Hydrangea House (HH), a new "sister" to listings #713286, 711512 & 645382 (refer to these listings for reviews, quality of construction, amenities, furnishings, etc) opened on MAY 22, 2016. Beautiful inside and out-- high quality landscaping, a perennial garden, horseshoe pit, a fenced area with fire pit, deck and a screened porch. Also 2 stall garage, parking for 6 cars. Rented by the week Saturday-Saturday in prime season (late June to Labor Day). During off season we rent for minimum of 3 nights on weekends or 2 nights mid week.

The house is fully heated and cooled with a new state of the art mini-split system which allows you to control the temperature in every room. Enjoy an upscale gourmet kitchen with a 5 burner gas stove, all stainless steel appliances & dishwasher, custom cabinets & a large Island with breakfast bar. Quartz countertops complete the kitchen. A large zinc topped dining table seats 12-16 and the dining room is furnished with a cocktail/bar area. Two sets of sliding glass doors lead to the large screened porch with cathedral ceilings, a long deck with a Weber double gas grill with direct propane feed and large table for eating, a fire pit, horseshoe pit and room for your DOG to play--yes HH is dog friendly!! Please consult with owner as to your pup(s) when booking. Between the cathedral ceiling dining room and open great room is a large gas fireplace with remote topped with a Large flat screen TV with Blu-ray player. Of course, wireless Internet is offered throughout the house. The large open great room has ample seating with a full couch and loveseat, 4 chairs and 4 ottomans and a game table all in colors of white, navy, apple green and pops of coral. All furnishings and linens are high end & brand new and very tastefully chosen for an upscale beach home (again--refer to the above listings for my other homes as examples). There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a powder room downstairs with access to the 2 car garage. Two large master suites w/full baths complete the downstairs; one with a stand alone soaking tub and both with double sinks and large closets. Both have flat screen TVS.

Three more bedrooms & 2 full baths complete the upstairs: one large King, one Queen with its own ensuite bath with shower) and a "family room" with a queen bed, a single bed and two sets of twin bunkbeds. The family room also has a flat screen TV with bean bag chairs for lounging. All in the house sleeps 15 in beds. Hydrangea has wood floors throughout with in-room area rugs for comfort. Low country front porch with rockers allows you to watch the comings and goings of small town Cape Porpoise or you can retreat to the totally private fenced back yard which backs up to the forever wild preserve land of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.

The house is a 2 minute walk to Cape Porpoise Square and The Wayfarer Restaurant, Cape Porpoise Kitchen---best muffins ever with your morning coffee or latte--and Bradbury's market. Two blocks up Langsford you find the wonderful new Food + Table gourmet shop and along Pier Road you will enjoy the Wright Gallery, featuring works of many highly regarded local artists and The Davis Gallery featuring the fine art landscape photography of Ted Davis from all over the world, along with Kelda designs --small household creations by local crafters. Stroll past the scenic harbor and up to the Pier for great food and libations at Pier 77 Restaurant, the local's favorite--The Ramp sports bar-- and Cape Porpoise Chowder House for fresh, made to order seafood.. While there, be sure to enjoy views of the Harbor, the surrounding Islands, Turbatt's creek, and the view toward the Bush family compound at Walker's Point. Also make sure you watch the Goat Island light at the Lighthouse, listen for the melodic fog horn, and watch the lobster and fisherman bring in their catch.

If you want more to do, Goose Rocks beach is 3 miles away, Kennebunkport & Dock Square are two miles...lots of local artisans, shop and restaurants. Take the drive from the house to Kennebunkport via Ocean Avenue to pass the Bush compound and see if the are in residence (The family crest flag will indicate). There is local theatre, (Ogunquit playhouse), local music (Vinegar Hill in Arundel) outlet malls in Kittery, and the never locked doors of LL Bean in Freeport, 40 minutes North. Or take a short ride to other scenic seaside villages like Ogunquit and York, to the south, or A Foodie's delight--Portland--just 30 minutes North. Along with the beaches, children will enjoy Funtown and its water park in Saco, Pirate's cove mini golf and the boardwalk and rides in Old Orchard Beach, riding the old trolleys at the Trolley Museum, candlelight bowling, the arcade and the Goldenrod at York Beach where you can watch them make the homemade taffy in the window. If it rains there is the IMAX in Saco, museums in Portland or games near the fire at your luxury home rental.

This new home will be available for rental mid May. It is exactly like the homes listed above on VRBO. Also see www.porpoiseplace--the website for these three upscale homes. The other two homes opened last June and are already completed rented for the entire summer of 2017 and are staring to book for 2017. We have tried to include many amenities a large family/families would enjoy on a relaxing vacation on the Coast. Also suitable for certain events---women's week away, etc.

What a beautiful, charming home, set in the picturesque town of Cape Porpoise Maine!

  • 5 of 5

Deborah's home is SO beautiful, and was so comfortable for our family of 12! Deborah was warm and inviting, and really had everything covered for us that we may need while we were there. We had our 1 year old granddaughter with us, and Deborah brought over a bed, a high chair and a baby bath for us to use! It was clean, organized and beautifully decorated and it really made our stay on the east coast so warm and comfortable! Cape Porpoise is a hidden gem, and it really was a treat to stay there. We went walking, running, or biking every morning. We went fishing, antique shopping, and sight seeing to lighthouses, quaint homes, and beautiful beaches. We played Horseshoes and Bocce ball at the house. We ate lobster everyday, and right across the street from Deborah's home is the famous

Nunan Lobster shack, which was fabulous! We ate there twice and bought fresh lobster from them and cooked at the house too! We hope to make staying in this home a family tradition! Thanks Deborah!

Owner's Response: Always thrilled when guests take advantage of the area, our quaint fishing village right on the water, and of course, my house which I hope I designed to offer comfort, room to sprawl and many amenities. This lovely family did it all and maximized on the offerings -- with one year old in tow! We would love to have you back any time!

Gorgeous home. Beautifully appointed. Central to everything.

We stayed at Hydrangea House in July with two separate families. Everything was wonderful. Short drive to both Dock Square and Goose Rocks Beach. Enough space for two families to be comfortable and spread out. We will return for sure!

A Great Way to Enjoy Maine

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the Hydrangea house. It is beautiful and located across the street from an awesome place to enjoy lobster. Deborah and her husband and team were very responsive to a few issues that arose and went above and beyond by even offering her own umbrella when we were going to go on a lobster tour in wet weather. This home is one I wouldn't hesitate staying at again if it fits our ever growing extended family. I know she has two other nice homes nearby so we may be renting multiple homes next time we come. We loved Kennebunkport. It was so beautiful and quaint and the people there were great. We created great memories there.

The house was tastefully decorated with everything we needed and more! Close walk to the grocery store or fish market and a variety of interesting places to eat and drink. We would definitely recommend this comfortable rental and the owner, Deborah, was quick in replying to any questions we had.

About Deborah Davis

My husband and I are the parents of two wonderful children, a great son-in-law and a "soon to be born" grandson. We vacationed in Maine starting before we had children and continued that tradition for many years after they were born until we bought a small cottage in Cape Porpoise, Town of Kennebunkport, in 1990. Thereafter we moved to town permanently and bought a house in 2002. We are very familiar with the area and we have traveled extensively (for work and pleasure) and often had trouble finding houses to rent in tourist areas where we could enjoy or extended families. Thus, we built two large reals-- one 10 and one 6 bedroom last year and this year we are adding the new Hydrangea House which sleeps 15.

Deborah Davis purchased this house in 2014

Why Deborah Davis chose Cape Porpoise

Hydrangea House offers beautiful strolls of the harbor, in town location for shops and restaurants, quick access to the busier Kennebunkport, and easy access to many beaches. Its private back and side yard will offer many enjoyable options for families as will the large open kitchen/great room/dining area. With 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths you will be able to start the day quickly and refreshed. For more information see the "about the property".
