky with the weather so really enjoyed the outside space. Generally comfortable, confident with cleanliness, good & well equippped kitchen and comfy lounge. Slight downsides if we were being picky - mobile reception bit dodgy, fridge bit small and a shower upstairs would be great but don't let that put you off as it is a fantastic place to stay and the owners obviously thoughtful. Hopefully we will return as overall its great!

Enjoyable stay.

  • 4 of 5

The house is attractive with mainly good quality furnishings, comfortable sofas and a well equipped kitchen. The beds, other than the double bed, are more suitable for younger children, being not proper divans. The owners were friendly and the house was very clean. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and it was lovely to watch the various wildlife that came into the garden, such as deer and rabbits. Dorset is a great place to visit as it has so many interesting things to see and do and some

fantastic beaches.
