Hydrangea House (HH), a new "sister" to listings #713286, 711512 & 645382 (refer to these listings for reviews, quality of construction, amenities, furnishings, etc) opened on MAY 22, 2016. Beautiful inside and out-- high quality landscaping, a perennial garden, horseshoe pit, a fenced area with fire pit, deck and a screened porch. Also 2 stall garage, parking for 6 cars. Rented by the week Saturday-Saturday in prime season (late June to Labor Day). During off season we rent for minimum of 3 nights on weekends or 2 nights mid week.
The house is fully heated and cooled with a new state of the art mini-split system which allows you to control the temperature in every room. Enjoy an upscale gourmet kitchen with a 5 burner gas stove, all stainless steel appliances & dishwasher, custom cabinets & a large Island with breakfast bar. Quartz countertops complete the kitchen. A large zinc topped dining table seats 12-16 and the dining room is furnished with a cocktail/bar area. Two sets of sliding glass doors lead to the large screened porch with cathedral ceilings, a long deck with a Weber double gas grill with direct propane feed and large table for eating, a fire pit, horseshoe pit and room for your DOG to play--yes HH is dog friendly!! Please consult with owner as to your pup(s) when booking. Between the cathedral ceiling dining room and open great room is a large gas fireplace with remote topped with a Large flat screen TV with Blu-ray player. Of course, wireless Internet is offered throughout the house. The large open great room has ample seating with a full couch and loveseat, 4 chairs and 4 ottomans and a game table all in colors of white, navy, apple green and pops of coral. All furnishings and linens are high end & brand new and very tastefully chosen for an upscale beach home (again--refer to the above listings for my other homes as examples). There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a powder room downstairs with access to the 2 car garage. Two large master suites w/full baths complete the downstairs; one with a stand alone soaking tub and both with double sinks and large closets. Both have flat screen TVS.
Three more bedrooms & 2 full baths complete the upstairs: one large King, one Queen with its own ensuite bath with shower) and a "family room" with a queen bed, a single bed and two sets of twin bunkbeds. The family room also has a flat screen TV with bean bag chairs for lounging. All in the house sleeps 15 in beds. Hydrangea has wood floors throughout with in-room area rugs for comfort. Low country front porch with rockers allows you to watch the comings and goings of small town Cape Porpoise or you can retreat to the totally private fenced back yard which backs up to the forever wild preserve land of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.
The house is a 2 minute walk to Cape Porpoise Square and The Wayfarer Restaurant, Cape Porpoise Kitchen---best muffins ever with your morning coffee or latte--and Bradbury's market. Two blocks up Langsford you find the wonderful new Food + Table gourmet shop and along Pier Road you will enjoy the Wright Gallery, featuring works of many highly regarded local artists and The Davis Gallery featuring the fine art landscape photography of Ted Davis from all over the world, along with Kelda designs --small household creations by local crafters. Stroll past the scenic harbor and up to the Pier for great food and libations at Pier 77 Restaurant, the local's favorite--The Ramp sports bar-- and Cape Porpoise Chowder House for fresh, made to order seafood.. While there, be sure to enjoy views of the Harbor, the surrounding Islands, Turbatt's creek, and the view toward the Bush family compound at Walker's Point. Also make sure you watch the Goat Island light at the Lighthouse, listen for the melodic fog horn, and watch the lobster and fisherman bring in their catch.
If you want more to do, Goose Rocks beach is 3 miles away, Kennebunkport & Dock Square are two miles...lots of local artisans, shop and restaurants. Take the drive from the house to Kennebunkport via Ocean Avenue to pass the Bush compound and see if the are in residence (The family crest flag will indicate). There is local theatre, (Ogunquit playhouse), local music (Vinegar Hill in Arundel) outlet malls in Kittery, and the never locked doors of LL Bean in Freeport, 40 minutes North. Or take a short ride to other scenic seaside villages like Ogunquit and York, to the south, or A Foodie's delight--Portland--just 30 minutes North. Along with the beaches, children will enjoy Funtown and its water park in Saco, Pirate's cove mini golf and the boardwalk and rides in Old Orchard Beach, riding the old trolleys at the Trolley Museum, candlelight bowling, the arcade and the Goldenrod at York Beach where you can watch them make the homemade taffy in the window. If it rains there is the IMAX in Saco, museums in Portland or games near the fire at your luxury home rental.
